when women say they "hate men" it's a generalization meant to target a specific sect of men who engage in misogyny or participate in oppressive actions/methods, we don't mean the entire male species, it also works to scope out the men we interact w/ bc if a man were to get offended by the phrase it is most likely bc they engage in behaviors that women are calling out i.e harrassment, misogyny, discrimination, racism, etc.

Instead of putting your energy into talking about how unfair it is that you can't say you hate women without being cancelled, maybe put that energy into talking about how unfair it is that women can't walk anywhere alone without being terrified or how the majority of sexual assaulters don't go to jail or how every girl I know has had an eating disorder because of the pressures put on women to look a certain way. the way women have been oppressed for so long by men its more of us saying it to the general male gender. it is so terrifying to even be in a room alone with a man. we're always in a defensive mode if its someone we dont know. so it doesnt matter if its 'not all men'. even men are scared of other men. i do agree with the body shaming part tho. some women think its okay to shame men on how they look which isnt okay at all. also recently in my country a lot of men took one singular incident of a woman taking advantage of her gender to slam the whole of feminism. which is just shitty. and its mostly 90% of men in general that are shitty. in one way or the other. just because it isnt like that where you live doesn't mean it doesnt apply to other places. PS. i dont blame you for feeling bad about the whole thing. i understand how its kinda annoying to see women use it for every little thing but there's a reason why. just like how in my country they use 'the upper caste' to get mad at the ones that are being oppressive. but me being from the "upper" caste still agree with what they're saying.

i agree with what you said... but for the bodyshaming, i'm not. cuz girls too get bodyshamed, and not olny by men. the bodyshaming doesn't have much to do with men and women, it's a social problem, socity gives standars to women AND men, and then shame them for not being like they "need to be". and it's clear that women are more and more and mooore opressed by socity when it comes to their bodies than men. but in both cases, it's a problem.

the thing with the "i hate men" thing is that, being part of that 1/6 is really terrifying, and the fact is we will never be able to tell if we're gonna get taken advantage of until after the fact, you know? it's not really that we hate men, it's more like we will always have to be wary of men because 1/6 is a big fckin number and you never ever know when some nice guy is gonna switch up on you. we are not built to fight off large bulked up dudes, idc what radfems say, we ARE weaker, so we always have to be wary of who might take advantage of us. the sad thing is that almost all s3xual assaul7s against women are by men, and nearly 20% of all women have been seriously s3xually assaul7ed. you never know when it could be you. i hope that kinda clears things up. and ik a lot of people say "the worlds not out to get you" but we're supposed to be able to trust the police and our government too and look where that got us. idk, i'm not some crazy b who thinks every man is awful, like duh, there are plenty of actually great guys out there. but statistically, if i'm walking by myself, even in broad daylight, i have a 1/6 chance of being attacked. that's where a lot of that memeified 'hatred' comes from i think.

the thing with 'i hate all men' stems from the alarmingly global experience (97%) of women experiencing some form of trauma from men. its a generalisation; like i can acknowledge men in my life that i adore and respect, but due to my experiences with other men, i have lost an incredible amount of trust when dealing with those im unfamiliar with. systemically, men still hold more power than women, more so in some countries rather than others. women, in particular young girls, are often belittled for their interests where boys are praised, the entire process around reporting sexual assault/rape ALWAYS demonises the victim (statistically more women and trans people) to some extent, wage gaps are still a very real thing, women, particularly black women, are perceived as angry/bitchy when theyre passionate; whereas men are praised as impassioned and in-charge. people STILL make excuses for toxic behaviours of young boys and men 'boys will be boys' or 'he's teasing you because he likes you' rather than pulling them up on their disrespect. i go into every situation knowing what COULD go WRONG, not what MIGHT go RIGHT. ive personally dealt with misogyny, biphobia, general disrespect, belittlement, sexual assault, r*pe, and violence from more men than i havent, and so for that exact reason, i say 'i hate all men'--its the notion of what behaviours and ideologies we have learned, usually and unfortunately through traumatic experience, to associate with men. hope that explains things a bit

Obviously you've seen all the comments but that's what it is. Women are being extra loud right now for the same reason all minorities are being extra loud. We can, and we have to in order to draw attention to all the little things even GOOD men do because subtle misogyny is so deeply ingrained in all cultures that it's just how life is and has always been. We have only recently been considered more than a father's or husband's property, and the mindsets behind it are slow in changing. Most women grew up with that same subtle misogyny and don't see something is wrong until something loud enough happens. When other minorities make huge sweeping statements about their oppressors, they aren't doing it to hurt the feelings of allies any more than women are doing it to hurt the feelings of good men.

“I hate all men” is not as much a trend as it is a lament for what women have had to face at the hands of men for centuries. Of course we don’t actually hate all men or think all men are horrible, but, unfortunately, we do have to live in fear of all men because we never know when they will disrespect, violate, or take advantage of us. “I hate all men” is a statement of frustration from women because all men benefit from the patriarchy in a way we never will or can. Moreover, many of us have experienced sexism even at the hands of the men closest to us. This kind of trauma forces us to be wary of all men. It’s the same way a POC might say “I hate all white people”. Even though we don’t actually think all white people are bad, we constantly have to be wary of them due to the trauma we’ve faced at their hands. That’s also why it’s different when men say “I hate all women”. It’s the same reason a white person saying they hate all POC is different than a POC saying they hate all white people. Men are not systemically oppressed by women, just as white people are not systemically oppressed by POC. I hope this helps 🤞🏽

Points have been made in the comments. If you just listen and educate yourself you should be good and understand where we are coming from when we say we hate men. Just wanna add that when we say "we hate men but..." we use that phrase to emphasize how safe a specific man/type of man makes us feel in comparison to the other 90% that makes us automatically wary of every man before we are going to be sure they wont hurt us in any way. So thats why this phrase is often mentioned in combination with bts bc they seem like genuine nice and respectful men - the good kind - and we want to emphasize how safe they make us feel (perhaps even DESPITE being men, bc strange men always pose a risk of being the bad kind). The bar is pretty low anyway i feel like, so often as soon as a man shows human decency or even a slightly feminist side/view he will be regarded as the "good exception" to "all men". So, if you really feel actually offended or called out thats on you.

So you know how "I hate Black poeple" is hella racist because they are systemically marginalized but if you say "I hate white people" it's like whatever cause like...how is that "hate" going to affect us in society? Same with men and women. Men have been saying "I hate women" for centuries and they've done a lot about it as well. The "I hate all men" trend is just a response to it, meant to bring awareness to what women go through. So at the end of the day it's more educational than anything. It's not going to negatively affect men in society. The most it can do is cause some self-reflection and change and/or expose some butthurt sexists. ;)

It really is not a trend. I can honestly say that I‘m afraid of most men because of the way women are generally treated by a majority of men. Hate is not towards men. Hate is towards the actions of a huge group of men who are terrorizing women their whole life. I don‘t hate my father or my grandfather and I also have some good male friends. But I‘m hesitant to sit next to a man on the train or the bus. I‘m hesitant to go somewhere mostly attended by men. Men have been touching me and other women on public transportation since I can remember. Even if some call for help, nobody helped. I have to be afraid walking alone in the dark or in the countryside. So many of my friends have been mistreated in relationships. I developed a fear of men. And I live in a safe European country. I cannot imagine what women of more unfortunate backgrounds have to go through.

The “hate all men” thing is meant to target certain men who sexualize and degrade women. A lot of women have trauma that steams from men. For example, I often joke that I have “daddy issues” and I don’t trust most men because of my father. From the day my mom found out she was having a girl my dad never wanted anything to do with me. He blamed my mom for me being a girl and tried to talk her into giving me up because I was a girl, even though men control the gender of the baby because of the two different chromosomes. I don’t know much about him except for his name. I kinda know what he looks like cause I’ve met him two times in my whole life. My seventh birthday party where he brought his girlfriend at the time and she bought me presents he didn’t and on my actual seventh birthday when him and his girlfriend took me and my mom to see Princess diaries 2: a royal engagement where he gave me beenie babies that he stole from the McDonald’s he worked (which I had to give back) and he told me his girlfriend was pregnant and I never saw him again. He only paid child support or wrote me a letter when he had a warrant out on him because he wasn’t paying his child support. And in every letter he tried to degrade my mom and tell me that everything I feel about him was put in my head because of her and my grandma 🙄 I’ve been afraid of men my whole life. Only two men in my life have a ever not been afraid of or felt uneasy around and that’s my grandpa and my neighbor. They are the only two that I’ve never gotten weird vibes off of. So I think it just comes down to experience. But when woman say they “hate all men” they usually don’t mean all but they mean enough men that it sometimes feels like it’s all men, if that makes sense.

Most of us have a lot of trauma because of men so just let us have this. edit: for example. im only 14 and my father left me at the age of 3 after not taking care of me at all. then i had an abusive stepfather for 10 years until last year. the outcome is (social) anxiety, depression, not being able to see relationships as something good anymore, being uncomfortable around men to the point where i cry, and sexual trauma. right now i constantly face misogyny AND racism from boys in school. do you really think its fair to complain just because women dont feel safe around men and use this phrase to cope or have a feel of solidarity?

All women don't hate men, but I do hate when another speaks for me. I get there are those that say, "I hate all men and mean that and for others they don't mean that literally its broader then that. But It's an individual perspective, not a collective. There are some really great studies out on the privilege of men that I'd encourage you to check out if you want and on the subject of how to be an ally. Especially for BIPOC women because there are diff cultural considerations and perspectives to consider. Keep doing you! 💜

I don't hate men, I actually love them when they can behave normally. The thing is I always avoid them because 90% of the time they'll be trying to flirt and I don't want that. It doesn't really count as harassement I guess but it sure feels like it.

do you know there are many girls out there in many parts of countries who are actually assaulted by their real fathers, siblings and cousins!! I just want to say I respect you a lot, Sebastine ^^ but if I respect your opinions or preferences on this then you should respect ours I will never say all men are bad but if we are not safe in our "sweet home" then where are we safe? I feel very upset and this topic is way too debatable many people in your comment section criticised you...........but please don't mind them.......please take of yourself and I love you! don't worry be happy! I will be rooting for you :")

I don't hate men....I'm just scared of men. You're okay, but as a woman...it makes me uncomfortable when a man stares at me like I'm prey. Like literally today...I was just pumping gas while a man was staring me down/checking me out. I was so uncomfortable. Alot of men have stared at me like I'm nothing but prey....and even tried to manipulate (kidnap) me into going with them. Yup, no thank you. But some guys are okay. 10:44 I would faint...I would literally faint on the ground.

I am a woman and I get really uncomfortable at the "I hate men/ I hate all men". I understand the reasons behind this but I can't simply use such a generalized sentence, saying I hate an entire group of people based on their sex/gender, because of systematic cultural practices, biases, discrimination and hate. I can't, because people are never going to be just a demographic collective and I can't understand how one can hate a demographic collective because that info doesn't say, alone, who you are. You can hate an organization for what they stand for, you can hate a certain perspective people have, ideology, attitudes, you can hate people's traits and characteristics. But it is really unfair to say you hate all men when each and everyone of them is a unique individual. I used to hate when people would assume I am a certain way because I am a girl/ woman. I don't want to do that to anyone, especially out of some kind of "payback". I think people don't really mean that they hate men or that they hate all men, but I can't be okay with such statements. I certainly do not want to do use with them a phrase that represents so many things that were wrong in the past. You can say I am looking too much into it but it triggers me.

I honestly do see the double standards too thats why as a woman I dont believe in today's so called feminism. I rather believe in equality most women tend to drag men down to lift themselves and or when it comes to inspiring other women they do so in cases that demoralize the term and its honestly upsetting. I think true feminism comes in supporting women in living a life with fair opportunities in terms of culture, tradition, education and education. Also doing so while inspiring women to move forward in a positive direction that not only benefits themselves but also their society. So no I don't hate men generalizing is honestly digusting and I having have come from a place wrongly percieved as something terrible, know not to encourage it. Not all men are bad and while I do understand that sometimes some do tend to not be good, we would be just as bad as those that think all women are less than what we are if we think all men are badand sexist. Sorry for the ranting.

you know sebastian women suffer a lot and the cause for that most of the cases are men so we need to generalize and we know all of men are not in that way(hope that) at that point we can't trust them so for that we generalize I know it's wrong but is the best and if you have done anything bad at woman so you don't need to feel ofended cuz you know who you are.

To answer your question -> 3:54 I feel like why society is so OK with women body shaming men, is because women are held up to higher beauty standards than men. Like men will get made fun of because how big their junk is, or if they have a belly or something. But women get judged, and have to worry about their skin complexion like acne, cellulite, wrinkly skin, stretch marks from having children or gaining weight , not being overweight, and having a big butt and perky boobs, and making sure that their hair, or their eyebrows look nice so they don’t grow out bushier and wider like a guys, to smell good, and have smooth and soft skin, to act a certain way in public places because we are supposed to be lady like. And to shave their legs and their armpits because that’s what society says a woman should do to uphold her beauty. I’m not saying it’s OK to body shame men, but I just think the reason why society is so OK when women do it, is because of how high of a beauty standard women are held to compared to men. And in end Women are held up to such higher standards, to make them look more beautiful and attractive. But because of the work that they put in to looking *beautiful* to society standards it attracts so many bad and negative men, and people. So while trying to fit in with everyone else they have to worry about getting sexually assaulted, raped, molested, sold, and abused, which is something that has been happening to women for ages!!

I would not be someone who says I hate men...but I am more cautious around men especially when I am alone. Most women have been harassed or worse at least once in their life and I think all women adjust their lives and think about their safety as they do everyday things a lot more. Going to the car, going for walk, taking an elevator, underground parking. Ask any woman and she can probably tell you what she does or changes etc as she goes into these situations (for example I hesitate to get into an elevator if there is a man inside...I may take the next one or take the stairs sometimes but if I do get in will often end up putting my hand in my pocket or purse and holding my keys between my fingers....because likely they are fine and everything will be good....but there is always that chance it won't be). It is something women live with as a constant in their lives and it effects everything they do so I can see how people can easily go from that to resenting men because they can't feel safe and from there to saying they hate men.

You don't seem to understand how deep the topic is. I understand how to people who don't know the phrase 'I hate men' is targeted towards men with misogynistic behavior, not really ALL men, can think of it as a 'double standard' phrase. Hope you learn more about the topic, coz you don't really seem like a bad guy. You just need to learn more, and that can be fixed doing research. We can help sharing valuable information :). I've seen some helpful comments. Hopefully you'll read them and understand the meaning 💜 Also: here's the cute video around 9:10 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIrWe4h6lsidiJY

Your bit about women hating men was really disappointing. Until you get to walk at night or in the early mornings or just whenever alone and not be afraid, then you don't have a say. We do not want to hate men. But it's just there....

Oh please! Until you see a women groom a teen boy but said boy doesn't want to speak up out of fear then you don't have a say! You don't get to invalidate or hush Sebastion either. Abuse of power happens on both ends. Yeah...there are men that are evil, but there's boys/men that have been made to feel the powerless by evil women too.Yes historically this world glorifies/sides with men over women in all aspects, the inequality is ridiculous. But being a survivor of child molestation, having three princes and a princess I'll never justify blanket hate towards all men or women. Its Asinine!
