Thank you for introducing this new device. It looks like I’m not the only climber wondering why there isn’t an MRS tending Akimbo-like device. At the moment, I’m daily driving a hitch climber, zigzag, and chicane. If the throttle is pitch tolerant, I’d be interested in trying one out!
@Arb_King6 күн бұрын
@timeorspace it's interesting and is proving well on small diameter rope. I'd like to speak to your question about "pitch" tolerant but I'm afraid I'd have to ask you to clarify what you mean as it's not a term I'm familiar with. Thanks
@timeorspace6 күн бұрын
@@Arb_King The pitch I was referring to is pine sap, which can jam up many climbing systems. Devices like the zig zag and unicender allegedly resist jamming up on sappy ropes. Since my first comment, I’ve had a few more questions surface in my mind: I would love to know if the Throttle can tend slack by pushing from the bottom in SRT mode, instead of pulling from the top with a neck/chest tether. I ask this because I’m odd and like to extend my harness bridge to foot lock ascend on a single line. Thirdly, can the Throttle function in a dragging tail setup? This involves threading the rope tail through a union & securing back to bridge with figure 8, split tail, hand, etc for quick & retrievable stability & positioning or for controlling a swing.

CE certification is expected 8-9 months after US release.

Looks really interesting. I like that it's more versatile for both single and double rope.
@Arb_King18 күн бұрын
The ability to terminate your climbline back to the device makes it super clean and fast. It limits having to connect multiple things to your bridge and i feel like it makes it feed better when climbing on a moving rope system
@troyerthedestroyer18 күн бұрын
@@Arb_King I agree, I am trying out the new RR and it sucks for MRS.
@Arb_King18 күн бұрын
The ability to connect back is so important in my opinion. I did play with the new Notch vertec at TCI, it's got some improvements over the RRP. Worth checking out.
@troyerthedestroyer18 күн бұрын
@@Arb_King Definitely! I like the vertec better than the other RR before but so far after a couple days of using it I don't think it will replace my prusik since I don't do that much SRT and when I do it's easy to just throw my wrench on. The throttle looks more up my alley.

It's a good device and I'm looking forward to the final version coming in April.

@youtubedan1443 i do have plans to shoot some content on rope yes. One man show and busy busy but there will be content coming yes. If you have specific questions feel free to ask.
@youtubedan144316 күн бұрын
@ I would be very curious to see what happens if you pull downwards from the tending point while on SRS. It was a big enough problem on the Akimbo that they made the tending point quick release because pulling down from that location on the spine would just drop the Akimbo down the rope.
@jessebaccus16 күн бұрын
when you do an "in-action" video, can you find the pitchiest tree you can and show us how it does? this design looks like it might perform better than the ~other~ compact mechanical.

Haven't been able to get it to suck in a glove yet. Where the two pivoting levers pivot and the rope enters, its pretty narrow.

You have the one adjustable cam for single rope to double rope. Aside from that, the levers that pivot or intended to auto adjust for rope diameter and climbers weight.

Definitely an akimbo knockoff
@Arb_King16 күн бұрын
@DavidEstermyer it has some unique differences that are unlike the akimbo. The two friction plates that pivot on the top end of the device allow it to self adjust depending upon weight applied and rope diameter making it quick to change from srt to MRS without having to adjust a second friction bollard. It tends very well on single rope and has zero sitback in all of my climbs so far.
@DavidEstermyer16 күн бұрын
@ easy transitioning would be nice
@Arbormedics2 күн бұрын
You could say the akimbo is a knockoff of the bulldog bone. There are only so many designs you can do with making work positioning devices for srt/mrs that are mid line attachable. I really like the look of the upper friction "plates", way different than anything out there.
@Arb_King2 күн бұрын
@@Arbormedics Your are not wrong. You start look at all devices objectively and they almost all have the same top friction point, placing a "crook" in the rope. The throttle is unique in this context for sure.
