I did this when I came home after a year in Korea. I had a buddy pick me up at the airport after I told my wife my flight was delayed for a week due to government shut down. He took me to my house and I walked in the house and my oldest boy was sitting in my recliner and just stared at me for a minute not realizing it was me.

I have seen bravery take numerous forms through a fire fighter, emt's, good police officers, teachers, moms, dads, etc...but the bravest of the brave is a person who WILLINGLY signs their life over to protect the people of this country and the freedoms we have. It is a feeling that is so incredibly hard to describe. To be able to hold, smell, and here the ones you love again after anticipating that moment for so long. I mean a lot of the nights that your over there, you wish that you could teleport home even just for a minute. But you dream of reuniting with your loved ones every night, so when if finally happens, the feeling is overwhelming.

Not going to lie. This hits home. I remember having to leave my daughter for a year when she was 6 months old when she was at daycare. They asked if they wanted them to wake her and I said: "no, it's okay." She was perfect just the way she was. Gave her a kiss and that was it for a year.

This is great. It reminds me when I got to see my mom for for the first time after getting out of foster care, and the time when I was 8 years old, I was playing with my friend by the road and a jail van I guess you could call it drove past us and just stopped right in the middle of the road and this man jumps out screaming Devin! Devin and started running to me I looked at my bubby and was in shock like how does this guy know me haha. It was my dad I couldn't believe it. We hugged for as long as we could. The hardest part was watching him get back in that van and riding off. I stood there until I couldn't see the van anymore. I haven't thought about that in a long time. Thanks guys those are good memories.

I know how that feels. My dad was in the Coast Guard and would leave on patrol for 6 months at a time. We would always stand at the end of the pier and watch the ship depart until we couldn't see it in the distance anymore. It was never easy. 6 months later, we'd be back out at the end of the pier, waiting for them to come home, and for him to disembark. Seeing your loved one come home is one of the best feelings in the world.

My dad was in the army so I grew u in a military family and I loved it he came home from a year long departure one day unexpectedly when I was graduating and he came to my school and when I got called up on stage the principle stopped me and announced that they had one more suprise for me I had no idea what they were talking about and suddenly everyone started cheering and I was really confused until I saw my mum at the back of the hall pointing behind me and I turned around and saw my dad and I just freaked and ran over and tackled him and just broke down balling for like 10 minutes.
