namjoon did apologise. there was a line in the song which resembled a twitter user's tweet, something about loneliness. That twitter user called him out, saying he plagiarised from their tweet. and he later on apologised that along with writing his own thoughts as lyrics, he often gets inspired by other people's messages or thoughts. He was touched by that user's tweet, had apparently written it down or memorised it cuz it left a deep impression on him, but months later forgot about who or what the source was. The only thing he remebered was the message and he wrote it down in the song.

That was hardly plagiarism he saw a nice quote in a random tweet that he doesn't even remember but calling it plagiarism makes it seem deliberate as if he went out his way to rip off an artist and pass it off as his own or something. I just hate people and how they are always trying to get him to apologise for random sh*t. I just want him to have a break from it all. I'm glad he has his art and books as an escape from the madness.

I do dislike how ROB never explains the controversies... Namjoon quoted a poem that someone on twitter AND anther artist had also quoted, people didn't know it was a poem originally so he got plagiarism accusations from both sides. The people he was accused of "plagiarizing" were also just quoting. He apologized anyway but he shouldn't have, that's not plagiarism...

16:10 "it's the thing you're signing up for"....yes criticism happens, and yes, we know people can be hateful...but I do believe we have to stop putting the onus on the people being bullied and but it back on the bully. Students get bullied too, do we say they signed up for it by going to school? Just bc someone chooses a profession that places more eyes on them, doesn't mean they need to take responsibility for the malicious hate sent their way. BTS actually addresses this in their track called Ugh. Cancel culture in Korea can be really really really intense and has lead to some idols (including friends of IU and V) to end their life. Yoongi also addresses this in his track Haegeum (which incidentally there was an idol who ended his life the week DDay was released.) RM himself has also shared that during those years of 2015/16 he had thoughts like that himself, besides just anxiety/depression. I personally have moved away from the idea that fame automatically should make someone a target and that that is what they are signing up for. BigHit has an email for reporting defamation and Army aren't afraid to use it, which has lead to charges and irl consequences for those being hateful and malicious.

Agree 100%, very well said. I do think there are cases where people say “it’s what you signed up for” and what they actually mean is just “well, this isn’t surprising” without intending to support the bullies and critics. But it does point to the problem. It’s really sad that harassment and harsh criticism of celebrities has become the norm. It’s something that we as a society need to fix. 💜
@BrilliantHuman

@@watermelontime1927 right, it is an unfortunate occurrence, but moving away from the language of essentially saying, 'what did you expect' is a much needed mindset shift, so that's why I pointed it out. No one ever signs up for abuse... but I know he's not intentionally blaming those in the spotlight, as they themselves have received hateful malicious comments themselves.

I understand that criticism and haters come with public spotlight, but you can't be dismissive when the toxicity is at a level that has resulted in numerous artists taking very unfortunate actions. While this happens around the world, it seems especially prominent in SK. Similarly, there is a culture of idols/actors being forced into public apologies for perceived faults, regardless of intention or context, with the public being judge, jury and executioner. You guys saw the 'hardships' video but that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to BTS unfortunately, and it continues even now. While they never name names, you'll see more of BTS's thoughts on this and the toll it takes when you deep dive into full songs (esp some of the rap line and fan songs).

The Snickers will make sense whenever you make it to the BU (Bangtan Universes), the fictional storyline that started with I Need U. The short film MVs for all the solo songs from Wings tie into the BU and also the book Demian by Herman Hesse.
@z0feya
@z0feya Жыл бұрын
just fyi... each of the boys solo songs from the Wings album were made into "short films" instead of music videos. The videos have nothing really to do with the songs, but rather they are part of the Bangtan Universe (the "BU"), which is the fictional storyline that runs through BTS' albums starting with HYYH. So... RM tattooing himself, Jhope being in an asylum... those things you're seeing are like, midway through an already-confusing (but really cool and dark) narrative. It's not gonna make sense unless you start from the beginning. 😅

Idk if u guys have heard or mentioned it before in one of your videos but there is a kdrama coming out soon based on BTS' fictional storyline that runs through their music videos and other various forms of media. Hopefully u can check it out, there is no set premier date yet but it's this year. The members will not be acting in it and the characters were supposed to have their real names (Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Park jimin, etc) but they changed it after backlash and now go by different names.

I don’t even remember much abt the whole plagiarism accusation, but from what I remember seeing ppl talk abt was something like RM takes notes of many things that inspire him and eventually put those notes into his music. So I think there was a line from somewhere that he wrote down and implemented into his lyrics but when he wrote it in his journal he didn’t right down where it was from. Now I don’t remember if it was the artist who originally came up with that quote that complained abt or if antis dug up the whole thing, but I think I remember hearing that eventually the original artist and RM settled things. (ARMY PLS CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG ABT ANYTHING) However, like it says in the video, bc of this ONE instance where RM felt he needed to apologize, countless baseless plagiarism accusations started to pop up (wasn’t the first time, but definitely one of the peaks), which you saw a bit of. Any time these boys make a mistake and even when they don’t ppl blow it all out of proportion.

Yeah RM did admit that a line from one of his songs was plagiarized. He said he might have done it unconsciously as he is always reading books and other stuff on the internet. He apologized for his mistake. But as expected, other fandoms used this as an opportunity to accuse BTS of plagiarizing silly things like outfits, show graphics, hair colors etc. They even accused BTS of copying other groups' lyrics. But those accusations are without any actual basis. During those years - 2015 to 2018 - they received so much hate that they considered disbanding at one point. Explaining the extent of hate they received in a KZbin comment seems a little reductive, but it really affected them mentally. It's a really bad chapter in their as far as mental health goes, but it was also a really successful chapter career wise. Although I'm happy they were able to become more successful, I'm glad that chapter is over.

The snickers bar represents J-Hope’s character in the Bangtan Universe because in the BU J-Hope’s mom takes him to an amusement park, gives him a snickers bar and tells him to stay there and wait for her but then abandons him and he never sees her again. So you will see J-Hope with Snickers bars in multiple videos because it is a symbol of his character’s childhood trauma.

Guys, the tattoos, pills, snickers(not a product placement) and asylum thing are all part of the BU/ BTS Universe. Their MVs/ songs are not just representations of their personal lives but also mixed with the characters in their storyline. In fact, guys, they will also have a drama coming out this year named "Begin Youth" which is basically the kdrama version of this storyline. It would be great if you react when it comes out. ALSO, guys, I know you're doing so much but since you are kind of reacting to other BTS videos as well. Please react to BTS ROOM LIVE from Festa 2021. This is their song compilation, one B-side from each album. It would be live, something like The Killing Voice.

it was only one incident with plagiarism it was a sentence RM wrote down as inspiration from a tweet. and then later turned into a lyric for one of their songs, not remembering where he got it from. the twitter person pointed it out and accused him of plagiarize. RM came forward and apologized for it. but the haters who works for the other kpop label in korea used that to accuse BTS of plagiarize on practically everything. it was so awful for RM. it is not something you can plagiarize i bet that twitter person got it from somewhere else. that´s just how inspiration works he got panic attacks from it and still has them today, when he read hate comments. it´s so sad that those people tend to ruin someone's lives. and it was fueled by an inside worker at one of the 3 labels in korea because they were afraid of BTS and their success. they tried to stop them. that is the start of how army became so protective. it has been confirmed by BTS themself they wrote about it in their newest book and let's just say er certain groups fans really didn´t like that.

Do they read the comments? I see a lot of things explained in the comments, but then they still don't seem to understand them in later videos and keep repeating misconceptions based on missing context from previous ROB episodes. At the end of the day, ROB is not the whole story. They barely touch the surface on the abuse Bangtan has suffered and fail to explain the context and that the hate and accusations were all unfounded. The headlines are misleading, because the press was also being unfair due to their connections with the larger labels who were trying hard to take BTS down. That's not paranoia, just a fact of the way the music mafia works in S Korea, and indeed globally. They were constantly looking for things to attack BTS on and none of it was above board or held any truth, even though BTS were always trying to calm things down by apologizing when they didn't need to, like the with constant plagiarism accusations, not a one of which was ever founded, and that Big Hit eventually started fighting in court when they could afford lawyers. BTS were extreme underdogs with no connections nor power to protect them and it made them easy targets. All they had was ARMY, and so ARMY tried to protect them as best we could, but we didn't write the headlines.

Unfortunately, a lot of kpop idols tend to apologize to keep the peace just as a standard practice even when they didn't do something, it was a misunderstanding or if people blew it so far out of proportion that it barely compares to what they're being accused of. It's something that my Western brain still cant quite grapple with tbh. I can't get behind the way it's so normalized to cater to netizens on power trips who are doing entirely too much. I was really glad to see that in recent times BTS have stopped doing that and if they know there's nothing to apologize for, they simply won't. Cyber bullying culture gets off on average Joes feeling like they have power over those who have a big platform. Other people already explained the RM situation so I won't get into it but it seems like people online have no idea how actual plagiarism works.
