Exactly, they can try all they want but they will never succeed, BTS didn't come from privilege, didn't have a golden spoon, they achieved everything on their own, that's why they rose to the very top because of the honest and genuine love for their music and fans, thats why they are true artists💜💜

The exact circumstances that made BTS into who they are can't happen again. There would need to be someone taking a huge risk that would shake up the industry if it paid off and then succeeding against the odds. I don't know what that would even look like at this point! But there's a lot to learn from their success. They did shake up the industry - and Hybe labels in particular are doing some cool stuff with younger groups. I think we'll continue to see more idols with creative input, and more attempts to connect with fans sincerely. A little less polish in the interest of being relatable.

The video logs were all released on KZbin, that’s how they started their following. You can call them one of the biggest stars that were born in KZbin. As far as I know, they were the ones who started that trend, and other KPOP groups followed suit after seeing just how big and successful BTS got. All Korean Entertainment companies have been trying their best to recreate BTS’ formula, but have yet to succeed.

I just wanted to point out some things. Bighit treated them a lot better than most companies. When they talked about things they trainees couldn’t do but it then showed BTS doing some of those things. For example: 1. Snacking and eating a lot but you saw the boys snacking on watermelon and eating at the restaurant 2. No going out. The boys went out. 3. The trainees are “forced” to do stuff and train a certain amount of hours. However BangPD didn’t regulate that. He said that they could participate however much they wanted. The boys are just super hardworking and basically perfectionist so they overextended themselves based on the own choice…(also some of it was nerves, and feelings of not being good enough, etc.) 4. The main focus in BTS music is the music first then everything comes after (however everything is basically just as important for them) Etc… Yes they company had rules but it was mostly rules to keep them safe, mentally and physically healthy (the boys themselves over work themselves though but it is their choice, but they have people their to support them), etc. Just like we have rules growing up to help us with all of those things. As they get older things aren’t as strict and you slowly get more freedom. (However if you follow rules you also gain more trust and freedom too)… Hopefully this makes sense… Suga is hilarious but just an introvert. Just like Jimin said, “his is the chill neighborhood big brother”… Also V is shown in the next video because he was the hidden member and wasn’t shown until debut.

Mmmm, there are a lot of things we don’t know. I can never forget when Namjoon shared a story about how in their trainee days he had to sneak out to buy ice cream and when he was walking back eating his ice cream he was caught by someone in the company and he had to just shove the ice cream in his pocket because he was scared of getting reprimanded. Also, at the beginning of their career they were given roles to play, Jin was supposed to be serious and “cool”, he even talked about it before, how there was a point where he couldn’t do it anymore. I think we still don’t know the full story and I hope someday they make an actual, truthful documentary about it with unreleased footage.

@@mar_dma I do agree. I am not denying that they had rules or restriction but at the same time they were treated better than most companies. At the same time these rules for the most part are suppose to keep them safe. As for the sneaking out they are good boys who follow rules so I am sure it would be nerve-racking when you decided to do it (I mean I am like this) but they also were pretty much caught and doesn’t seem like they were really punished hard. I do agree we don’t know everything but I will agree it was better than most companies from what I have seen (also a good company for what they had when it comes to money and everything)….just my opinion…Also I forgot to mention that they even had a time when they yelled out their frustrations on their own bosses lol and I am sure that wouldn’t be okay for most other companies too…just my thoughts

They're genuinely very fond of Bang Si-Hyuk, which, to me, is evidence that while it was hard work being a trainee, it wasn't as abusive as some of what we see. But we do know lots of trainees got cut - and that Jimin was told every month that he was going to be cut. Some of the less savory parts of the industry were (and are) still in play. TXT talk about their trainee days pretty fondly and love their staff, so BigHit is doing something right 😁

Since bighit was not a mainstream/big company and they didn’t have the resources to pull strings from the media to hype up their new group which is BTS, they utilized vlogging on youtube, twitter etc to organically build a fanbase. Hitman bang (CEO) is really a visionary in this aspect because when you compare it to other kpop groups who could debut and have the resources that they need from the media, the creative freedom that BTS had is what separated them from other groups. Also, vlogging made people relate to BTS on a personal level which made them different as well from the “perfect archetype kpop group”. It is rare for other kpop groups to write/produce their own music especially those from big companies who control everything for their artists.

BTS was introduced in Dec 2012 just 6 months ahead of their debut. So they would release those logs as they filmed them. It was released in YT. They would also post on their Twitter account. They didn't have any presence in Vlive until 2015 ( I think it was) and Weverse wasn't even created until 2019. Also, V was the secret member that only appeared on 6/13 their debut that's why he didn't have a log. This is probably answered already, but to answer your question about those blogs: they're actually in KZbin! Even until now, downside is, there's no translation lol. If you want to watch them with eng subs, you can just search them on KZbin as well. There's a lot of translator armys that we hang on to for dear life for this kind of stuff before Bighit graced us with direct english translations. Anyway! Those blogs were uploaded even before they debuted, yes, and some of them were hilarious, some are just heartwarming--they're all just genuine entries from the boys about their lives and feelings at the present. They continued uploading them I think until around 2015? I'm not sure, even after Vapp came out where they usually just stream live in the same format. But they continued to upload these blogs every now and then until they stopped and just posted lives on the live streaming platform. There were also songs by other BTS trainees who didn't become BTS members. So there are pre-debut ARMYs in existence. Can you imagine, following BTS since before debut? I love when pre-debut ARMYs share their experience about what it was like back then. RM, Suga, and J-hope were all signed in 2010, so they've trained for around 3 years when they debuted. @@ylf_sun Untrue. It was a marketing trick. Big Hit had neither money nor connection so they couldn't do it like artists from the big labels. Soo they needed to attract fans in a different way. If you talk on social media about something - in this case that strange, charismatic member that no one knew about (Taehyung was only a vocalist back that) - it attracts others that may become curious who is talked about, check them out and become a fan. Poaching - what you are talking about - almost never happens. It is one of the fastest way to block your own career which would be only bound to the label that stole you with no chance anywhere else. Loyality is so important in at least East Asian countries (a lot of non-Western countries really). Not to mention that he may be your fav but in SK higher voices are more liked, he was not part of the danceline yet and I rather think he did "glow up" (aka only Jin was the visual). He had literaly the least/lowest titles. What he did have was charm and he charmed himself into the hearts of those that were already fans.
@ylf_sun
@ylf_sun Жыл бұрын
@@ruthfischer7615 Yes, it is also true. I believe they wanted to protect their secret weapon from stealing by other label PLUS they wanted to add a mystery to bts' debut. And also 'poaching' is not that rare, big 3 at least have power and resources to offer. Bighit was in financial trouble and loyalty didn't matter that much. Remember how many trainees left the company bc of its financial instability (and left for other companies). For the voice I think it was more about his musical talent rather than his voice. It is more about his face, he was really handsome back then and experts could see how his beauty would increase (his face proportion is great). And yes, V could make contact with everyone which is also a factor to offer him better opportunities
@ruthfischer7615
@ruthfischer7615 Жыл бұрын
@@ylf_sun Poaching is rare. Trading may happen as do cuts from certain labels as do re-debuts but not poaching. Once you singed the label has control and your future is in their hands even when you regret it. You will have to negotiate with them. Lawsuits are tricky, take a long time and are likely to push you ot of the industry altogether. You are unlikely to get CFs or the offer of a K-drama or another label after the contract runs out if you only selfishly follow your interests (the other Idols will also less likely trust you because if you once "cheated" what will stop you from being greedy with them?). You can actually read Mr Bang's answer in Rolling Stone: The Future of Music BTS 1352 June 2021: "V, a fan of jazz, classical music, and Elvis Presley, with a distinct baritone, ended up a Big Hit trainee by accident, after showing uo to support an auditioning friend. He was a "hidden member," who didn't appear on camera in the endless vlogs and other ingenious online promotion that preceded BTS' debut in June 2013. "I actually can't understand it whatsoever," he says now, wih a laugh. "Why did they do that? why was that the concept? I really had no idea!" (Si-hyuk belatedly offers an answer: "We needed momentum to announce that the team called BTS was finally complete. V had great charms in terms of appearance and personality, so I thought it would be impactful when he was revealed last. It was an effective strategy in forming the team's overall image, as well as leaving an impression of each member.") p. 32 aka. marketing.

there is no way of creating another bts because what sets them apart (aside from quality) is their genuineness and authenticity. if you start a group with the particular goal of replicating their success, you immediately lose that authenticity and you fail already.

There is nothing like Bangtan and nothing will ever come close, that I am sure of… they are by far now the biggest in the world and nothing compares to these 7 legends. To be fair BTS is bigger than kpop BTS are global artist changing the world and for years they have been part of the daily lives of millions including me yet they are still greatly misunderstood, underestimated and undervalued by many people in the music industry and in the world The more you know about them their story and journey their music their messages their relationship and bond with each other and with us ARMYs the more you will realize I wasn’t even exaggerating. I hope your journey of falling for them continues, it is rewarding to be an ARMY, to love, trust support and cheer BTS and it’s a serious commitment for life to a lot of us

This is a new exciting road for you in your BTS journey. Towards the end you guys wondered where they posted their logs... it was on KZbin. Back then, there was no Vlive or Weverse yet. Those platforms came later, after their debut. The boys created social media presence even before they debuted, hence they already had international fans/followers when they made their debut in June 2013. Thanks to their visionary CEO Bang SiHyuk (a.k.a. Bang PD, Hitman Bang), their training structure was somewhat different from the "mainstream" companies/agencies.

so excited for this and yes this will show you how diffrent BTS is from the rest of kpop. many newer groups made their formula similar to BTS in different areas. now vlogs are a must. and for me i can´t help but think it´s fake. the idols should do it because they really want to connect with their fans not because they are forced to. it screams made up. but BTS did everything first so they just tried different things on their own and it was so natural and honest. i like when artist have something unique and dont do what others did. therefore i really love the older classic songs from the US. MJ was like that and Elvis and prince they each made an impression on the music in different ways.

Actually most other kpop idols speak english fluently, mostly because the companies recruit them with the aim of western expansion in mind (like korean americans, those who grew up outside of korea etc while some specifically diversify in terms of nationality as well). BTS is a notable exception of that, because they never really anticipated the global success or prepared for it. And the logs were released on youtube. They were the ones who started the trend, including behind the scenes videos as logs too and many groups have followed it since then

i'm so happy you guys have started this series !!! 🥰it's great that you're going to listen to the songs first and then watch the episodes, that way everything will fall into place,,, also, as you've seen in this first episode, one of the main goals of this series is to show the drastic difference between the kpop industry (how they treat their trainees and basically don't let groups have any say in their discography, the strict diets etc) and bts, who had the freedom to do whatever they want and make their own creative choices and sound from the very beginning, all while staying true to themselves and building a strong connection with each other and of course, army 💜 (ps: i'm also hoping you'll start run bts one of these days, your reactions to the yoga episodes were hilarious)

Thanks so much for doing this. This is some of the most detailed, exacting, & emotional editing I've ever seen-Aneesa is an expert. I got goosebumps the same time as you. Feb is my one year ARMY anniversay and TRoB was essentail to my BTS education and growth. It makes me imagine that I was (almost) there with them from their beginning. BTS' KZbin vlogs will be considered "historical documents" and put in their museum one day.

38:50 These old vlogs are still on the BANGTANTV YT channel. All old vlogs don't have subtitles. Those vlogs are the roots of the HYBE channels,, etc.. This is one of many reasons ARMY calls "BTS paved the way"🙏🏻💜 Note : RM and Suga are in charge of all the old daily vlogs. And they directly uploaded it without editing them (Suga said this in one of their old interviews after debut).

Here is what I've found. I do love the other Hybe groups that are "younger brothers" under BTS. They are very talented as a group and have surprised me and exceeded my expectations. But no group has individual talent like BTS! Every BTS member can stand alone and succeed with their solo work as they are proving to us now. Each member is "Out of this World" talented with potential to even get better and better as they explore their new paths! To me it really is a kind of a miracle how they all came together, developed their talent, and still want to work together after they all do their military service. And they aren't just talented in one area ...they are multi talented in all areas of art and performance!

The song that the vocal line was singing in the credits it's 'You're My' by Taeyang (The same singer that collaborated with Jimin for 'Vibe'). You guys were asking that because it didn't sound like it would be in 2 cool 4skool but let me tell you they have been always really versatile. For that album they have a song called 'I like it' and it's not as strong and straight Hip-Hop like No more dream and We are bulletproof pt. 2. I hope you react to that song 💜

The long hours in the practice room are a necessity. Synchronicity is the key for a good group choreo and it doesn’t come with just a couple of hours of practice, especially when they where rookies. Also imagine if they didn’t practice enough that part with jimin freaking flying over jhope. They could get seriously hurt. They have to trust that each of them is in their own position at the right time. That’s why they are not just a group, they are a team. Each member has his role to play

at 29:00 you got surprised that they were training for three years before debuting but this is actually very popular in k-pop industry. Some trainies are training even 10 years before debuting and some of them dont even debut even after all those years training! Of course, there are also people who only trained for a few months or 1-3 years and managed to make their debut. But yeah, most of k-pop idols train at least couple of years before debut

Ooooh! So glad you've decided to react to this series! I see some of your questions have already been answered. About the song the vocal line sang at the end of the episode. It's actually a cover. The original song is by Taeyang (yes, the same Taeyang that released Vibe with Jimin). Often when the song is playing in the video, a text box will appear with songtitle, it will also indicate if its a cover and who the original artist is. Running over to patreon now to watch the deleted scenes.

FYI Some of the idols interviewed speak very good English bc they are not from Korea. K-Pop companies will recruit from all over the Asian diaspora--U.S., Australia, New Zealand, etc. So they are native English speakers. One of BTS's big challenges is that BTS blew up overseas but does NOT have any native English speakers who could help them navigate that. The burden all fell on RM's shoulders, as the fluent English speaker. But obviously it's still more mentally taxing for him.

19:00 Keep in mind, a number of KPop Idols are from countries other than S. Korea. Three out of four of the members of Blackpink grew up outside of S. Korea (Australia, New Zealand & Thailand). Amber Liu is Chinese-American. 4/5 members of TXT, BTS' junior group, speak English. Namjoon is unique because he learned his English in S. Korea as an ESL student, rather than because Idol music is devoid of English speakers. It's not really a compliment to praise someone for whom English is their first language; it's more an indication that the S. Korean music industry is more complex & expansive than you realize. Especially in the last 10-15 years, KPop has increasingly looked to the Asian diaspora for its performers as well as its audience. What's sad is that, as Eric Nam has pointed out, so many Asian kids have to travel across the world to have a career in entertainment, because the music industries in their home countries are still so racist.
