One thing that kind of annoyed me about the seeries though is it never acknowledged how much Bucky was victimized. It tried to make out he was sort of complicit in HYDRA's crimes, when he was never exercizing free will or agency during any of that time. In the movies he has flashbacks of what HYDRA did to him, whereas in the series its what he did to others, and I think that's a very interesting contrast. I think they could have shown both & mentioned how he was a victim and it was OK to be angry about what was done to him, as well as showing him trying to help the families of his victims find closure too.

This video defines Bucky perfectly, and far from the humor that marvel and Sebastian sometimes wants to put into the character so we not feel him so tough, this is what he is. A tormented man who was turned into a cold assassin and now is in seek of peace and redemption for his soul.

You’re a storyteller in its highest form!!! So many times you’ve conveyed emotions and portrayed characters in this excellent way and it just gets to me every time! This is so well done!! You really know what you’re doing and what bringing up emotions is all about!

So happy to see you here! This really made my day better! Amazing to know that you like it that much *-* Emotions are very important to me and I always focus on showing the psychological portrait of the character in my edits. It's a big compliment from you because you're an excellent storyteller too! Thank you so much

Back with some more amazing content I see. I must say I was very caught up in what was happening, very interesting to watch. Love how you handle the dialog over the clips, you're getting better at that. Also, the choice of clips fits the music very well. All in all, very well done! Can't wait to see more ;)

REMINDER: Bucky's therapist is Bad TM. The tactics she uses(deliberately triggering him with the note book, taking his phone via an order/demand, ect), her disregard, her attitude? It is written to be delibratly horrible as a callout of how vets are treated by the system. It isn't tough love, its a continuation of abuse and a power play by the higher ups.
@englishlady97978 ай бұрын
What's horrible is that his pardon is made out to be some special privelege or favour or something. As though he should be graateful for *not* being punished for crimes he didn't commit of his own free choice or will. That's an interesting view on the therapist. I didn't like Sam's response when he finally opened up in the second session though.

I'm curious if any vets with PTSD ever had a psychologist treat them this way. She seems very abrupt and wanting him to work to 'her' timeline, not on his timeline. No one seems to want him to work with his limits. The whole not being able to "wake up and decide who you want to be" goes against everything my therapists have said to me, that I need to be the one to decide who I am.
@Wednesdaywoe19753 жыл бұрын
A LOT of both Sam and Bucky's story has highlighted that vets are often treated like crap.
@englishlady97978 ай бұрын
Yeah, Bucky sounded so sad when he said "I'm not a killer anymore" because nobody believed him and Isaiah Bradley in particular was very much trying ot make out he chose to be the Winter Soldier and got a pardon because he's priveleged or something. Nothing was further from the truth. US Senators and people in the government were involved in HYDRA so it was that some government that were complicit in thier crimes and in Bucky's abuse that expected him to be grateful for not putting him behind bars. Everything about how the series treats his PTSD is *weird* though- how is "making amends" supposed to make his trauma go away? Yes, confessing to Mr Yuri could help him feel less guilty, but its not going to be an insta-cure. I think overall someone needed to remind him he didn't choose to be the Winter Soldier, he didn't want any of that and he was a victim. When he learned to forgive himself he could be in a better position to approach other victims and confess to them or help people.
