Came across Buckethead totally by accident, youtube was on autoplay and it was some Slash vs Buckethead video and I was like "who tf is this guy and why are they comparing him to Slash".. He was trollong in the video, playing with some chicken toy and stuff and it got me curious.. Dug a bit deeper and WOW, Slash has nothing on this guy, not even in the same stratosphere 😳

The first song, Hold Me Forever, as many of you know, is for his mom. Nothing changes you like losing your mother, no matter how old you are when it happens. The first time I heard this, I thought of my mom going through horrible pain off and on for 2 1/2 years while she struggled with cancer until she died at 47 when I was just 20. I wept like a baby through the whole 28 minutes even though it happened 50 years ago. I've listened to all kinds of music my whole life and NEVER has any music touched me so profoundly as this man's music. I just discovered him about two years ago. Listen to him almost every day. Now I have tickets to see him in Rocklin, CA in June. I feel extremely fortunate as he doesn't tour much. He's not just a musician. He is a toucher and transformer of souls. So many comments on KZbin videos from people saying that he saved their lives. Seriously, how many other musicians have that effect on people?

Buckethead is a really good guitar player, so good that people don't even give him credit for his writing. The way that he can write such long pieces that just flow together is amazing. Most guitarists fall back onto riffing and shredding, but he writes music more like you'd expect from a classical pianist.

It’s been many years since buckethead structured full songs ( least I have not heard) (maybe I’m wrong) like escape from inbred mountain’ or electric teargas songs. It’s great stuff over holidays and recently, in my opinion they sound like jam sessions. Buckethead has an idea, buckethead hits record button, starts playing. Already set up dialed in Buckethead knows how to make tracks quick. I have NO idea. That’s just what I think, I could be totally wrong

Children, let me tell you a story of a man... A man who, after years of enjoying the colonel's chicken then became allergic to one of the herbs and spices in his signature blend. Heartbroken he gently placed one of the buckets of the chicken he craved atop his head. Surrounded by the scent of what he'd lost he began to pour out a heart wrenching song of love and loss. Some people say he's still out there, pouring out ballads to the flavor that will never be his. Touching hearts with the sweet melodic sound of seasonings.

I'll probably catch some flack for this, not taking away anything from satriani or Gilbert as they both had an influence on his playing. But in more than my humble opinion not only is he on the same playing field as those greats but as of now , right here right now not only does he outplay them but he is sitting in a circle and pedestal all by himself not many if any can pick up the ax and shred so intensely that there is no need for words because his playing invokes every emotion that it literally speaks volumes all on its own. Now I know it's not a contest I know it's art from the top down and vise versa but to me IMHO. No one even comes within the same vicinity as this man! Here's to you Brian! Vai, Hendrix, Vaughan, Satriani, John Petrucci, Eric Johnson, their more modern equivalents, all the good, great, amazing, beyond comprehension guitarists are only second to Buckethead. They have the skills, some were born to play guitar, others are masters of it through sheer perseverance and will instead of any natural talent. But Buckethead isn't just born for guitar, he is guitar. That man and his instrument are one being, he's risen above thinking with his heart and speaking his thoughts through his guitar, he pours his very soul, his entire existence, into every song. Every note is played as if he was making a duet with his soulmate. Each one is a masterpiece unto itself, and a masterpiece beyond it's predecessor. He will never stop improving, and no human will reach his level of mastery for hundreds, if not thousands of years. He is the Neo of guitar, he is "the one". In my years of listening to rock, metal, country, blues, jazz, everything in between, nobody has come even remotely close to Buckethead's level. His abilities aren't just from him being an amazing guitarist, but because it's his purpose to make music. And I live every day happy knowing I get to witness the beauty of Buckethead.

I dipped my toes into the Pike pool a few years ago when, I forget how, I stumbled onto BH. Having those first 10 pikes that I acquired and a hand full of the 'studio' albums. I would jot down those tunes that erupted into such titanic riffage that it stole my concentration away from whatever I might have been doing at the time. Slowly, a play list of favorites emerged. Now, I find these 'Megalith' curated lists... mind blown. It's all mountain of sound, epic, wonderous, 100% rocket sauce all the time. So, thank you, gs. Thank you very very much. I just acquired 15 of these megaliths from bandcamp.

I'm so glad you used the word "megalith." You are absolutely right, these albums are most definitely pillars that hold the discography together well. I feel like if this was to get an update, it would need "Through the Looking Garden"! EDIT: I see now that you've just made a Megaliths Mix #2 that includes the song, so great work!
@lucasgodsave3 жыл бұрын
Through the looking garden is probably my favorite but then there are so many to go through and fall in love with that it can’t possibly be my favorite but then I’m torn between all of them cos they each reach a different emotion or time of life
@FrogCalled2EyedJoe3 жыл бұрын
@@lucasgodsave that is 100% accurate, many songs go through specific seasons with me. They definitely each have their own specific time where it just feels right to listen to them, and you get that comfort from the song and the emotion portrayed
