I was wondering why you were talking about Buakaw's switch kick at the beginning of the video. Casual Muay Thai pratice here, wasn't so sure about the name of this technique but I mostly knew what to expect. The more you talked, the more I was finally able to understand and see his kick. His movements are so precise that you don't see the loading phase. I can't imagine what this would feel like being his opponent! As Saenchai mentioned Buakaw is an artist of femur. Thanks for this one, I have discovered a side from Buakaw that I wasn't aware of. I could see but wasn't able to understand the finesse behind it!

Such a genius move to master. The right side of an orthodox fighter is where all of their power as well as the liver resides. Aim high and you take out their strongest punch, aim mid and you take out their liver. Aim low and take out their strongest kick. It’s no wonder buakaw spammed the switch kick so much

It is so strange to watch this man in the ring and then watch him with freinds, family and villagers. He changes his personality completely. I often watch how he could take advantage of a situation when he fights but chooses not to. He fights by the rules and stays with that and as for me that is pertinent.

WIth greatest respect to Mr. Buakaw, Mr.Buakaw must have been informed opf the speed differential, we had been taught some decades ago, the speed of attack, say 0.15sec is still shorterter the defence, still above som 0.2s! The lesson all Karate instructors are taught almost all over the world. The same applies to kiccks if applied at a semi-direct reach, i.e. knee or high speed round kick,: IN sum, in my humble practice over 3 decades in martial arts, there is no-one, who can parry it. Only to show the reason , why mr. Buakaw, with all repect of min, too, has managed to win the bouts. Best regards, Paul, 69, Europe,

why do you call it switch kick? Switch kick is when you change stance from left to right or right to left and then kick with your back leg. What buakaw does is standard roundhouse kick to the head nothing is switched there, you can often see a simple roundhouse kick from front leg to the head or body.
@luiseduardo14584 ай бұрын
He uses both switch kick and non switch kick, the switch kick you swap your feets as fast as possible to land a long kick, and the non switch kick is often used for close range PS: Sorry for the bad english, that is my second language and I'm still learning it
@MrMakosi4 ай бұрын
@@luiseduardo1458 It's all good. Normal non switch kick is called roundhouse kick. Favourite of the chuck norris
@milenakupiec18394 ай бұрын
It’s called a switch kick because if you’re orthodox you’d use your right leg to throw a kick naturally. So if you’re kicking with your left you’re effectively switching stances. It may not be obvious because you’re switching the feet really fast. But you can also throw a switch kick with simply stepping forward with your right leg instead of doing the typical switch.
