Full 7th inning broadcast of Weslaco's historic softball title comeback. Weslaco scored 8 runs after trailing 9-3 in the 7th to win 11-9. The largest come from behind win in Texas high school softball state finals history! It was also the 1st state title for an RGV-area girls team in any sport that goes through playoff brackets ever.

Dad of a 14yr old pitcher here in SC. Got choked up too unexpectedly. You almost place yourself in those stands, with the same proud heart you have for your own daughter while watching them play. Then all that hard work and sacrifice from players, parents and coaches gets into a flow state and you feel the momentum build and the power/belief transfer between teams. Then you’ve got your eyes leaking! Way to go to everyone on this team, all their parents and coaching staff. Text book grit and talent there!

Imagine that. Going 0-3 the entire game and then hitting a walk-off grand slam to end the game and win the 1st softball state title for Weslaco and the RGV. Andrea Ortiz is just a sophomore. She is literally a legend and still has 2 more years in high school. She'll never have to pay for tacos again in Weslaco. 😆 Pitching matters as it was Waco Midway's downfall. Tough loss for them.

I was out in right field stands and watched the whole thing, praying for a miracle. It was so cliche for a Rio Grande Valley team to be counted out just because they were facing opponents from up north. It was being said around the Valley: “Why Not Us”. They had played 13 innings the night before in the State Semis against #10 Nationally Ranked Denton Guyer. Earlier in the season, they defeated #1 Houston Katy 2-1. This game and that team broke the barriers and displayed what being a TRUE champion is. Way to go WESLACO. #WhyNotUs

The comeback is great, but the most impressive thing about this inning is the discipline of high-school players to rely on their coaches while running the bases. They could have easily messed this up by over running a base and getting their teammates in a jam.

Yes they were power hitters and their celebrations could have dimmed your confidence. yet somehow , some way you prevailed. As the saying goes , ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE.
