It is a legand. I bought mine in 1972 for $12.50 and it is still in pristine condition in spite of all the camping, fishing, hunting trips it's been on. If you have been wanting one, just do it you won't be sorry.

I bought a 301 a few years back, mine came with very light springs but I really like the knife so I didn't send it back. I carry mine quite often. Cheers, buddy!

Really awesome work knife, the spey blade is indeed very close to being a drop point. No bladerubb that i've noticed, thank you Buck for three seperate springs. Thank you Matt.

Howdy: I really like your channel and am a new subscriber. My 301 is an absolutely great stockman. If I remember correctly they used to have two backsprings and a flat grind. Back in the early 80’s the 301 was changed to the high hollow grind and three backsprings. I actually much prefer three. The sheepsfoot isn’t crinked to share a channel and there’s much less chance of blade rub. The slightly proud spey doesn’t bother me at all. The nail nicks are all very easy to grab. The blades all have fairly light pulls…..typical for Buck, which is fine with me.

For whatever reason I didn’t think Buck produced knives with delrin handles, always though they were wood and only recently injection moulded or micarta… learning day again today! Thanks for sharing Slippy 😁

@@SlipjointSawyer I’m hovering over the Buck 112 and the Buck Canoe at the moment… feels right to buy one of them during the week of the 4th! 🤣

I do not own any Buck pocket knives, for whatever reason. Always seemed to have either Case, Camillus, or Imperial/Schrade for the small knives. I think, based solely on peer pressure from BigJ, BBR, Knife Delights, JerseyKG (see comment), and now Slipjoint Sawyer ... need to rectify. Thanks.

I enjoy my 303. I think similar to the 110 vs. 112, the 303 will be the one you carry.

I have the 303. Great little stockman. Good choice on getting the delrin. They seem to be better quality than the Rosewood. I bought a 301 Rosewood at the same time as the 303 but had to send it back for a refund. No snap and the middle blade would not close all the way. I really like the 303 though.
@SlipjointSawyer
@SlipjointSawyer Жыл бұрын
The 303 is another on my list 🫡 shame about the snap on the 301, no issues at all with mine, maybe try the 301 in the delrin 🙏🏼
@deanP.
@deanP. Жыл бұрын
@@SlipjointSawyer Yes. If I get another it will definitely be in the delrin. I just liked the 303 so much I decided not to get the 301.

Slippy buck makes nice looking pocket knives but not strong enough for my carving be OK perhaps carving soft woods like basswood or balsa or peeling fruit that's about it my sak and barlows never get blade wobble coming loose my buck ended up blade flopping about and I'm not s fan of 420 steel I prefure 440 just me I can get scary sharper edge with 440 with 420 I gets it sharp not sharp enough for carving or if I need to paunch a rabbit or squirrel for pot so I use a rough rider stockman steel is much better for me but overall nice looking knife 👍🐾🦊🇮🇹

Thanks for watching John, in my opinion the Buck 420 with the Bos heat treat out shines anything else in its category 🫡 but I've never carved with it

@@SlipjointSawyer try carving different woods see how it holds up many old timer years gone by used a stockman or some pocket knife in spare time to whittle something useful or to relax could be pistol grips or pot hanger or anything even whimsical after all proof is in pudding so to speak i has 4 years carving with a pocket knife i dont use fancy modern tools after all whittling is supposed to be nostalgic 👍🐾🦊
