I love that knife. I have mine from 1973. Great knives! As to the leather care, I use regular boot polish. It has kept mine in perfect condition fir 47 years. The blade is still strong snd sharp too, in spite of use and re-sharpenings for decades.
@dutchman553 жыл бұрын
The knife is American made, but the sheath is real leather made in Mexico, which is a really really highly regarded place to get leatherwork done

This knife saved my life four years ago. Someone attacked when I was on a safari, and without this knife I would be dead. It’s on the mantelpiece now.

That's a very beautiful knife. I have the 119. You must have a good heart ❤️ to give your knife to your friend. Your father should be very proud of you for that, not mad. Best to you.

I got the 119 it’s an awesome knife, I might look in to this one. People pay $300+ for a good knife, don’t dish Buck knives you might be surprised.

A great review of the Buck 120! I have one arriving today!!!!!😁
@russeldavis25925 жыл бұрын
Yup the 120 is my favorite in my collection. There's still a couple bucks I need to get yet . One buck will never satisfie you once you own one.

My buck 119 is a tank I will take a buck over a k bar any day of the week.
@glbwoodsbum25674 жыл бұрын
@Optimistic Doomer The handle on the buck knife is virtually indestructible. The sheath is made of better leather than that of the KaBar. The Cutting geometry on the buck 119 is superior. The buck 119 is about half the price of the KaBar USMC.

*Take care of the Sheath.* *Saddle Soap* to clean it ... follow with *Mink Oil* to protect and weatherproof it ... once or twice each year ... That Leather Sheath will last you a lifetime.
@dutchman553 жыл бұрын
Saddle soap and Mink oil both sound like made up ingredients to a mysterious fictitious witches potion. All jokes aside thanks for passing on your wisdom online so us yanks can take care of our leather too

The best way to check sharpness is with the Murray Carter 3 finger edge test. Place the edge of the knife on your fingertips, drag the edge across. If you feel it start to bite into the flesh it’s a good edge. The lower the amount of pressure it takes to bite the better.

I think that is the model I have and I got the knife new at an Air Force Exchange while stationed in San Bernardino, California, and after giving away the model 119 which I had purchased weeks before to my grandfather who loved it and I made it a present to him. I got another model 119 knife last month since I missed it so much and the one ordered and received have my name engraved on the blade. That knife you have is easy to sharpen and will last you your lifetime and anyone else who gets it. That is not a full tang knife so don't do any batoning with it, but instead get a full tang knife for survival use. The 120 knife I got back decades ago had the black handle and the silver color on the end of the handle and the sheath is like the one you have there.

Thanks for posting. When "They" bring out a 10 inch blade with a full tang similar to the frontier with a Bowie blade . That will be a knive !

I agree with what you said about the thin belt loop. You should check into Carl Thomas jr sheaths. He makes high quality leather sheaths at an unbeatable price

That is a beautiful knife and the sheath is great too. I don't like nylon sheaths, leather is far better. I might just get me a 120 as well!!
