The city closes many blocks of Calea Victoriei on Saturdays and Sundays to car traffic, during the extended summer season. So people can walk. It started during the pandemic. And it is so great they have kept the program. It becomes like a street festival at night. So many beautiful buildings. Don't miss the Atheneum.

Love this video so much. Romanian/chicagoan here, I love both cities (bucharest and Chicago) for the same reasons; INSANE amounts of green space, extensive public transportation even at night, a vibrant night life, and the large grandeur of it all. They have similar populations in terms of city proper! In bucharest there is no beach...but both the beach and the mountains are but an hour to 2 train ride which isnt that different from when we used to go up to indiana for the dunes lol.

@@JakeBraymiller If you and your gf are still here, don't miss Revolution Square! Very humbling. Across the street from the National Gallery of Art and the Roman Atheneum is very close by. The beginning of Calea Victoriei, the same street you were on that was closed off on the weekend!

@@16dya ur half clueless , embarrasing u saying ur actually a Romanian . prob hungarian troll most likely. you know Ro. has almost a higher GDP then Bulgaria , Hungary and Serbia all combined ? And the buying parity it pass Hungary for the first time ? Im not saying we are a rich country , not even close ! but the economy here its on a transcendent spiral in the last 10y or so and keeps growing every year , by the end of 2024 is expected we reach close to 400bn $ Gdp. And allot of things to see in Bucharest to many to count here, and dont want to lose my time with a born hater anymore. Bucharest has some v strong parts and some bad ones also, its a mix overall , def not perfect but what u said till now is only dumb ,wastefull hating comments .
