Becoming a fan of BTS is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me. Back to crying......

Ok this is NOT what I expected from a kpop act, there's so much hype about their dancing skills that i never thought to see one on a Tiny Desk. But fair play to BTS, they do great even without the dancing, even if they're vibing on their own like the guy in the waistcoat and the blond guy in the floral shirt. The music itself holds up, respect to that. That last song is.... idk how it's mournful and hopeful all at once but even my cynical old carcass loves it. "It's been the roughest summer ever" You can say that again :/

@bts-imfine35194 жыл бұрын
You're actually spot on! It is, in a way, a mournful song about longing to see someone again and missing them terribly. There has been some implications that this song is about a horrible sea tragedy in South Korea where a lot of students died in 2014, but it was never really confirmed or denied. So South Koreans have, in a way, resonated with this song to help them mourn.

To everyone that has watched, or is currently watching this video, I have to say that I never would have expected this crossover between BTS and The Tiny Desk. But, I am so happy that it has happened. I have been a fan and have been following BTS since their debut years as a group, to the release of their newest hit song "Dynamite." I have also watched plenty of Tiny Desk Concerts, but this one brings back so many memories. Leading with "Dynamite," the song is upbeat and happy and of course they led with it, being their latest song. But, for anyone that doesn't really follow BTS or isn't a fan of them, I want to shift a little more focus onto their song "Spring Day." "Spring Day" was released back in 2017. If you haven't watched the MV for that song, I recommend doing so. It truly is a work of art. The lyrics to the song talk about winter and waiting for the transition into spring. Winter symbolizing death, pain, sadness and loneliness, is used in their MV concept based off the book "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas." The book's concept is that one individual's misery, means many others happiness and prosperity and vice versa. This can be said about the world we live in today. When the leader of the group Kim Namjoon (bluish hair) and Jeon Jungkook (youngest member and 3rd from the left) say "it's been a rough summer, but we know that spring will come," they are eluding to what's going on in the world today with the pandemic, but also to another concept in the "Spring Day" MV. Back in 2014, there was a tragic event in South Korea where a 6,825-ton Sewol ferry carrying 476 passengers, 250 of them being teenagers from Dawon High School, sank and ended up killing 304 people. What made the tragic event even worse, was that the government was trying to cover it up for political reasons. BTS wanted to pay homage to this event with "Spring Day" and the "Spring Day" MV, so that the event and the people that were lost that day are never forgotten. Listening to "Spring Day" always evokes so much emotion for me and hearing BTS sing it on The Tiny Desk did just that. It evokes sadness and pain, but is a reminder that it will pass. That whatever rough days we are going through are temporary and that spring will come. BTS is more than just a music group. They were counted out so much when they first debuted as a group, but they worked so hard to get to where they are today and I couldn't be more proud. They are artists and I'm happy that they got to showcase that on The Tiny Desk. Have a great day everyone, and thanks for the read!

Lyrically, “Spring Day” is wonderfully poetic, and the tone of its lyrics matches the tone of the song so well. Both are delicately sentimental and melancholy, but at the same time gives the listener a sense of hope and peace. The lyrics tell the story of friends who have grown apart and the narrator’s longing to restore their relationship. The first verse makes it clear that the narrator misses his friend (or friends, as the “you” used in “Even though I’m looking at photos of you” is the plural form of the word) and establishes that they’ve not been able to see each other much. The situation is compared to winter, due to the longing that “falls like snow” as the narrator hopes for a spring day to arrive. The time that “runs through” the narrator’s heart is compared to a lone train going through snow (설국기차 is used in the lyrics, which is the Korean title of the film Snowpiercer). "Spring Day" will remain timeless because everyone can relate to missing someone. Just like the song's lyrics say, it's important to be hopeful in difficult times until your "spring day" finally arrives.

I think my favourite thing about them is their unique vocals. No two members sound alike and it's very easy to quickly identify who's singing. There are no "cookie cutter vocalists" in BTS. More than perfect technique, I appreciate the variety of colour in their voices. I also love to see them harmonize, because as much as I enjoy their individual vocals, it sounds just awesome when they blend them together. This made me smile today, I really needed that.

there's yet 7 years to come - I became fan with IDOL, it's also when I first heard of them, and that was basically after their most succesful album, so I really felt bad and like I was too late. But it's been almost two years now and I followed and will continue to follow the Map Of The Soul. Also, don't blame yourself -which I did- but embrace the years that are to come. Because at the end of the road, you can say you've accompanied them for seven years. And that's a lot. You won't be one of those who'll say, long after they've disbanned: I guess their music was actually nice, and their fandom good, and their story inspirational.' Because they never got to experience the time BTS was active. And you do. I guess what I want to say is this: "you may not have been there from the start, but at least you can be there till the end."

Everything came together just right: song choices, great voices, their live band, a relaxed setting, their natural energy. And this color palette. Harvest gold, burnt orange, and stonewashed demin blues never looked this good back in the 1970s! And pink, purple, navy, teal, turquoise, and tangerine coordinated with rare subtlety in the paisley shirts, tie, and long scarf. The wardrobe, hair colors, set - even their distinctive mic colors - all coordinated beautifully. Visuals as beautiful as their voices.

Performing live will always be their strength. Artists right now have gotten so lazy that's it has become hard to find someone with the whole package and bts truly has it all: insane choreographies, amazing vocals, the best rappers, complex concepts for songs/albums, super down-to-earth and thoughtful lyrics and the love for music. I am a grandmother of 4 adults, yes adults, and yet, I listen to these wonderful colorful young men everyday in a time in our lives when so much is dark, sad, terrifying, they bring sunshine. Turn it up
@koyukiny4 жыл бұрын
I cured my depression bcz of BTS. I could also get through this dark times bcz of positive energy & spirit BTS bring to this world. They are like a ray of sunshine in a very long, dark tunnel for me. Not only their music but also their good deeds such as them donating a million dollars to concert crews who lost their jobs due to pandemic, donating a million dollars to BLM movement, donating to UNICEF and several other charities in Korea, and lowering their own advertising cost for companies affected by pandemic made me not lose faith in humanity and regain hope in humanity. They are just amazingly talented, hard working young men with good morals and great work ethics. They are inspiring to a lot of young people in this age

Thank you for giving their music a chance. They have an incredibly diverse discography which spans all genres. I would recommend looking up the lyrics to Save Me and Spring Day (the second and third songs they performed). Other songs that you may want to try are Black Swan, Louder Than Bombs, Zero O'Clock, Autumn Leaves, Lights, The Truth Untold, House of Cards among many, many other gems.

They performed many online performance for western media, one of my favorite is their performance of "Anpanman" on Today Show. You might love that bcs they showcased their bright, cheerful personality with hard but fun choreography and live singing, just a heads up if maybe you want to see them slaying hard dance moves

Going through the comments is so elating. There are so many non-ARMYs expressing their new-found appreciation for BTS and their music. It cannot get more beautiful than that. At the end of the day, it's really just about the music. I've loved them for some time but their performance here is still new and different. It's raw and pure with just a live band. It should finally put to rest all naysayers who always doubted their talent.

I feel the same way! They have done a few sit-down performances like this before, but not very often... I suppose since they're so heavily dance focused. I LOVE their dance performances, but letting their vocals shine like this is a refreshing change every now and then ^^
