All of this is great info, it does not surprise me though that the longer CAT ODB A1 performed the best in the setting you were in with the roof etc considering it's overall length. Although, I still find it impressive that the K can performed at the level it did considering overall length and the fact they offer this can in a lightweight titanium option now. I'd say for a designated CQB gun i'd still run the 556k TI for it's size/performance ratio but if I were a customer who only wanted to purchase one can that can do it all the ODB is the way to go.

I've been debating on what to buy more than a year honestly. I shoot 7.62x39 but on an ar platform. It's just for hogs/varmint hunting. I have no real benchmark for performance, I have considered the Enticer L because it seems to have good performance for cost. But the ODB seems great. I just don't know how to justify more than double the cost. Sucks that all the places around me in TX only offer suppressors at indoor ranges lol.
@ConcealedSteel3 ай бұрын
I know that the cost sucks for the ODB but IMO the lack of back pressure is WELL worth it. Long baffle type silencers like the Enticer are awesome for 300 BLK subs on semi autos, but I really don't enjoy them for any caliber shooting supersonic ammo. It makes for a very gassy experience.

I need a 30 cal can for my deer/hog gun, an ar10 in 308, also like use on 556, 300bo 7.62x39 on occasion also. I like the ODB & weight savings of titanium. Ive had couple people try steering me towards the 718 version. I don't think I need the heavy duty 718. I don't use NV either so I'm not to worried about sparking. Did you notice the titanium throwing lot of sparks during the day? I wouldn't think so. Don't see anything on your vid.
@ConcealedSteel4 күн бұрын
I've heard so many people talk about the titanium sparks and it's not as bad as you'd think. I have 4 silencers made of TI and I barely notice it. The only times I have is when I was looking for it at an indoor range with low lighting. It's nothing like a fireball from a muzzle and it doesn't bother me at all. I haven't done any night hunting for coyotes or hogs with them, so maybe I'd notice more then though. If this is going to be your only silencer I'd try to steer you away from the TI ODB. You do have to be careful about how hot you get it. It's great for hunting because it's extremely light, but not great for range shooting. It's can handle subs all day long because they don't get the can very hot, but supersonic ammo get it cooking pretty quickly.

@ConcealedSteel5 күн бұрын
I'd 100% get the hux for that. The titanium ODB would probably be my choice if it didn't have the restrictions that it does. I don't even hesitate to shoot as much, or as fast as I want with the flow 762. The inconel ODB is a beast, but also feels quite a bit heavier than the flow. The flow 762 is the perfect balance of durability, length, and weight IMO, for a gas gun in 308. If you don't mind length and the cost, the PTR Vent 1 is the current king of the hill I think.

Not even close, PSA actually cares about their customers and FN is crap. I'd never pay today's prices for a SCAR but I got both this and the 17s for significantly less in 2016 and 2013. The 17s on the other hand is the best 7.62x51 platform in its weight class.

Talk me into buying a scar16
@ConcealedSteel7 ай бұрын
First, I'm big fan of your channel, I love the no-nonsense content that you put out. The scar 17 makes more sense IMO due to it's light weight for a battle rifle, and stupid low recoil for a 308. The 16s on the other hand is a little on the heavy side compared to so many other guns that can do basically the same things that it can. I saw the 16 on the wall in a store for $2499 about a month before the 2016 Trump/Clinton election and just couldn't pass it up. I mean, I do love the 16...I filed a form 1 and SBR'd it, but it's tough to justify the current price tag of them. Pro: it is without a doubt, a better suppressor host than DI guns are. Pro: I clean it about as often as my galil or an AK, and it never hesitates. Pro: it's cool as a MF. Con: thiccness. Con: stupid expensive. Con: FN is a f-ing annoying company that doesn't get enough replacement parts for the SCARs here, and will probably shit on you instead of taking care of you if something goes wrong (ask how I know this). It makes me feel a certain way when I shoot it, and I enjoy the hell out of it, but I cannot tell you that it's worth the price tag, or that it does something super special that no other guns can do. It'll certainly hold it's value, that's for sure. If you don't like it, keep it for a few years and you'll probably make some money off of it, or at least break even.

Perhaps I missed it but which was the better performer on the 13 inch Scar 17?
@ConcealedSteel7 ай бұрын
It's truly difficult for me to tell without real sound testing equipment. Also, there are different performance metrics that could be better to you vs me, etc. Lol, not trying to be difficult, but it depends on what you value more with respect to noise at muzzle, noise at shooter, open field, closed space, back pressure, gas to shooter. What I can tell you is that both sound very good. The Titanium ODB is 3 oz or so lighter, but the difference in weight is not noticeable to me. They both sound very very good on the 17. They both induce very very low amounts of back pressure (almost imperceivable with both). In the open field I'm not sure I'd be able to tell much of a difference in the sound at the shooter. The Flow 762 has zero restrictions on firing schedule which is nice. The TI ODB can't get over 650 deg F or it will rapidly degrade on the inside. 7 shots on the 17 and I was at 550 deg with the TI ODB.

@kurttlethorup5 ай бұрын
@@ConcealedSteel it looked like you needed modification, I wonder if there is always modification or if some muzzle devices would not work
@ConcealedSteel5 ай бұрын
The only reason was because I wanted to use proprietary HUXWRX muzzle devices with this hub silencer. This is a normal hub silencer and any normal hub mount and accessories will work. Huxwrx qd muzzle devices are not made to work with hub cans. The adapter that I bought and modified is no standard mount by any means. Hub is hub (which is 1.375x24 thread pitch), and will work with any hub, or 1.375x24 mounts perfectly.

@ConcealedSteel7 ай бұрын
No gas with either. Thats another reason that I was pointing out the ejection pattern. Typically the Carter forward your ejection is, means that there is more back pressure, and more gas around the rear of the receiver.

Not what I said at all. I think you should really decide what is most important to you from the factors of, weight, length, muzzle suppression, shooter's ear suppression, back pressure, etc, as well as ability to work on more platforms than 5.56. Also, don't ever forget that wearing hearing protection is pretty much mandatory for anything over a couple of rounds f you don't want to lose your hearing. So splitting hairs over a few decibels isn't worth the witch hunt IMO.

@tehlawlcat I never tried it but based on the ejection that I'm getting it would probably be a little light on gas. I have a discarder on that gun now and I run it down 3-4 click from max open. @@ConcealedSteel Hi. I was a tester on an Operational Detachment- Alpha (Army Special Forces team) back in 2010 and my report highlighted the inadequacies of the piston driven operating system of the SCAR 16 that created unnecessarily heavy recoil, the adjustable gas block that failed to reciprocate the bolt when suppressed, and the reciprocating charging handle that got caught in equipment or hands. The SCAR 16 did not outperform the MK18 which is why my team turned them back in, which we later learned were then reissued to DHS. It’s a cool rifle to have for nostalgia. But I can speak for the Green Berets on my team: The recoil sucks for a 5.56. Which shows in the first few seconds of this video. 💁🏻♂️
