I have a feeling Yoongi understand more English than we think he does 😂
@shamidkpzd7 жыл бұрын
My boy is low key fluent, lol. But yeah I think he understands a lot more than he lets on. I noticed in quite a few interviews that Yoongi answers questions before Rapmon translates things and is aware of things before the others. I don't think he's all that confident in his speaking ability.

@noxfior7 жыл бұрын
Alex B. yep this! Like, when that interviewer called them hearthrobs and Namjoon asked her what it meant, when she was explaining what it meant, Yoongi was already smiling amused while Namjoon was starting to translate to the others. When you learn a new language, it is way harder to speak it than to read it and understand it.

In the Korean language they have "konglish" words which is pretty much "borrowed" English words so it sounds like the English term but it's Korean. Most of these words have the Korean symbol for eu which is "ㅡ". Examples of this would be "핫도그", romanized to hatdogeu which is hot dog. There's also juice which is juseu or 주스 in Korean. Even when jhope said Los Angeleseu, he was technically pronouncing it the way it's written in hangul which is 로스엔젤레스 or loseu enjelleseu. So it's not that we (as English speaking people) add stuff when speaking a different language it's just how they pronounce their words
@galinav.k.65177 жыл бұрын
Tay Gray another factor might be that in Korean you have the 받침 (batchim) a.k.a the final consonant in a syllable which is often not really pronounced or at least not aspirated. In english you aspirate the last letter of a syllable a lot more and to koreans it might sound like a "u" sound because it's a lot more noticeable to them than to english native speakers as they don't aspirate letters at the end themselves, hence why konglish words often have that ㅡ/u added at the end. this is just an observation i made so maybe i'm wrong idk lol
@taygray64247 жыл бұрын
This is true! I didn't think about that, but in there are different ways to stress a the sound of the syllables. Thanks for bringing that to my attention because that completely slipped my mind

The only reason Koreans add the "u" sound after words that are spoken in English is because in the Korean language you always have to have a vowel sound after a consonant. That's how the language is spoken and written. So because they are used to saying a vowel sound after a consonant sound that's why they still do it when they are speaking English. As for native English speakers learning Korean I don't think there would be any reason the make a sound after speaking in Korean...but there are other things native English speakers might struggle with like the r-l sound or the pronunciation of certain words

The reason Koreans Add the -EU to the end of some words is because if the words last syllable is just a consonant because in the Korean alphabet it is not possible to have a consonant on it own with out a vowel so they add the -EU sound.

It depends on where you're from if English is hard for to you to learn or not. If you're from western europe or europe in general it will be easier for you because many of the sounds are the same and many of the words are related. If you're from an east-asian country like Korea, it will be much harder because the sound system and vocabulary is completely different (except for loan words). But overall, I would say that objectively English is a hard language to learn from scratch. The sound of the language and pronounciation is very distinct and hard. Not to mention the gramatic aspect, which is an inconsistent mess :)
@thamiresarede83277 жыл бұрын
Caren Streitwood no it's actually not. English is one of the easiest languages to learn since it doesn't have as much rules as other languages. It's only a bit hard for asians to learn it but with a 2 years course they would already be fluent. And if the person is European or South American it's even shorter. As a polyglot, English was the easiest language that I've ever learnt even though I have a Latin based background, the Latin ones like French and Spanish were harder to understand since they have way more verbs and vocabulary than English.

I think it really depends where you're from. I think people from European countries with germanic languages like german, dutch, danish, swedish etc. will have a much easier time learning English because the word order, vocabulary and grammar is somewhat similar. Asian languages however , have little to no correlations with english which of course makes it much harder to understand how the language is build up and stuff

Actually I find english quite easy, I learned it only by reading books and watching anime with english subs and now I'm fluent with english, (and now, since I firsg started watching animes 3 years ago I can litterally watch videos in japanese without any subtitles because I understand what people are saying, I just can't read or say much in japanese just normal and simple things) and now for korean, I can read it without difficulty (just not when it's in hangul) but the thing is that watching things in the language we want to learn really helps! (right now I'm learning japanese and korean by myself and I like it, after practicing & learning it for some time we can easely become fluent with it! We just need motivation 😀 (And actually I can already speak fluently in 5 languages [portuguese(it's my first language), english, spanish, french and italian] so I guess it also helps with learning even more languages) And just to say, I posted this long comment just to tell everyone that if they want to learn something they can, they just have to be motivated and choose the better options for thel to learn (some people prefer watching videos while others might prefer read) or just go to a country where people talk in the language you want to learn and be interested and it might help a lot! 😀 Hwaiting!💪😀💖

I don't speak korean but in japanese the alphabet is not letter by letter but syllable (kana), I think it's the same in korean, so when a word ends by a consonant, they just can't pronounce it correctly. so in japanese, you add a "u" or a "o" at the end of the word, i guess it's the same in korean. ^^ edit : oh i should have read the comments, everybody explained it better already ^^

im not korean, this doesnt apply to every word and i dont know if what i say is correct but from the little korean i know, usually words that end with an "s" sound (not necessary the s letter) in korean "ㅅ" when its at the end of a word it can sound like a "T" so to make the english word sound of an "s" at the end it needs a vowel and idk why but they use "eu" a vowel in korean "ㅡ" so the "s" doesnt sound like a "t". its complicated and i probably sound dumb lmao but u said u could read korean so i expect for you to kind of get it

Not long ago I went in an english camp (I'm romanian, english is not my first language and I don't speak it very well as you can see) and I met some british people.
