Thank you for this video! My Mom is working on a stocking that requires cording but doesn’t say anything about how to make the cording. Lifesaver!

Yay! Thank you! I just did some cording for the windows in my Bucilla calendar (and I had such a hard time of it) so I'm sooo happy to see you do this before I have to do my first reindeer, which I just stuffed the antlers last night and was going to do the corded embroidery on today!

Good timing! By the time I finished the video it had stopped raining and there was blue sky outside. Now to enjoy it. Sounds like you are making great progress on your calendar!

Thanks Debbie! This is my fourth Bucilla stocking but the first time I've had to make cording. The written instructions just didn't compute - I am much more of a visual person! So I just wanted to say thanks for making these videos!

Thank you for your video on making cording. It was very helpful. The directions on the kit I'm making were just not detailed enough.

Always stop to enjoy the sunshine! :0) I have been making pretty good progress. I can't seem to get the outline stitch down though... the one used for the mouth and eyebrows. It says to cord the thread and do an outline stitch. I'm not doing it right, so I just did the backstitch. It looks okay, but I'm a little frustrated that I can't get it. Other than that... enjoying it so far!

Hello Debbie, First, LOVE your videos, so much help, thank you. I'm wondering, have you ever lined one of these stockings? I am on my 3rd of 4 and want to line the one I am working on so none of the threads break with use. Any tips?

Thank you for another great video! Good timing, because I have cording coming up soon on my stocking. Quick question - will you be covering fringe in any upcoming episode? Thanks again - I'm really enjoying making my first stocking - It's the "Snowman with Birds" one from last year..

Hi Debbie, thank you so much for these videos! I have made several kits and wish I would've seen these before I started as some of your tips are very helpful. I am working on the Princess stocking and the personalization calls for embroidering the name using cording, made with four strands. I know how to make cording but I have no idea how to attach it for the name. Any suggestions? I ended up doing the name with outline stitch in plain white but it just doesn't have the same look as the cording with the pink and white mixed colors looks on the package photo. I want to use the outline stitching as a guide to attach the cording, just not sure if I should make little stitches to attach or if it should actually be pulled through the fabric.

+Emily Bixler It is really easy to make the two-tone cording...and yep..I need to make some more videos and this needs to be one of the topics. Basically...you will tie all the pink threads to all the white threads you are using for the cording but keep the colors separate. Where you tied the colors together will be in the middle and your folding/center point for when you are done twisting the threads. The two colors then twist around each other. I would stitch it onto the stocking using a blue thread that matches the dark blue background of the stocking...catching the backside of the cording at least every quarter inch...maybe shorter stitches. I would get rid of the white outline stitching...try a few stitches with it in place...maybe I'm wrong and it will look great having the cording on top of the outline stitching. I would only pull the cording through the fabric background to hide the knots on the ends. That was one of my favorite stockings to make. I never put a name on it...hoping for a cute granddaughter someday.

Hi Debbie, Do you have any tips for making the curls on the princess stocking using the buillon stitch? I can't seem to get mine to look like the picture...any suggestions for me?

+Emily Bixler The key is finding something the desired width of the curl to wrap the floss around. I had a very large and thick needle. It was metal and the floss would slide along it...a pencil or wooden stick didn't allow the floss to slip.I used this large doll needle and also a large needle with the floss that pulled the floss through the wrapped curl floss. I hope that helps. I practiced several times on a scrap piece of floss...use whatever colors you can spare on your practice runs. Look around your home for something that might work...a slick chopstick...it was not easy.

+Debbie Bailey thank you - I have been using a milliner needle which makes it easy to pull through the wraps but they're tight curls. I think I'll finish the stocking and revisit this at the end. Thanks for the help!

Can you give me a helping hint on threading the beading needles in these kits? I've tried every needle threader I can find, and still have a lot of trouble getting them threaded. The floss just breaks usually. Thanks

Not easy! One side of the eye is a little concave so sometimes I switch the side of the needle I am trying to thread when I don't get the thread through the first or second time. The thread goes through the concave side better. It is really a subtle and not obvious on the beading needles. I always clip a fresh edge on the thread and wet it with spit. Sometimes I cut the thread at an angle but a wet tip is key to firming the tip as you push it through the eye. It is a challenge for sure!
