This becomes even more profound realizing that out of all the BTS members, RM has received the most backlash. He has always been sensitive for the comments discrediting his looks, his worth, his importance to the group as a whole. To see that he, and the members as a whole, have come so far not only as musicians and artists but as people who have come to peace with who they are is just truly inspiring. Namjoon, your words are inspiring and captivating, and I pray BTS will always continue to grow and receive love and support.

*RM has officially wrecked my bias.* In all seriousness, I've never been one to suddenly change my perspective or feel differently about myself because an artist or group that I like made a heartfelt speech or said to in lyrics. I've been an army since FIRE came out and I just feel so moved by this. Their efforts to reach out to all of us out here struggling really resonates within me. It's not just a common theme in their songs; they made a whole album, collaboration with UNICEF, and use their platform whenever they can (by the way, for those who don't know, RM stands for Real Me). I was watching the light slowly fade from around me but I think I might just chase it. I think I might just try hearing my voice again. Thank you, BTS. Thanks everyone for reading this far.

Keep sending the messages to BigHit directly on Twitter so they understand the severity of what their staffs are doing. Making remarks like this doesn’t help send a message you want to achieve. BigHit need to retrain their staffs again. The securities are like the third party they hired at every venues/concerts they booked I think. Maybe these particular staffs they hired there screwed up big time. Report it to BigHit and keep complaining directly to them.

I'm speaking not as a fan, but as a youth of today's generation and his words hit me. What is my name now? And what does excites me? In all of my 20 years of life, I've come realize that the things that made me happy, are things that actually what people made me think it would. They say get good grades and you'll be happy, they say study in engineering and you'll be happy, they say don't do this but do that, THEN you'll be happy... I've listened to these voices and it only took me recently to realize that this is not my calling nor did it really made me happy. I was not happy taking the risks and failed, I was not happy when I got a good grade because I kept remembering the hardship rather than the final result... Now I realize, my passion and my life is still out there, waiting for me to find it and to start it soon. Thank you for asking those questions, RM. I will find my name, and I will speak for myself. And maybe one day... One day when I'm sure of what I am and found the me that I love and embraced, I will speak how your name, helped me find mine. Thank you, BTS. For now, my name is Eva Grace, I'm a 20 years old girl, who's from Southeast Asia and is just struggling to understand life. But I am me, and I will find my own voice soon.

Honestly, I don't see what the problem should be for supporting Korean idols (I'm talking about people judging others for supporting Korean idols). They're human beings too, and it shouldn't matter if they're Korean, American, French, Russian, Indian, etc. They're human beings that should at least be heard out, and respected, just like everyone else. Even if you don't like BTS's music for whatever reason. Maybe it's not your style/genre, maybe you'd just rather listen to something in your own language (I personally think music should span language and cultural boundaries, but I get that some people prefer to listen to things in their own language). In that case, at least take away this overall message that they're trying to deliver. Their message is such an important one that everyone should take to heart.

@@evewhoo My problem with KPop overall is not so much the music itself, or the presentation thereof, as how the industry treats their stars. It's not just KPop, I know. The Japanese idol industry is just as bad, and the music industry in the west is not perfect either. It's just really depressing to see people being taken advantage of like this, and when you know about it, it gets harder to support. And people say BTS doesn’t need RM! What are they kidding themselves with? What would BTS be without RM?
@samheart4936 жыл бұрын
They've no idea what are they talking about. First, I think they're just searching content to hateful. Second, BTS is BTS because Seven of Them together.

I was 13 when I first discovered them and their music in 2015. I was plagued by the fact that I didn’t know why I functioned the way I did and why everyone thought I was weird and avoided being with me. I knew there was something different about me, and it made me worry a lot about the way other people percieved me. Around the age of 10 I started developing depression because of my differences, and at age 14 I was diagnosed with asperger’s syndrome. It was extremely hard for me to cope with the fact that I could never be like my peers. My depression got worse and my anxiety made me stop talking and made me self-conscious to the point where I could’t walk around school alone because I thought that everyone would judge the way I walked, was. I managed to develope an eating disorder which I’m yet to recover from, I was diagnosed with OCD and I started hurting myself in various ways, I wasn’t allowed to go full days in school anymore and my social life went downhill. Through all of these bad experiences I kept myself from completely destroying everything by watching and listening to BTS. They helped me to pick myself up after bad experiences and inspired me to keep on going. I’m still a long way to go before I’m completely recovered from my illnesses, but I’m relieved to know that I’ll still have some company through this long journey of recovery. BTS are my inspirations and role models and I don’t know what would have happened to me if I never found out about them.

@@azmilazzam9350 Even am a Muslim This comment you just said is totally unnecessary coz their talking about their mental health & how BTS helped them to overcome those struggles! No need of adding religion here. (am also a BTS fan I knew them from 2016)

Honestly, I'm crying. I used to only be a fan of another kpop group. I used to be quietly mean about BTS. I used to be an anti. But look at this man, RM, and BTS as a whole. Look what they have accomplished. Look what they've done for the world. Then I look at my hateful past, and even now I am struggling... And I think about how talented BTS is, and all the people that look up to them, and I realize now that they really do deserve it. These boys are worth much more than I ever will be. They're bringing in positive change, and changing people's lives. I hope they can change mine, I hope they could forgive me. I hope I can also do the one thing they encourage so much: to love myself. To BTS and the ARMYs that were friendly to me, thank you, and I hope I can get over my hate and become a person.

@King ISH x2 King ISH x2 I understand what you're trying to say and I'm very happy that you're moved by BTS's lyrics and personalities. But, please be careful when you are alienating and making generalizations about another culture. BTS do have a sense of cultural/national pride. They may also have a sense of cultural/national criticism. But they are Koreans, and their lyrics and symbolism in songs like IDOL or Ddaeng show that they are embracing their identity as Koreans, not trying to give it up. It deeply frustrates and saddens me when I see fans that think BTS hate Korea or that Korea "is not good enough for BTS". I'm a Korean first and an ARMY second. I would like it if people didn't just use BTS's experiences and lyrics as an excuse to alienate another culture. You're right, Korean culture can be extremely harsh and BTS has written about this. But do you realize you might be viewing it through a colored lens? All you see of Korean society is the part that makes it to the internet- the critical internet public, the plastic surgery horror stories, BTS's social commentary. Do you realize the same thing happens in any country or culture in the world? What do you mean "korean society is nothing like" ours? How would you know this so expertly? It bewildered me how new ARMYS suddenly assume the tone of veteran professors in Korean history...while using entertainment articles and celebrity gossip as a source?? You say yourself that you are a new ARMY but are so quick to explain factually that Korea is a shallow, vapid, critical culture. If a stranger heard about America only through social criticisms in lyrics, shocking internet articles and scandals, then of course they would assume the same. I suppose within months you've become an expert on this subject and feel confident to patronize another culture? It's also sad to me that if you said this about a more oppressed culture people would immediately know it was wrong.. I'm not trying to insist that Korea is superior. Korea has MAJOR problems. I'm asking that if you are not Korean, and dont know a lot about Korean culture, please dont use BTS or Kpop as an excuse to act intellectual or enlightened. There is far more to a culture than its music industry and BTS's intention was NEVER to make fans hate Korea. The purpose of their social commentary was to change certain aspects of their society. Namjoon's parents threw away his equipment...as if "parents punish child for not studying" is a singularly Korean thing, and not seen in any other culture? "Jimin developed an eating disorder"...as if you are completely sure this was a decision he was forced into, and not one millions of people suffer around the world due to their own self image and mental health? Again, you're right, Korea has terrible problems. But do you really have the right to make such statements as fact, blaming all these things on Korean society? I wrote a paper on how alienation of a culture allowed Western media to point fingers and victim-blame in tragedies such as the Sewol ferry. That could explain my point far better, but my point is, when you blame worldwide issues like eating disorders or stifled passions on a singular culture, the big problem os that you fail to see the pervasiveness of those problems in your culture, and end up with a narrow view of a culture through a tiny hole.

ATbelphiel i honestly relate a lot. i used to be a massive kpop hater, especially bts, but i have never listened to their songs, neither have i learned much about them. looking at namjoon there, makes me think of why i hated bts at first.
