Once i was listening to music while washing the dishes, and "first love" suddenly pops up, I hadn't listened to it much...(i am always doing something and would end up forgetting to listen to each individual song without doing anything) and i was listening to it carefully. At his 4th or 5th line i stopped washing the dishes,washed my hands and rested them on the sink, I started tearing up without any reason, after a minute or so I started crying. You can hear how passionate he is. Especially while singing this song his passion for music is just...I can't even explain it. I respect and love him so much.

I used to hate rap songs, but then I realised I was looking at the side of the field that was not of my preference. When I first heard Suga’s rap, I fell in love with rap songs. Suga raps with so much variation and style. His rapping is filled with emotions. The first solo I heard by Suga was Interlude : Shadow, and I realised what type of rapping I love. Then I looked through more, I mean he is just awesome. Suga raps about his first love for the piano, his childhood dreams and how he dealt with haters, and I love that fact. Not just that, he sings with so much emotions. He conveys every word in a song with emotions. One doesn't need to understand the lyrics to understand the song when Suga is the rapper.

He went through so much to get to where he is now, it makes me so proud to hear him rap about his personal experiences because ARMYs around the world can relate to his passion. It's really beautiful. The determination and absolute LOVE he has for music is so evident in his voice and actions as a part of BTS. This was the first song I heard. When I first listened to it, I could really feel his emotions so I wondered what the lyrics were about. And I was literally bawling my eyes out after reading the lyrics. Never in my life have I ever felt so connected to a song, to a person who I don't even know personally. and idk it's weird cause I'm not even a fan of BTS. But I just love his music. I would always listen to his music whenever I feel down or sad. Although it makes me cry harder lol. I feel the exact same way. Although I really tried hard to get into the other members music as well, but I failed. All members seem talented and especially Namjoon has perfected the craft of writing lyrics, he is better than Yoongi in that regard. Still, none of them are as honest, as raw or as vunerable as Yoongis lyrics and music. None of them ever take any risk in their music and I cannot help but feel like it is always somewhat too polished and a bit superficial, wich is not the members direct fault but the current music industries, but thats why I cant really stand to listen to it.

- " Even if I go, don't worry because you'll do well on your own " - " You put a period on our relationship, but don't be sorry towards me " - " Without you I am nothing " - " Clutching my smashed shoulder, I said that ' I wouldn't be able to do this anymore. ' Every time I wanted to give up you said, from next to me, ' Kid, you really can do it ' " - And then the whole lyrics from 2:14-2:37 These were all the lyrics that really got to me and dug deep. No matter how many times I listen to this song, I cry every time (especially when these lyrics come up) because of how beautiful the lyrics are and if you know and understand Korean, you'd know that the meaning is even more beautiful and emotional especially when Suga says 새꺄 (the part where he goes like 'kid') because this word is usually used in a sort of aggressive way?? I don't really know how to say this but in English, the connotation of 'kid' is different than the connotation of 새꺄 because although the Korean version of kid is a little bit aggressive, it sounds very encouraging in the way Suga uses it since it seems like the piano, who is the one speaking, is knocking some sense into younger Min Yoongi by addressing him in an aggressive sort of way. The reason why I love this song so much and also The Last from August D's mixtape is because I love the way he expresses these emotions. It sounds very similar to real life because other songs would sing these slow and sad songs to express these ideas of giving up and feeling like you can't go on much further while Suga has this special way of using aggression to express sadness. It shows the pent up frustrations he had when he was still a trainee and just starting out as BTS because of how hurt he was since he was putting in so much effort but getting little to no reward for any of the work he's doing. This is a lot more relatable in my opinion than other songs that are slower and have the typical sad notes playing in the bg with piano and some strings here and there because in real life, when someone gets cheated by someone else, they would first become angry that they were betrayed and fooled but it isn't until later on that they start to feel the hurt and flood of emotions come as they cry over being betrayed by someone they trusted, though by 'cry', I do not specifically mean tears since there are other ways to cry. It could fit into any other scenarios too but since this scenario is the most similar with Suga's earlier days, I'll leave it at that. It is mainly why I love Suga's rap the most because his style is very emotional and though Yoongi seems like the distant and cool kind of guy that could gives zero fucks about everything, he might actually be the most emotional one and is definitely very outspoken about ideas that Korea would refuse to talk about normally. It is also why I adore his mixtape because a lot of his emotional yet aggressive style of rapping was shown there like in The Last, So Far Away, and although August D wasn't really emotional in terms of how he delivered it, it was still very very VERRYYYY aggressive. If you sticked around until you reached this part well then, thanks for listening to some random fangirl gush about how much they adore this song and Min Yoongi's style of rapping (though my bias is still Jhope ahhh sorry bby 3.3) and why he is my bias wrecker lmao

This is exactly why he is my bias. He express his emotions through a different way. He told the story of his depression. He explained it in a rough rap which I've never heard from anyone else. I get really emotional with songs especially this one and 2!3! I really love Suga, J-Hope and RM's rap although my fav is Suga. They are amazing. BTS taught me to love myself. This is why I love them. And I could relate to you a lot. I started sobbing when I read this.

One thing that caught my eye in the lyrics is that in the beginning yoongi describes the piano as a brown piano instead of a wood piano or something. I may be overthinking this, but it's like he's narrating from a child's perspective. Like a little kid wouldn't know exactly what everything is made of, so he refers to the piano by its color. I just thought that was so cool.

I can't really call myself a BTS stan, but in all honesty, I love all of Suga's songs. I always have, but I didn't realise it at first. Back in 2016, I always used to skip this one in particular because I thought it was about a guy who fell in love with a girl and it ended in tragedy (like many other songs in that genre) and had no real interest, but one day I decided that I'd listen to it. So I did, and kept listening to it on repeat before looking up the lyrics. This song (like his others) has so much emotion. Even if you can't understand the lyrics, you can practically _feel_ it in his voice. Such raw emotion, and, it was the first time I ever felt emotion from a song. His songs, his words sound authentic, something that many artists of today can't reproduce. Min Yoongi never sounds like he's just reading out a pre-written script...to me, it's everything he's feeling. He's letting it all out for his listeners to feel it too, to see what he's seen in a way. He's passionate in what he's doing and I respect him because of it. I've always kept coming back to this song and I'm sure I always will in the future. To all of his songs, actually. Easily, I can say he's one of my favourite artists, if not my favourite. Thank you, Suga. Thank you for existing, thank you for all your hard work, and thank you so much for your music. oh damn, this is long. whoops, sorry-

@aceofhearts90306 жыл бұрын
+J K I don't consider the ARMY to be the worst fandom, actually. I respect them and their opinions because there is no reason to hate them, but I just don't like the ideals of those in that fandom who basically attack other people just because they don't like the group, or if they say another group is better, etc. Does that make sense? I've seen other people attack ARMY because of what they like, and they naturally assume that all ARMYs are the same. I've seen ARMY attack their own fandom simply because of who their bias is. If you call them ugly, someone will most likely be triggered. If your bias is RM, someone will most likely berate you. I remember seeing comments about how RM should just leave just because he's "ugly," etc. It seems that that's what many of ARMY are, but I've also seen those who respect others. In all honesty the "i can't really call myself a BTS stan" was because even now, two years later, I have no idea where I stand on this matter. Am I a stan? To me, a stan is a hardcore fan, obsessing over a certain person/group, saying over and over how "handsome" they are. A stan seems fairly shallow in that regard, and I don't like that. Maybe I am a stan, but it doesn't matter if you're attractive or if I don't like how you look--all that matters is how I perceive you. I'm sure I'll figure it out though. I'm sorry to make you read this, and thank you wasting your time to respond. I'm also sorry if this doesn't make sense.

I work too i don't have much time And there are those Stan someone who like you who praise enjoy and apparent they work songs , someone who would keep listening to them and respecting That's what I understand with Staning a artist . We all want a equal love when it comes to all members but , that's don't work like that someone is always going to bee more loved than others but at last they all are loved , they all get hate too but we need to focus in all positive aspects , having a member as biase can make us having a biase opinion on fandom too

I think what Piano means in this song is music in general. It's not a person, but it's a thing. It's music that never once left Suga even during his hardest time & during the time he abondoned it, music is the only one who will accepted him without any rejection, it's music that will always give him the biggest support. Now that I think about it, it's a very similar concept with God. Maybe Music is God to Suga. (Edit : This is not in any way meant to be offensive. What I meant by God is not actually God, but the way Suga describes Piano is just very similar to the concept of God. The piano never once rejected him and always gave him endless support. That is it. If you do not believe in God or religion talks triggers you.... ok I cannot say anything about it anyways. Thank you.)
@MrsWackyJaqi8 жыл бұрын
It's probably just the literal piano and his relationship with it, reminiscing the feelings he had when he touched the piano. He gave life and story to the piano through this song, I think that's really important, talking about how he went through different phases of life but the piano is still there. As someone who used to be passionate in piano and used music as escape, it's very relatable because after depression I started hating playing the piano and wanted to smash it out of frustration, because I seem to lose interest in everything. But then I remember when I was 13 I loved it and would play it everyday. So every time I play the piano it has a lot of memories sometimes it can be emotional to even see one. He's a music producer and keyboards are really important to write songs, and the song was probably written when Suga was frustrated. Suga grew up with depression and I guess every time he feels hopeless he'll just think about the piano and how much it helped him into music like when he was a child he never really knew the purpose of the piano. It's really cute.
@sUjU918 жыл бұрын
- The same thought came to my mind while listening to the song. He's not referring to his childhood piano, he's referring to music in general. I know music has always being my get away during my bad depression years as well as a copping mechanism for other mental and emotional things. Maybe music is the same for Yoongi, his get away and copping mechanism. His first love

I do not really see the "cuteness" in this song... all I can think about how honest he is. I do not really care about who is this song about, all I can feel is Suga is a musician that is very honest about his experience. I am a pretty religious person in general, so when I heard this song for a few times, I relate to this song with my relationship with God. There are a few lines here and there that showed support and how the "piano" never rejected him and always trusted him. I am not saying that it really is about God, what I am trying to say is that this "piano" has similar concept with God from the way Suga is describing.

Can we talk about how his voice almost sounds giddy at 1:17? The love and emotion and effort he put into this song made it absolutely amazing... the soft quiet beginning, progressively getting stronger into a full blown passion towards the end, then how it drops off again and becomes all calm again. AND THE BACKGROUND PIANO MUSIC TOO!! It starts off with simple playing, one to two notes at a time. Then as he grows older the background music gets more complicated and complex until it's a full ensemble of instruments portraying his emotions... this song man. I could rant more but I won't for the sake of anyone reading this

Funny actually....I was listening to this for years, yet never read the lyrics. I didn’t really care bout it, honestly. But when I finally saved my courage to watch this, I was.....mind blown. Especially at the part when he said he smashed his shoulder. I’m pretty sure he was talking about the car accident. To think someone who’s struggling in life could be so precious like him. He clearly poured out his life into this piece, why wouldn’t haters understand the suffering they have been through as well. I broke into tears watching and reading this over, and over again.....I’m thankful. Thankful that, he shared something so important. I play piano and never even thought of the feeling being connected with it. But now, I know it’s not just knowing the notes....it’s like falling in love with someone. Like a song that you fall deeply in love with, that you just don’t want to let go of it. And listen to it over and over again. This is how first love feels like....and song. I can’t believe I wrote this....lmao I hope no one read this and waisted their time hkdhsakajsk.... I cried.

@wickedtaart42057 жыл бұрын
i think Suga is the one in bts who really knows how to write so that you feel like he actually experienced whatever he is singing about. he knows how to not just keep saying i love you and i need you and i miss you but actually show how it feels to love someone, to miss someone and to need someone. if that makes sense... like when you miss somebody you dont think "I miss you" it is also a real feeling inside and a change in how you deal with things and how you look at things, for example when you miss somebody many things might keep reminding you of that person. good storytellers dont say 'she was verry nervous' they describe what happens, so maybe her legs are shaking a little bit, or she is worried if her hands are sweaty. what i am trying to say is that i think suga has a great talent in writing and can really show emotion in both his lyrics and his rapping. if you for some reason read the whole thing then please excuse my shitty english, i am still learning, english is not my first language.

When I first heard this song, I was doing my homework and had autoplay on. This song happened to come on, and normally I tend to drown out what I'm listening to after a while, but at a point, this song caught my attention and I was able to feel such strong emotions coming from this. The way that Yoongi builds up the song to the climax point where he breathes loud from losing his breath is what got me because you can automatically tell he's pouring everything out with every emotion possible
@asunie6 жыл бұрын
OHMYGOD that's exactly how I discovered this song. I was on Spotify and let the bts albums play through while still concentrating on homework, but then this song actually caught me off guard and I stopped doing my homework just to listen to it, until I realised it was just by yoongi. I was disgusted in myself that I never heard it before honestly! This song is beautifully produced and sung. More songs need to be like this, the emotions that the song lyrics holds needs to be expressed through the voice, and yoongi did this perfectly. I can't even express how hooked I am on this masterpiece now.

I got this in my recommendations 3 years back when I was first hearing of BTS. I saw the title and immediately thought : Of course every single boy band out there has just got to sing about their first love *eye roll*. Still decided to see how he'd wax on for a few seconds and then move on. Except.... I never did. I got hooked right from the start. When I understood that he was talking about his piano. And then his voice. That complex mix of soft, deep, sad and raw just kept reverberating within me. It lead me by hand into this space that his music created and it kept me there. I couldn't leave. I didn't want to. And then as the song went on, the deeper it lead me. I wasn't concentrating on the lyrics any longer. I was too immersed in the journey that his voice carried me on. Deep within me I felt all that he felt. The pain. The anguish. The guilt. The hope. That pure raw and all consuming voice of his evoked emotions so strong that before I knew it I was shedding rivulets of tears. And when the strings came in and he went soft and the music faded away, I let go. It felt like I'd been holding my breath for the entirety and only then could I breathe. It was catharsis so powerful I needed several moments before I came back to myself. And then I listened to it a second time. Read the lyrics. Cried some more. That was the day I vanquished the prejudice I had inside me and decided to give BTS a fair chance...and man that was the best decision of my life. I've never looked back since. For this reason, First love will always hold a special place in my heart. And I will forever be grateful to Yoongi for it. I know this was really long but I just needed to get this out. Thankyou to anyone who read till the end

What if his first love was music, and it started when he first saw the piano. His love for music was always inside him and the piano was always there. The piano was always there just like how his mom was always there for him. He always felt at peace with music just like how a mom cares for her child. So his first love could be music which was sparked by the piano which was always there for him like his mother.

Just some thoughts here - I'm taken aback by how the general gist of his song seems a little confusing to fans, when I think it's one of the best tracks on the album and in my opinion one of Yoongi's greatest masterpieces and its meaning really deserves to be understood. It’s not just beautiful, it’s both heartbreaking and devastating, and Yoongi himself talked about how he cried while recording it. To really understand this track, you really have to look deep into the lyrics - and I hope this review makes things a little more clear? [Although Yoongi himself does say that he doesn't interpret his own songs and instead allows his listeners to make meaning out of his music himself.] “The corner of my memory, a brown piano settled on one side, in the corner of my childhood house, a brown piano settled on one side.” One of the most important lines, this line both opens and closes the song, which further establishes the meaning of the piano and its role in Yoongi’s growth as both a person and in terms of his musical capabilities. Here, the image of the piano sitting in the home is like how the piano is always on Yoongi’s mind, thereby bringing us to the idea of how “First Love” means “music.” It’s not his mother, not the piano, and this is what makes the song so beautiful - the piano is the symbol of Yoongi’s first love BUT it also acts as an extended metaphor and personification of music throughout the entire song. You can see how beautifully Yoongi writes about this by talking about how he left the piano for a while and then returned to it, depicting the ebb and flow of relationships, and how he “awkwardly caressed it,” as if it were a person whom he were holding or cherishing. The piano is very important because it’s a symbol used to depict moments in Yoongi’s life - in the same way when he was a child and he first met the piano, he was smaller than such an imposing instrument, and yet once he became older and bigger than the piano, there was a period of time where he left music and felt much despair from having done so. Showing the different feelings he had due to music, while the piano stays the same, the person has changed, and that in turn has affected his relationship with music as well. “At the end of my teens I tried to set you aflame,” not only does this match Yoongi’s teaser for WINGS but it also represents how hard Yoongi tried to push away music and stop pursuing it as a career, before he realized that this was the only thing he could return to, which is why he says that “he won’t let go of you [the piano] for a second time.” Lastly, pay VERY, VERY close attention to the title - Yoongi describes music like it’s a human lover, and one of the most beautiful lines that struck me in this song was “without you, I am nothing, as the dawn passed, us two greeted the morning.” When you sleep with your lover and awake with them, that not only shows trust and deep affection, but also is the greatest intimate level that you can achieve with your significant other. It also shows how hard Yoongi worked to maintain this relationship; in the same way people practise for hours, Yoongi spent not only days but nights with his music. Music is absolutely not easy and he has talked about in the past how much disdain he faced from his family as well as his own self doubt and hatred toward himself for feeling like he couldn’t do music. A lot of Yoongi's lyrics have to deal with facing societal pressure towards your job and your future employment opportunities, while also trying to achieve your dreams in the midst of such influence, and he himself has said that the goal of his music is to help console youth who are facing these conflicts with not just their surroundings but also themselves. This is the crux of the song - that Yoongi tried to take himself away from his First Love, but realized as he got older that he couldn’t do that anymore. In his darkest moments, the time that he returned to the piano reminded him of why he started it in the first place, and that no matter how hard he tried to leave music, and how long he’d been away from the piano - he promises that in the end what he’s chosen and will continue to choose in the future is music. This song isn’t just a reflection on first love, it’s almost like a movie depicting the stages of life that Yoongi went through. It’s even more beautiful that, true to the piano, this song doesn’t use any drums to carry out the “beat” of the music - it’s rap, almost like spoken word or poetry,, but it forgoes the base line for a simple piano and string arrangement instead. It’s definitely my favourite track of the album and there’s so much more that can be said about the lyrics that this only scratches the surface of what Yoongi’s written. Everything - from the way he pauses to his breathes to his intonation are full of meaning, and I really do hope that more fans sincerely approach this song recognizing just how painful this song is, but also how in its pain it is so heartbreakingly beautiful. EDIT: Additionally, I've also seen some confusion about the line "I feel so nice, mom, I feel so nice." In my opinion, it's representative of the moment concerning how when you first play the piano or an instrument, it's usually because your parents have introduced it to you - meaning that it's not certain whether or not you've chosen the piano out of your own free will as opposed to your parents "forcing" you to play it instead. Remember that the piano is also a symbol of wealth, status, and education - people cannot afford to allow their kids to play musical instruments unless they have the money to afford the instrument, and therefore it's often used to show how a parent is "doing good" by being able to afford to let their child learn many different skills and abilities. This is why it's important - when Yoongi says this, it's essentially him saying that, "mom, I really like this, I CHOSE this, and from now on when I play the piano it's because I LIKE it and not because someone told me to do it." It's representative of the very moment that he decided that he WANTED to do the piano because he loved it, and not because a parental figure introduced it to him.
