The farm that I work on demonstrated a class 990 with a 14 row head. Up against the JD 9900. Much quieter than the JD

Great video, why are there all the track tractors when you're trying to pack silage? wouldn't the wheel machines be better?

Mike, thanks for another excellent video. If silage corn can be dumped in into a semi trailer while cutting on the go from a forage harvester, then why cant small grains such as wheat be augered into a semi trailer while combine harvesting on the go-?
@kennethcarlton2860
@kennethcarlton2860 Ай бұрын
John . We were custom harvesting wheat in Colorado and we were unloading to our semi with 2 combines while the grain cart was busy unloading the 3rd combine on the other side of the field

@John-nc4bl Ай бұрын
@@kennethcarlton2860 Thanks for your reply. Was that unloading into the trucks on the go, (with the combines still cutting) - ?
@Beyonder8335
@Beyonder8335 Ай бұрын
They can and often are, the big difference is that forage harvesters don’t have their own holding tank so they have to unload constantly, while combines can hold a few hundred bushels on the machine itself.
@kennethcarlton2860
@kennethcarlton2860 Ай бұрын
@@John-nc4bl Yes I was running a combine before they had all the computerized equipment . and we never stopped the combines all day . The grain cart needed to chase us down . Hopefully that answers you question
@John-nc4bl
@John-nc4bl Ай бұрын
@@Beyonder8335 You make a point which is correct but sugar beet, potato harvesters as well as some other harvesters have holding tanks/bins, yet they still dump on the go into the trucks. Holding tanks are a good idea to have on some harvesters as it allows for the harvester to continue harvesting. It wouldnt work for forage harvesters as there is too much volume of cut crop in a short period of time to get rid of as you know.

With GPS accuracy, the spout of the harvesters unload chute should follow the centerline of the semis trailer and it should have the capability of being overidden when a second truck is paralleling the other truck and is ready for filling.

Well rounded video Mike! It was great all the way through. Those bunks are huge! From the aerial shots, those huge tractors looked like toys in a sandbox! And what did they do in planting the last field you showed? It looked like a checker board pattern? Thanks Mike!

Hi Mike. What do you think is a better machine? John Deer 9900i vs Claas 980? Let's look at fuel consumption and maintenance and, of course, finances . Greetings from distant Slovakia.

Watching those articulated tractors reaching the top of that pile, is there a certain flex point at the centre of those things ? Doubt they’ll split in half, but must have some wear points you’d have to be aware of. Never really thought of it before. Great video 👍

Good thinking but the track assemblies are able to pivot to follow the surface contours.

It appears to be a Heston "hay stacker". It's not a baler, per se, but seems to do a similar job to today's modern _round balers_ , which replaced them. edited for spelling
