Adam I think. The shelter with the clay chimney. The shelter building is probably my favorite part of the show.

I like it. I don't personally know much about clay chimney's to be honest. I think I would be afraid to use that as quick as he did. I would probably start a bunch of tiny tiny tiny fires over the course of a week or two. Maybe just toss a coal from a regular fire. During the first month, you could probably get away without a heavy duty insulated shelter. Those guys had a lot of clay. I think I would cover the entire inside of the shelter with it to protect it from burning down. If your shelter burns down, you didn't build your shelter right. That's a wasted opportunity for someone else.

Hi ! 👋 "Woniya"... I really appreciate the way you're pronouncing the English words in all your video's. So amazing 👏 😍 for me, to be able to understand everything you're speaking about... You are my best English teacher out there, to emphasize my skills of the "Bushcraft and survival", talking with your practical knowledge and comprehensive analysis. You really make the difference for me, between some good FRENCH FELLOWS that I'm able to appreciate to. Keep on with this music sounds 👌that comes out of your mouth 👄 😏 and so pleasant to hear 😉... of course, I did learn a lot today, again with all your detailed information 😀... Thanks again 👍for these videos. 🧙‍♂️🇨🇦(Québec)

At the beginning you asked us to say who we think has the best shelter so far. I think Adam has the best shelter with his Cobb fireplace and chimney, and flap over the chimney opening. This along with the moss insulation between the logs and the clear tarp windows.

Thanks! I loved my shelter too. And happily it only took me six days to build 😁

Moss House with the chimney got my vote, as well! Adam pointed to the R-value of moss vs timber. The materials used are easier to harvest and handle.

Great recap woniya! I am definitely glad I brought my bow quiver. Given how unbelievably thick the brush was out there, and the fact that I already had a backpack full of camera gear and safety equipment to lug around, the bow quiver was a godsend. Plus, when you have both broadhead and blunt points, being able to quickly pull the exact one you want from the bow quiver is a huge benefit over a back or hip quiver. But like you said, different strokes for different folks! 😉
@BuckskinRevolution
@BuckskinRevolution 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Adam! Yeah, that totally makes sense. I always strapped my quiver to the backpack or tucked it inside the pack itself, but the Arctic was super open compared to where you guys were so not comparable. Dying to hear how your chimney worked out long term, but I'll refrain from asking until more is revealed in the episodes!

I'd like to hear more about the camera and radio gear they require you to have at all times. That's something that most archery hunters don't have to consider. Are you penalized if you only bring small cameras when you are hunting? Are you required to haul a tripod with you? Roland complained a lot about carrying cameras on season 7. Thanks for your insights. Cheers from Alaska
@BuckskinRevolution
@BuckskinRevolution 2 жыл бұрын
@@gregorychaney7604 Specifics about equipment are something we aren't allowed to talk about, but no, there is no penalty for bringing only small cameras around. There is no one else there, so there is no way for them to know what cameras you bring where until well afterwards, when someone in a studio far away is watching the footage. There is certainly an expectation of bringing the large camera and tripod everywhere though and yes, it is a tremendous amount of work and a lot of calories go to hauling and using the cameras! Its definitely frustrating when calories are scarce and every one counts!

Hey Jordan, thanks so much! I watched some of yours this morning too! I have been trying not to watch anyone else's until mine are done so I am not influenced, but it's fun watching after and noting when we say similar things. I watched you talking about how your #of days was more about me than you. So true! You could TOTALLY have gone more than 100 days out there but didn't have the option. If only I had gotten more rabbits and could have helped you set a higher record! 😉

I have to say that Adam's shelter is the best so far. Smoke management is really important. A good chimney helps keep heat in much more efficiently than a hole on the roof for smoke to escape. Moss insulation is effective for heat retention. In the winter a warm shelter is going to save significant calories. The clear tarp also provides natural light. It's still early in the season so it's too soon to fairly evaluate the shelters. Other participants may improve their shelters as well. By the way, I really loved your shelter. It was one of the best of the series. Cheers from Alaska
@BuckskinRevolution
@BuckskinRevolution 2 жыл бұрын
Adam's is pretty sweet for sure. My one hesitation on saying his is the best so far is that it has so much head room, and heat rises so that makes it a lot harder to heat. I'm also worried about his chimney catching fire given how thin the clay looks so far. If she can manage to get a good chimney set up, my vite is Karie's because it has such good pitch for shedding rain and snow and very little headroom- way easier to heat!

I think that with Rolland's season because it was 100 day challenge he knew he needed to build a shelter that would be good for the 100 days, but I was thinking the same thing when he was lugging those huge rocks.

he's an idiot who should have been kicked off of the show for making that ox suffer for 5 hours. He could have trotted back to his camp in 10 minutes or less, cause you're not allowed to move more than 1.2 miles from your dropoff location. In 20 minutes or less, he could have use a bit of his bootlaces to lash his belt knife to a pole, and used the rest of the laces and 3 stones or hunks of wood to make a bola. Entangle the ox's legs, which downs it. Stab it thru the neck, in front of the spine and rip out its windpipe. WTH is the deal, no bow quiver, carrying just one broadhead! what a twit he is. No WAY you can heat up those boulders with anything but a hugely wasteful bonfire. What you want is a little pole tent, stuffed with debris, until it's consistently sub freezing. Then you make a 10x6x6 ft ice and debris quonset hut. Doing so only takes a day. It's air-tight and rock solid, having 9" thick walls

I really enjoyed your observations, all of them. Full of details 👍. Unfortunately I didn't like the place Jesse chose, that slope of the hill makes it very unsafe. Intense rains and a lot of snow can create a risk of landslides or flood her shelter.

Remember when field dressing the animals check the liver to see if the liver has spots ( spots on liver not safe to eat)
@BuckskinRevolution
@BuckskinRevolution 2 жыл бұрын
For sure, but also to be mindful of taking out the gallbladder carefully, because if you bust and drops of bile get onto the liver, it will change the color and it could look like a diseased liver; causing you to think the animal is diseased when it isn't!

Igor was expending a lot of energy building his cabin, but hardly any intake. It caught up with him. He ran out of gas. I would study the lake very good before freeze over. Look for points, drop offs, various depths, structure changes, even adding structure to a point, such as a few cedar trees tied together. I would not make one day. I'm a chicken hawk. If I seen bear track's, or bear poop, I would be on the phone tapping out quick. Begging them to hurry, don't you hang up, lol.

I think anthropomorphism could be rearing its head here with that squirrel. I hear these squirrels make that sound everywhere and none of them are grieving a lost loved one. How do we know that's not one squirrel making a territorial challenge to another, and then being somewhat flummoxed when it doesn't respond either by challenge or retreat?

All they do in this tv show is impact their surroundings in a negative way like a cancer to the earth they cant even allow a tiny squirrel to survive, its death to everything and anything around them you dont have to kill everything. Hopefully one day karma will repay you the same disrespect in life that you show animals, nature and mother earth.
