You should always start with the second from the top as this is the most important buckle because it pushes and keeps your heel to the right position (just like you see in the video). The 2 lowest buckles should just be tightened so that they don't open (no pleasure on the toes and instep). if you need to tighten the lowest two buckles then you have buckled the highest buckles wrong or the boot is not a good fit. Hope this helps.

So for anyone watching this...this guy makes the same error that I see every other video make. Before you even do the first buckle you need to get the tongue of the liner perfectly settled on your foot/ankle/shin. This might mean you need to push the tongue down, pull it up, make sure it's not caught on any part of the shell, left/right, etc. The ideal feeling is if you closed your eyes you wouldn't be able to feel any of the tongue. This can make the difference between having a numb foot after 3 hours and being able to ski comfortably.
@Roger-zi3xq5 жыл бұрын
someusername121 This. best advice i got is to push down on the tongue before closing (2nd buckle from bottom first!).

Been skiing 47 years and I always recommend a orthotic footbed from a foot doctor or a ski shop. My doctor made casts for the bottom of my feet. Then the two molds are sent to the footbed maker. I transfer my footbeds to all my shoes and ski boots, I had two pairs made. The best thing I ever did. My feet never hurt anymore. Store bought foot beds are much better than what any boot manufacturer will provide but a custom foot bed is what I highly recommend. For me proper heal fitting is key for a good boot too. A loose heal area is not good. I also do not recommend buying a boot online. I have never seen a boot that does not need some kind of an adjustment plus the boot fitter will be able to measure your feet both length and width and ask your skiing ability is and then they can recommend a good boot and a good flex. I like a 120 or 130 flex. I used to always get race boots because I enjoyed club racing. Now I like a good advanced all mountain boot. A good ski shop boot fitter is important in the process of buying a ski boot. Ski boots are not like regular shoes.

Hello I have one foot bigger than another one . Should I wear only one orthotic footbed or both? Thank you very much!
@dphotos0072 жыл бұрын
@@minminzhao1205 I think you need two footbeds made by a podiatrist. If you have two feet that greatly differ in size and it would be too much for a boot fitter to fix I would try on a number of boots with you dominant foot and find the two that fit the best. Then if living in America I would contact their North America Corporate offices and ask if their company can provide you two boots that fit your feet for the price of one pair of boots. You can trying talking to the ski shop first but looking up the corporate officers and writing to the president, vice president of sales and vice president of marketing, the odds are very high the company will make sure they provide you with two different sized boots. I had an older pair of Salomon boots that were not skied much with where the interior lining completely disintegrated and I wrote a letter to the company and showed pictures of the boots and they provided me with a new pair of boots. This was done by registered snail mail. I find writing a nice snail mail letter works better than an E-mail.
@catshoemike2 жыл бұрын
@@minminzhao1205 what's the difference in size? if it's not that huge, chances are you can correct it, not with an orthotic but with a volume reducer. You should still use the orthotics in both boots, but for the smaller foot, it's like a completely flat footbed that goes under the orthotic. For some boot manufacturers, this is actually how they make half-sizes - identical boots but with volume reducers. Even Salomon use one shell for two half sizes, so a 26.5 and a 26.0 have the identical same shell but different inner boots. Your best plan is to go to the best boot fitter you can find. There are pluses and minuses for waiting until you get to the resort. The obvious plus is you can try the boots and go back for re-fits, but that's only if the resort has a really good boot fitter. For instance, Whistler has Fanatyk, Chamonix has the Boot Room or the Boot Lab. Other small resorts, not so much. In which case, go to one near where you live, but leave plenty of time before your trip, so again you can try in the shop, try again at home, maybe go to an indoor ski slope. I used to work for Snow and Rock in a city in the UK, generally excellent. And way prior to that, I've been sold absolute dogs in resort in both France and California, because I'd be happy for a day, then they'd never see me again.

I made the mistake of giving my toes and room and as my liner started to mold to my feet I got more room than what I would Like and have lost all the control I had when my boots were new. so I recommend once you find the size that you can flex forward and wiggles your toes around, go a size smaller. its going to hurt for the first few days but trust me once they start to mold to your feet it will all be worth it.

Hello, when doing the shell fit, how much room should be between the heel and boot? I was taught 2 fingers, but is this always the case? I have a small foot with a very high instep so it’s quite challenging finding the right boot. My current ones feel good but I can fit 3 fingers behind the shell. Is that too much room? Thank you
@rdbjr52 Жыл бұрын
Measure your instep. Take a clothing tape measure and place one end at the bottom of your heel, run the tape across the top of your instep and down to the other side of your heel. This measurement is called the HIP-heel instep perimeter. You may find that this measurement is larger than your foot length. Solomon developed this measurement years ago. Anyway you may find that your HIP matches your boot length. That’s why your feet feel good and comfortable in your boot. Foot length is only one measurement to consider when sizing for a ski boot. Width and HIP are critical also. Three fingers appear to be too much, but maybe not, given your overall foot shape. I attempt to get close to ‘1.5 fingers on length’, but depending on the boot, that may not be possible. That said, I’ve lost a toe nail from toe bang before. The boot was not necessarily to short, but was probably too wide for my foot. Are your heel, ankle and forefoot locked in nice and firm? Do you have good control of your skies? If so, your probably good to go.

Buckeye Sports Center - Okay, but he keeps looking off to his left, which is disconcerting. Looking forward to version 2.0!
