Thank you so much for your reaction! Sadly the boys don't sing this song anymore as they were bashed hard for the lyrics being "misogynistic". What do you think of it? Personally, I don't think it is. The song, as you said, reflects what teenager boys undergo through during that phase - testosterone's high and all. And that the song actuallyis about men admiring women in a wholesome way (ifywim), like suga, in his verse, literally said "If the standards for beauty can be compared with the depth of the sea, you are the deep sea; You are the beautiful cultural heritage and should be conserved by government"... the way i see it is that the lyrics, when analysed shallowly might appear as "misogynistic" as others have pointed out, but looking at the general context, i don't think it is. overall, i think this song is underappreciated. i love it so much 'til this day.

I have no problem with the song, but I also have the perspective of someone who is listening to it years later (I don't think I heard it until 2017-18), older than their mothers, and from half a world away. While I don't see it as misogynistic, on the one hand I was not a feminist struggling in SK in 2014, so I don't like to speak over them. On the other hand, while there is no question that it the song is objectifying- tell me these guys have not been objectified every minute of every day for the past 11 years!

I’m a 43 year old certified feminist and a latecomer to this fandom. I feel like the reaction to this song was overblown and they took literal translations from Korean and tried to apply American slang definitions to a completely different language. My personal opinion is that it’s a really cute song and video. Is it cringey af? Absolutely. But so is being a teen/early 20’s human navigating relationships for the first time. For me in middle age the secondhand cringe is as nostalgic as thinking about all the things I thought and felt at the same age. Why are we holding these guys to a higher standard than we do our own artists? None of it is foul like a lot of what we put out in the US and seem to have no issue with. Even when they’re singing about what they want, it’s to buy her dinner. Hobi holds the door open. They’re still modeling respectful behavior through the “War of hormone”. People need to take a whole chill pill. Plus the choreography and performance is hilarious and adorable. Editing to add that even the hook isn’t “I’m going to do xyz to you” it’s “hello, tell me what you want.”. It feels like people were looking for something to pick apart rather than looking objectively at the content.

V could be super hyper and weird when he was younger. You see it a lot in their live streams, behind the scenes, and other reality content. He mellowed out over the years to the point fans thought something was wrong with him. He can still get silly now but mostly chill. 💜💜💜

This videos is too funny. Their expressions and energy is great. I know they got a lot of backlash but I don’t think it’s bad. They were literally describing what every teenager goes through. I like their older stuff as well, just the grittiness behind it. Completely off topic, I heard Joel mention Wawa and had to do a double take.

I WISH THEY CONTINUED TO SING THIS, idk why people took such offense to it it’s great , they wouldn’t sing it anymore anyway but I early days it was a one and done sadly. Also just find it funny that jungkook goes from rapping to singing to carrying yoongi 😂 another side note they got hate for this but if a GG did it about boys no one would mind 🙄 wasn’t even sexualizing women was just it is what is kinda thing lol it’s funny and a vibe

They were very young. JK was either 16 or 17 (he said 18, but Korean age), so V and Jimin were like 18 or 19. I disagree with the overly sensitive women who said this is misogynistic. It’s not. It’s reality.

This is one of my favorite early BTS songs. Are some of the lyrics crass? Well sure, but are boys of that age crass? That's the point! I think it really captures that age and how young guys think. And you're totally right that girls are thinking it too, but girls just aren't quite as loud about it.

Even if we want to interpret it as crass, the behavior they’re modeling is super respectful. “Tell me what you want” “I want to buy you dinner” “J-hope trying to get her attention by holding the door. We don’t hold our own artists to the standard they’re trying to apply to this song. I think it’s an adorable representation of learning to navigate relationships at this age. I was ready for something gross after reading what people had said about this song. It’s adorable though.

This mv gives a lot of discussion opportunity which I think is good pfft this is my first time noticing RM's hair hits the bunting when he walks under it It really is a lyrical example of them fighting between what's considered civility and their hormones which make them act "uncivil" I hope y'all feel willing to watch some of ARMY's iconic meme content someday cuz WoH was the soundtrack for quite a few of them XD

@@MixItUpPodcast So I'll explain. About 8 months ago you were using something more melodic that blended into the background. I actually did notice the change and mentioned it not long after it happened. I'll tell you why I noticed. It's not the volume, but the short repetitiveness. Unfortunately, I've had to have a lot of nuclear testing this year, and I've become acutely aware of the noise coming from the MRI- not the banging, but the rhythmic noise that comes from it even when the test isn't in progress. The techs were so desensitized that they didn't know what I was talking about... at first. It turned out to be a recondenser that keeps liquid helium cold in an MRI. I hear it every time, even with the headphones on, and it doesn't stop until I'm outside the testing area. I didn't want you to think I was being random, and I dont want you to get a copyright strike for ambient sound.
