@nagijuu4 жыл бұрын
Sarah. Army blink idk maybe it’s bc I myself would never go to the airport to “support” an artist I like. it’s just weird to me and I don’t think idols like it very much either. and in this case the girls saying sorry were still surrounding jin and following him with cameras in his face, so I’m sure the apology meant absolutely nothing to jin. like, did you see how many people were there at the dock? no one in jin’s place would feel comfortable in that situation. it doesn’t matter if it’s “common practice” it’s still an uncomfortable thing to have to deal with.

i'm so glad you mentioned the whole k-hiphop scene. From what I have seen they often reject anyone that makes it big or becomes an idol bc it is this flashy, more glamorous lifestyle rather than the 'difficult/hard' lifestyle a lot of people fantasize about in the hiphop scene. I've seen it happen in other countries too, rappers going on about the ghetto and so on, I was classmates with a rapper and that shit was so cringe bc I knooooow his life wasn't this miserable anime protagonist life he rapped about. So many Kpop rappers that were active in the underground rapper scene get rejected the moment they actually become idols, bc 'oh they wear makeup, they have these crazy fangirls, ugh, you betrayed this genre by not living miserably'. Basically, they think they're high and mighty even tho these idols work damn hard to get where they are and that's why I have pretty much the exact same opinion about this stuff like you.

I would take the Jeongyeon/Jimin thing with a grain of salt. There is no solid proof that they have "beef" with each other, it's all based on speculation from fancams. A lot of people like to come up with all kinds of wild theories as to why such-and-such idols seem to be a certain way around other idols, when really it's b/c of some other situation or circumstance, or nothing at all. A friend of mind thought I was angry at them one day b/c I had a mean look on my face, but honestly I was just really deep in thought and didn't realize my demeanor came off as hostile towards them. My point is, don't believe everything you see in fancams when you don't know exactly what (or what was NOT) going on with those idols in the moment. I think it's bad form to spread stuff like that among the fandom when we don't really know. It also causes harm to the idols that are PERCEIVED to be "rude" towards a member of X group, cuz they'll get a bunch of hate out of nowhere for something they didn't do.

@@jormarques Just spreading awareness, my dude. Jokes and memes are fine, but some fans like to blow it up so much that people who are NOT in the know start actually believing it's true. I've seen it happen before, and the aftermath is not pretty (fan wars, hate mail, etc.) Not trying to ruffle any feathers or ruin a good time, I just think there's some memes that are not necessarily good ones, especially if it has the potential to spread negative rumors among idols and their fans.

@red5fly4 жыл бұрын
Well, to play devil's advocate on this, Kpop as a whole is just copying the trends in the US just as much and putting their own twist on it. I also don't really agree with your statement on the "OG’s and bigger artists" taking a step away from it in recent years. Who are these OG's and big artists other than Dok2, who's being sued for not paying for his jewelry? Epik High? Jay Park? The Quiett? All still active in the Korean scene with so many more to list. As Bewhy said, the level of hip hop in Korea has gotten so much higher in the recent years.
@Ahjusshi_Brown4 жыл бұрын
Red the quality of k hip hop artists have DEFINITELY improved over the years. I’ve been into korean music in general since 2013 and I must say the top artists right now truly take their craft seriously and make good content. However, that’s not all of k hip hop. We see it especially when a new season of SMTM rolls around, new artists who more than anything are adopting a stage persona simply because they think that’s what hip hop should be. I understand all they can really draw from is what they see Americans do but it’s cringey when you know for a fact they’re copying and pasting style, cadence, and “attitude” from the artists they look up to. I’d just like for them to be a bit more authentic as a whole (not just the really big k hop hop artists). In terms of Kpop, for the most part, they’re no longer simply copying/appropriatating western hip hop. At this point kpop rappers are actually writing their lyrics, sticking to stuff they know, and being as authentic as they can be. They’re not claiming (or trying to show) that they’re a part of that life outside of a few idols who truly have a passion for it and have studied it (like RM and Suga). I appreciate their ability to rap (flow, cadence, stage presence) more than anything. In terms of the OGs I’d have to go re-listen to a podcast where this was discussed to get the names. It was on Dumbfoundead’s podcast and he had some korean American artists, Jay Park, and Dok 2 talking about the k hip hop scene and how it’s recently been either they’re serious or it’s basically all a gimmick. Sorry I couldn’t name drop for you since it’s been a few months since I listened to the podcast 😕

@@Ahjusshi_Brown i agree with your statements. i will also add that just like some khiphop artists are cringey, its the same for newer western artists. i feel as though hiphop(if thats even what you want to call it)now isnt as authentic and genuine when it first started, though you do have some gems in the bunch now. western rappers(the majority)nowadays talk about the same thing, nothing different. And smtm now has become a joke the last recent season was embarrassing. in the khiphop/r&b scene i listen to artists like bewhy, penomeco,changmo,haon, dean, hoody, jiselle, moon, ph-1, g soul(but he recently changed his name) and more. i guess to not want the cringey stuff you have to really know where to look

They struggle as underrated artists and some of them are even recognized by bts members for their works too. This is aside from what bris said, but to those in the comment section bashing on khiphop, please keep an open mind. There are different ways on how people express themselves through music.

WARNING: LONG COMMENT I agree about k-hiphop. They come at idol rappers saying that it's not real rap. Literally their *only* reason being... that they're idols... like huh? That's not a valid or logical reason to say that someone is not a real rapper or that their rap sucks. Their title as an "idol" doesn't determine their skills just as your title as a "rapper" doesn't determine your skills. Who even came up with that idea? You can have the title of a rapper & still suck (as many of them do) so idk why they feel validated merely bc of their title. You still gotta live up to it. But an actual valid reason to say someone is not a real rapper is when they have a stereotypical idea of rapping & rap culture so they forcefully mold themselves into that narrow & uneducated idea. Personally I feel that real rap is very expressive & clever. Whether it be a hard song, a soft/emotional song or just a hype song, you still need your own thoughts & experiences to be expressive in your music. But these k-hiphop "artists" just talk about stupid stuff that they think rappers should talk about. Or they basically copy & paste American rappers but in such a tacky way. Real rappers/artists don't limit themselves just to conform a false standard but instead take on a large range of variety. Of course you can adopt or incorporate current trends but I expect for a true rapper to still have their own style & flow, even if it doesn't meet the norm. Yeah that's called being innovative. That's exactly what BTS does & that makes me respect them as true artists & rappers. Yet these k-hiphop artists still try to fit to an image that they perceive to be hip hop as a whole. That's not called being a rapper, that's called *pretending* to be a rapper. BTS & a lot of other idol rappers are out here killing the game while y'all k-hiphop hoes are playing house 😂 They literally have the slightest idea lol it's so sad.

Hip hop is a feeling. A genuine feeling that you just KNOW especially if you grew up on it. So when you see someone try to fake that feeling and you can obviously tell that it doesn't come from a genuine place, it kind of hurts to see. I hope that made sense. It's more than just particular gestures and sounds and mannerisms.

Saw these guys on The Late Late Show w/James Corden, liked their sound, so I have spent some social distancing time learning about BTS. I've listened to their whole discography, watched their music videos and live performances, and read lyric transcripts. I'm not a fanatic, I just enjoy good music of all genres. Here are my BTS picks: Best Song (Group) - tie, Black Swan and Blood Sweat Tears Best Song (Individual) - Begin (Seesaw is a close second) Best Rap (Group) - Ddaeng (check the Korean explains BTS video for all the clever nuances) Best Rap (Individual) - Interlude: Shadow Best Dance Track - Mic Drop (Steve Aoki remix) Best Choreography (Group) - They are all really good Best Choreography (Individual) - Begin (The footwork reminded me of old school tap dancing) Best Vocalist - JK Best Rapper - Suga Best Dancer - Jimin (I love the way he uses his hands and his foot placement is fantastic) Best Overall Lyricist - RM Best Rap Lyricist - Suga Special shout outs to: BRISxLIFE for the reaction videos. They made me laugh as well as offered insight to the group. Big Hit Entertainment and the BTS families for nurturing these boys into talented, respectful, sensitive, compassionate, and caring young men. You made non-dancers into dancers and non-singers into singers. You gave them Wings. BTS for showing the rest of us that with a lot of patience, a lot of hard work, a lot of support, and a little makeup and hair styling, we can all be beautifully successful. Do your thang!!

Why did I feel myself so sad when bris said "that's why I love suga, that's why I love rm, 'couse what they talking about is from them, it Isn’t persona... " and no single word about j-hope, because... Hey.... He's talking from himself too, and his lyrics is good too.... I understand that everyone have different tastes but I can't stop feeling myself sad when people point only on rm and suga when they're talking about bts' rap, It's like hoseok doesn't even exist or his rap and lyrics are so bad that it doesn't even deserve an appreciation
