This is probably one of the ugliest train stations in Budapest. The other ones are older and look nicer.

I agree with you, it's positively dystopian, although the others are not far behind, from the inside, that is. The earlier building that stood in this place was soc-real yes, but wasn't this ugly. Before that, it was some generic station. It's really time for the Déli to fold its tents and demolish it once and for all as it was planned years ago. There were rumours that the new complex that is right now under construction near the Kelenföldi railway station would act as a vessel for all the transportation that currently resides in the Déli. Unfortunately, there is a dispute about the main building, though it's ugly and just as much in disarray as the Déli, its regarded as a national monument of sorts because it was built before 1900 and they can't touch it... We only hope for the best.

Looks like you haven't tried Rákosrendező. As rundown and stormblasted as you can imagine. Perfect for shooting some WWII or 50's commie style movie scenes.
