Great review. I loved the fact that you covered the ease of getting in/out as this is important to me(old and stiff of hip!) but rarely, if ever reviewed. I like the presentation style and have subscribed👍

Can’t believe it’s taken Honda this long to enter such a Hondaish class. The ZR-V seems to be a good option too.

It's a brilliant all-rounder, but is really only possible due to the CR-V growing a bit to "create" the niche in their product line up 🤣

Good review, went to see the ZR-V ‘in the flesh’ at my local dealer today. I was surprised at the very similar size it is to the HR-V. The CR-V is way bigger but now I am undecided between the Z and the H.
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 5 ай бұрын
The ZR-V is much more practical than the smaller HR-V, plus you get the more powerful e:HEV system based on the 2.0L engine in the Z. Both have great tech and interiors. If you want the additional space and luxury though, go for the Z.

Absolutely loved the look of the car and being petrol we were really looking forward to our test drive last week. Unfortunately nothing will ever dampen my enthusiasm more than the noiseless whirr on start up. Disappointed is an understatement as I'd really fanciedthis motor but looks like the Volvo xc40 is the best we're going to find now. Nothing stand out in class whatsoever on the motability scheme at the moment.

Hi Neil,that's really intresting I've also booked a motability test drive of the Zrv for Tuesday. They are my 2 options aswell. Was it nice to drive? It's the £500 difference I was considering after NCP and good condition. Have you done the XC40 yet or is that to come. I just feel the volvo is going to be put together better

@samhodgson9928 ... hi Sam. So we test drove both the ZRv and the XC40 last week. My wife and I had both looked at reviews on KZbin for both and were dead set on the ZRv.... until the test drive! Unfortunately, whilst I still think it's the better looking car I just cannot for one, get over the noiseless start up... it will never feel right in my eyes. My wife said something about the noiseless drive around Cambridge City centre making her feel nauseous and the suspension in the multiple potholes in the area was way firmer than I would've liked. I was gutted to say the least as I had my heart set on it but you can't change what it is. We went on to test the XC40 the same day and I must say I warmed to it. It starts up like a "real" car and was way more of a comfortable ride we felt. The only downsides from my point of view are the infotainment systems which now seem to do almost everything for you. I'll never be a fan of that but ,alas, that's where we are. I'm normally looking forward to a new motor and, as much as I found the XC40 a nice'ish car; we did actually order it!, I'm still gonna be holding back the tears when we have to hand back our BMW 218i 😔

The powertrain on the ZR-V is one that doesn't make a noise when you turn the car on, because the engine is designed to cut in and out to keep the battery pack topped up, not to drive the wheels directly. The XC40 does not use the same style of powertrain, so assuming it's not the PHEV, which could be silent until the engine kicks in, it will start the engine when you get in and press the power button.

@BuckleUpShow ... yeah.. I get that. But hey.. we tried it. We just didn't like it. Prior to this we'd also tried the Toyota Bz4x and the Hyundai Ionic 6. The last experience in the Honda really put the nail in the coffin for anything electric in all honesty. We are firmly in the ICE camp it seems!!

The PERFECT Family car for over £40000? How many people can spend this amount of money for a CAR? Does anyone NEED to?
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow Жыл бұрын
With around 85% of brand new vehicles being purchased on a finance agreement, the overall price is increasingly less of a concern. Whether people need to spend this money or not is another debate entirely.

surprised that its not sporty seeing as its based on the Civic and has 181BHPwith a stiff suspension
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 8 ай бұрын
The suspension wasn't overly stiff, but at the end of the day, a crossover like this is never going to be particularly sporty if it only has 181 bhp. Sad really, as a smidge more power would make this more fun!

Would you go for this or MgM5 estate?
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 10 ай бұрын
Quite different propositions as one is a full EV. I preferred the tech and interior space of the Honda, but if the estate form factor and full EV will work for you, definitely go for that!

With that boot size it should not be considered “family car”
@BuckleUpShow

You're not actually allowed to leave children loose in the boot anymore so it doesn't have much bearing on how many children you can have in the car

This is the HR-V in the US. Honda Europe should decide whether they want this or the HR-V in their lineup. It definitely looks more like a car than an SUV. Honda's pricing strategy is starting to look a little ambitious and will be interesting to see if that affects sales.
@BuckleUpShow

Erm... We have an HRV, for us its a B segment crossover. Also not really sure what you mean about Honda choosing between this and your HRV as they are just the same car with a different badge...

@@BuckleUpShow It's not my HR-V as I'm in the UK too. I'm a long term CR-V Hybrid owner. Just the way they are pricing this looks relatively poor value compared with the Gen 5 CR-V.

It's the replacement for the 5th gen CRV as the actual CRV is getting a lot bigger in its 6th gen
@maff257
@maff257 Жыл бұрын
@@BuckleUpShow But when the time comes for many 5th Gen CR-V owners to change they will likely look at the ZR-V and find it sits lower, has a much smaller boot and it's just not a CR-V. But with the price increase of the new CR-V they may well start to look elsewhere.

Can’t help but feel it’s outdone by the HRV. It has all the space you’d need 95% of the time in a more compact package and even has the magic rear seats. And looks better too.

The boot of the HR-V isn't as large as this, nor is the interior as spacious. Different models with slightly different purposes, but certain relatively closely matched. Another point of note is that the HR-V is only available with the 1.5 e:HEV powertrain which produces 131 bhp vs the 184 bhp powertrain in this.
