DIY Wand Build | The Secrets of Dumbledore Opening Weekend!

A client reached out and asked if I could build them a wand, which just so happens to coincide with the release of Fantastic Beasts: the Secrets of Dumbledore this weekend! I'll take you through the process on how to build a simple wand from wood using basic workshop tools.

bravo. looks great. years ago we made some Harry Potter wands out of sticks in our back yard and some potato peelers to carve them. then we stained them and used a wood burner to make some cool markings.

That's a lovely looking wand. I've started hand-carving some as a hobby and been wondering what kind of hardware I could use as a spacer between the handle and the blade. Love the little touch of the burnt tip you added!

I always find your videos really relaxing Dan. Have you ever thought of putting special features into the wands like leds, glow in the dark elements, magnets so on ? I think a wand with an led in the end would make a great torch.

It would be cool to have an led in the end, a very different making approach for it though! Not even sure how I'd do it with wood

Great video! Love the weathering. Is there a reason you'd use acrylic paint rather than ink or pigment?

Personal preference really, ink would also do a good job. With the paint I feel it's less penetrating into the wood, so I can easily take it back off again to get the weathered look

This looks really well made it turned out great nice job, I’m a new sub and wanted to ask you a question when it comes to painting clone helmets if you don’t mind, I’m personally doing a 41st rangers arc trooper helmet and was wondering how would you personally wither with the camouflage all over the helmet?

Thank you, and welcome! If you've got the paint job down already, the weathering should be pretty simple. I would use browns and a bit of black to scrub into the corners and wipe away. Looks like it would suit a muddy dirty look as it is jungle camo. Just dial in how dirty you want it to be
