The truth untold and fake love are tracks from the second love yourself: tear. The theme of masking is a recurrent message in this project. Also prominent in V’s solo track intro: singularity. This a great album altogether featuring a song for ARMY called magic shop and the heart breaking track from the rap line, outro: tear The use of the flowers metaphor runs through many BTS songs along with butterfly desert into sea and more Sometimes the members are the flowers as in Jin’s solo , awake But sometimes they are used as indicators of fragility, hope, and change Another amazing vocal line track is zero o’clock from the 2029 release map of the soul:7 💜

💜The Truth Untold - for anyone who doesn't know.... this is how they conceptualised the song: They created a very old and sad story called, 'La Città di Smeraldo' that takes place in a small town in Italy ( in the 16th Century -1500's). The story's about an 'ugly' man who hid in an old castle alone, even though he was a gentle good person, because of his looks he received lots of hate & cruelty while growing up. He never opened his heart to anyone. Eventually if anyone tried to approach him, he covered his deformed face with a mask and hid in fear, ...So he became bitter and angry. His one happiness in life was to plant beautiful flowers in his walled off garden. One night a woman appeared near the man's castle. She jumped over the garden fence and stole a flower. This angered the man at first. So he watched his garden all night. But when he fell asleep, the woman took another flower. This continued for several nights. The man pretended to be asleep and watched the woman steal a flower. He started becoming curious about the woman. He began waiting for her. Without realizing he started waiting for her to come and each day began to seem a little brighter. Following after her one day he realized that she was selling the flowers that she stole from him to try to make a living. The man falling in love so desperately wanted to help the woman. But he was afraid she would be terrified by the way he looks if he approached her. He 'knew' she would never be able love his 'grotesque' appearance. He came to a conclusion that the only way he would be able to help her is to keep himself hidden and let her continue stealing flowers from his garden. The man decided to make a flower that doesn't exist on the planet. So that the woman could sell them at a expensive price. He began to create the flower in his castle. After many unsuccessful attempts, the man created the most beautiful of all flowers (The Smeraldo Flower) and filled his garden with these beautiful flowers. But the woman stopped coming. No matter how long he waited she never came back to his garden. He eventually found out that the woman had starved to death before he could give her the flower that would have saved her. If only he had been brave enough to approach her😭 The smeraldo flower plays a part in the Bangtan Universe storyline, and you will see it in various MVs. The Smeraldo flower symbolizes the sincerity that could not be delivered. The moral of the story, as interpreted by BTS, is that people are entrapped in the depths of misery and darkness due to a lack of self-love and confidence. The protagonist would have probably felt much better, had he talked to her and confronted his fears and insecurities. In addition, another aspect is the way people are affected by childhood trauma and dysfunctional families. The man was highly affected by his childhood trauma caused by nasty comments made by people. The Truth Untold and Fake Love are both on the same album -- Love Yourself: Tear. It was their first Billboard 200 #1 album. The album is the part of the the Love Yourself era. Love Yourself was BTS’ 4th era and included in order: Love Yourself:Her, Love Yourself:Tear, and Love Yourself:Answer. Each album explores a different theme and together they create a story arc.

Yes, flowers are a recurring symbol in BTS songs, RM in particular seems to find inspiration on them & references them a lot in his lyrics. Also, you are correct the theme is connected to that of Fake Love. Both songs are from the same album, Love Yourself - Tear. Excellent album. You were correct, this is a "stage mix" video where they take the live track from one performance and overlay multiple live videos to get the best angles/outfits/moments etc. Notice Jin has both blonde and black hair, V is vibrant red in some shots, and JK goes from brown to pink, and Jimins silver/blonde .

This song, “The Truth untold” is based on an Italian story, “La Citta di Smeraldo”. The story describes a man who is said to be ugly and lives in a castle all by himself. Read on it. It’s very interesting. This is one of my favorite BTS songs. Jimin vocals gets me every time. PS. Most of the songs written by RM are inspired by literature that he has read. His an amazing lyricist. Another great & fun song that you should check out is “Anpanman” based on a Japanese children’s book. a story of an unsung hero. This song is so much fun. There are several live performances on YT.

To clarify, it's not an actual Italian story. It's part of the Bangtan Universe: there is a post on the (mock) blog of the (fictional) flower shop were Jin('s character) buys the (fictional) Smeraldo flower. There, the (fictional) shop owner tells the (fictional) Italian lore for the flowers

You can find English translations of the original blog post made by ARMYs if you search for "[The Fourth Story] The Legend of the ‘Smeraldo’ (English translation)". The original one in Korean was deleted and re-uploaded several times (they "reset" the blog almost every time they published "Notes", whether a booklet on an album or the compilation books). The words "The Truth Untold" are mentioned in another blog post, maybe the Fifth or Sixth? It's supposed to be the flower meaning in the language of flowers or something like that

Vocal line songs always go straight to the heart. There is some book or story this song was inspired by. Steve Aoki produced the song and with a number of other writers wrote the song with RM. Hauntingly beautiful always comes to mind when I hear it. I am glad you liked the song and performance.

It was inspired by the Bangtan Universe storyline. There is a myth in the BU world about the Smerldo flower which relates directly to Jin's character's character development, and is based around this.

Nathan - don't translate it! Just learn the Korean pronunciation for the song. There are some more or less accurate pronunciation guides (usually called romanization, it's in the English alphabet). It's sufficient enough to do a cover. It isn't too hard to pronounce. ARMY would truly appreciate a Korean language cover no matter the pronunciation, because it's obvious you're sincere in your appreciation.

The song is basically a Beauty and the Beast story, but with a sad ending. Fake love is about hiding your true self and trying to change yourself to fit someone else's image of you. This song is about hating yourself to the point of not even allowing yourself to be seen by the one that you're enamored with. Because he wouldn't allow her to even see his face, while he was busy hiding and working to create something that could help her, she became ill and died. It leaves him wondering if he had been braver or loved himself enough to have more confidence, would she still be alive if he had had the courage to approach her? Also, this is what is called a "unit" song. Because there are so many members in the group, like most K-pop groups, the members will split into various "units" for specific songs. This is a common unit, called the vocal line, because it's all four vocalists. Songs with the three rappers are called rap line songs. There is also the "hyung" line, with the four oldest members: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, and RM and the "maknae" line with the three youngest members: Jimin, V, and Jungkook. There are also two pairs of members born in the same year: the 94 line and the 95 line. J-Hope and RM are the ones born in 1994 and Jimin and V born in 1995. There are nicknames for most pairs in the group, too. J-Hope and Suga are Sope. Jimin and V are V-min. V/Taehyung are Jungkook are usually called Taekook. Rap/Vocal line and Hyung/Maknae lines are the most common, I think.

Don’t worry about stopping, you can’t do your reaction without stopping. Jimin was ill for one of the performances of this I think. He asked JK to take over his part if he couldn’t sing but he got through it without resorting to handing over to JK. The story this is based on, ‘La Cittá di Smeraldo’ is rather like ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The Smeraldo flower doesn’t exist in real life. You’ll see Jin with the flower in one of their other songs.

Thank you for your BTS reactions and I did love your cover of fake love! About the stopping thing - as a musician and a lover of a well crafted & well performed song - it is hard to hear it stopped just before an obvious crescendo, run or to not hear the song unfold as they perform without frequent breaks. Maybe you could listen to/enjoy the song & then take another few minutes to play it again add your notes/thoughts, etc.? Or at least back it up a bit more with every stop to get a better sense of the entire song/performance? . It unintentionally feels like a bit of disservice to the performance/music - particularity with a song of this type. You were correct - this is a 'stage mix' compilation of multiple live performances. Just my two cents worth/opinion - others may love the very frequent stopping and ultimately your reaction is for your enjoyment, not mine.

BTS albums are usually stories to be appreciated in order. The Truth Untold was in the same album as Fake Love, so they deal with similar subjects and are in the same point in the story. To explain it better, these were from the Love Yourself trilogy where Love Yourself: Her is all about falling in love, all happy and poppy and bright; Love Yourself: Tear is when things start to change in the relationship (where Fake Love and The Truth Untold are), much darker in tone and colors; and Love Yourself: Answer is where they realize they need to love themselves before loving anyone else. Keep in mind that they include all kinds of love in this story.

Their live performance of this song where they were all in those flowerly outfits is the best. Yes there were only 4 of them, the vocal line. I found this song very very sad. The flower was a big motive in that era I think. They used to have this Bangtan Universe which has its own lore. There is this impossible mythical flower in it. Smeraldo I think it was called. It became a very good symbol where a lot of complicated emotions were expressed. Aside from that though, flower is always a good metaphor for a lot of stories of emotions anyway. there are only 4 of them because they’re the tannies’ vocal line - jin, jimin, v and jungkook. the other 3 are the rapline - rm, suga and jhope. this song is a collab with steve aoki - surprising because this is obviously a ballad and i only knew then that steve usually does up-tempo songs. this is also a stage mix, hence the different views and hair colors but similar stage costumes. this is a compilation of the performances of The Truth Untold thanks btw, for your reactions to this song~😊

It's a compilation of various concert videos edited together, but with only one live vocal from one concert throughout...and YES, each album has a theme and the songs on it will both touch various aspects within the theme, but certain lyrics in the songs will callback and echo lyrics in other songs on the same album AS WELL AS callback to previous songs on other albums that also touch on that theme, to create an entire continuous storyline It's like many songs have 'Easter eggs' in them to show ARMY that there is a connection in place that BTS wants us to recognize
