BTS took some serious risks with this song. At the time it was released, it was taboo to speak about the tragedy. They literally could have ended their careers by releasing this song and video. I read a comment from one person on another video that she hadn't believed that the song was actually about the Sewol ferry tragedy until she saw a live performance that the boys did at an awards show. The stage that they chose to perform on replicated the ocean floor, causing her to realize that BTS really did mean for the song to be about the tragedy. What I love most about this song is that it has accomplished the one thing that the survivors wanted: the lives that were lost on that day have not been forgotten.

The most tragical of them all are that the students who drowned didn't actually die immediately. While the ferry sank and they were trapped inside they had time to video call their families and friends to say that they love them and that they are scared, that they were going to die.. Their families just watched their kids die unable to do a single thing. And on top of that most of the survivors I believe were saved by fishermen on their boats since the coastguard took their sweet time getting there even though the coast was not very far away.. I am sorry if I got any information wrong about this tragety but that is what I collected from this incident if I can even call it that. Thank you for your reaction to our precious song and its explanation. Stay safe and healthy!

Dont be sorry, its actually true. The kids had plenty of time to escape, but told by crew members to stay put, while captain jumped ship, afterwards worry about his wet Bill's, all caught on camera. Students obeyed, stayed put, while coast guard and military were close by, but due to territory authority had to stay put till told to, which was too late. That is why it was considered most horrific situation. All could had survived, plenty of time, even the survived kids felt guilty, committed suicide later on...

This was the first song I heard from them two years ago. I was in a really bad situation mentally and physically. I remember how i was scrolling through KZbin after a long day since that was the first time I went to a psychiatrist to seek help. I didn’t listened to kpop before but Spring day made me tear so much that day. I felt hope for the first time in a veery long time and that was how I started my journey with medication and therapy with BTS by my side. I’m in a better place now, even tho this journey is pretty long and hard for me... and BTS is always with me, their music and messages makes me wake up with hope since that day. It’s really curious how a lot pf armys says this but it’s 100% true: bts comes to your life in the right moment. Because of u mentioned about the released day of spring day. I would like to share more info of that. The accident was happened on 2014. But why BTS would release Spring day on Feb 2017? It is because the wreck of ferry was still in the ocean until 2017. victim’s families and citizens all want the government can raise the wreck asap and meet their loved even tho just the bodies after 3 years later the accident happened. This is the only little wish that victim’s families wanted. Thats why the lyrics are “How much longer should I wait and how many sleepless nights should I spend before I get to see you.before I get to meet you” “Past the edge of cold winter, until the spring day comes again, until the flowers bloom, please stay there a while longer Please stay” It is more make sense to the case. Because victims were still in the dark ocean place!! this is so heart broken. Finally, Mar 2017, the salvage operation began to raise the wreck of sunken Sewol. ps sorry for my grammar. but hope more ppl understand the meaning of this song and why so many k-citizen loved it until now.

When I discovered Spring Day, and what it meant - that’s when I knew these artists and group were more than just in my life for musical gains. They were more than just attractive individuals here to share their talent. They exist to talk about the tough issues, to move people, and to spread that it’s okay to hurt as long as you choose to grow from the pain. Spring Day is and always will be my favorite BTS song. It does something to me I cannot explain.
@s_ana92984 жыл бұрын
The first time listening to the song, generally we get to see the message that BTS would like to convey in “Spring Day” is the feeling of longing to someone, a friend that they had lost. Many fans were saying the MV was actually referred to a novel name ‘The One Who Walk Away From Omelas’ also the movie “Snowpiercer” (directed by the directorof parasite). And some said it related to Sewol ferry incident story( as you can see in the video) .But there's no confirmation from BTS themselves on saying that “Spring Day” was actually about the Sewol-Ho tragedy as BTS wished to leave the interpretation of the songs and MV to the viewers but there were plenty of clues in the MV to get that it is an homage ; Also when you think about it the high school students who died were 2014 HS Juniors born in 1997 and Jungkook (delayed a year so HS Junior in 2015) who were the same age as them was the person who represented them in the shot where there were yellow ribbons tied to the sign of "You Never Walk Alone" and all the other members were blurred..... Also in the MV 3:04 Jin was shown (who represent the dead/ victims) it's the number of people who died that day. So there he really does represent the victims. So first hats off to bts and bighit for this masterpiece. Also a huge applaud for the humongous amount of detailing and thought they have put in to the MV. And lastly..... I love your reaction and this is just the beginning..... the explanation videos for other BTS MV are also crazy. But that's another reason why we stan them. 💜💜

It was very nice to see you come across this and accept BTS for who they are: amazing humans who have both light and darkness. This song has a new layer of meaning to ARMY now. In this pandemic of COVID, it has been sung by not only us, but by Them during any online concert they could. They know we need hope, and right now, we are all waiting for that spring day. Spring was taken from many countries due to the lockdown, including our own. Summer is gone and now winter is just around the corner. Our minds are still in March, in that early spring when it was still cold - just like the survivors of the Sewol incident. Our minds can't move on despite how fast the calendar moves. It's a sad comparison, and unfortunately the world has lost thousands of people to this pandemic, including children, parents who then leave their children behind, or our classmates and friends. This pandemic is also underreported and horribly dealt with by the news of many countries. The similarities go on. The guys could have never guessed this song, which was meant to be a tribute, would ever have to be an anthem for us to scream when we feel like the light is fading. I myself made my own version of this song in half English, Half Korean to make this pandemic seem as if we're almost through, when in reality we don't know when our spring day will come. In the meantime, when you mention Spring Day, know that all of ARMY sing this song as our hope. We know a new anthem is coming on the BE album on NOV 20th. But this has kept a lot of us going.

Well there are so many references to the tragedy in this video but i guess the DONT FORGET sign in the washing machine and the Yellow Ribons (wich are literal simbol of the Tragedy) are the most evident. The boys could have been blacklisted if they said what was the song about at that times and it is a delicate thing to talk about for koreans too so i understand if they chose to keep it discreet, in the end BTS have said this song is about missing the loved ones and that their songs in general can be open to whatever the person feels about it and thats amazing too

While it was all happening one of the students sent an “I miss you” text to their parents... it’s placed into the lyrics of the song throughout. Such a heartbreaking story but I love how despite not being allowed to speak about it, they made this song in tribute

Honestly look more into it, the sowel ferry incident is so inhumane, and it happened to “children” and what the government did after was just as bad, so after two years of the families been lied to, bang pd wrote a song about it for bts, and it brought worldwide attention to the situation, it’s so sad 💜

The song was contibuted by a few people in cluding RM and Suga. You can see it on one of the vlog done by RM how he came up with the lyrics to this song. He was given the melody to listen to and he went to the park to get some inspiration to write the song.

This song is definitely about a sense of loss, a sense of grief, simply missing someone who's no longer there. Whether that's missing a friend, a loved one, grieving someone due to death/suicide, longing for someone in a relationship that no longer exist, etc. I think BTS did a wonderful job by leaving it open to each person's interpretation. Like the art they create in both the song/lyrics and visuals of the MV, art itself is subjective and open to many interpretations because each person has their own story to relate to. Yea, overall for me is a sense of loss, longing for someone/something that's no longer there. Yes, the summer months can feel like winter, but as the winter snow melts away...a new Spring Day will come. We have to look forward to hope...the hope for better days ahead. 😭💜 BTS is just amazing with their words, metaphors and their storytelling.

This just makes me respect BTS even more and I wish more artists, especially in the United States, were like this. As an American, I'm tired of seeing millions of people struggle to survive in this world simply because the people we have in power are rich and greedy. It's hard finding people who are motivated to help others and actually stand against what is "unacceptable" to society. As always, I love your reactions 💜💜💜 I'm proud to be part of GDV
