Hello A couple of things to add 5:22 Bishop Gellért's statue on the mountain named after him. Rudas is a Turkish bath. It was built in the time of the Hódoltság (the time when the area was part of the Ottoman Empire). So it is older than Széchenyi. A few cities of the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy are similar. On the one hand, because of the common past, and on the other hand, because of the model city of that time, Paris. Transport: Duration-based tickets are available for 24, 48 and 72 hours. Valid for buses, trams, trolleybuses and subways within Budapest, for an unlimited number of trips. I usually buy it when I need more than 6 tickets, because then the 24-hour ticket is cheaper. They are definitely sold at the BKK customer center, I don't know at the ticket machines. The Renaissance palace, which was the predecessor of today's Baroque, was destroyed in the Turkish wars (when the area was recaptured from the Ottoman Empire). This lasted for 150 years, until then it was a border area. It was a bit like the wild west. Remaining memories of the Renaissance past can be seen in Visegrád, as there was also a Renaissance-style royal palace here. 14:41 The design of drains is not a strong point here... :) The tiles on the roof of the Matthias church can be found in many places. Made in Pécs (pronounced pech) in the Zsolnay factory, they are called majolinka. Today, it is more likely that the name Fisherman's Bastion refers to the location, not to the defenders (the part of the city below was mainly inhabited by fishermen). You got it right about the shoes. Towards the end of the Second World War, there was already anarchy in Budapest, surrounded by the Soviets. The far-rights in power (they were called nyilas ( nilash - arrow ) because of their party's emblem) could practically do anything. The Germans here also considered what they were doing to be illegal. However, they did not intervene. The Hungarians also risked immediate execution for any suspected attempt at resistance. There were people who tried to help, but they could only do so secretly. Before they were shot, they took off their shoes and stayed on the beach. The shoes remind me of this. Vajdahunyad Castle is a bit like the Spanish Village in Barcelona. The eponymous castle itself is today in Romania. The Hunyadi family originated from here. Mátyás, who is one of the most popular kings, and his father János, who is known as the Turk-beater, belonged to this family. The bells that ring at noon can also be connected to it. When the Turkish troops attacked Nándorfehérvár (now Belgrade), he led the troops liberating the castle. And the Pope ordered the ringing of bells in churches at noon as a help. The Museum of Fine Arts usually has temporary exhibitions, I think you ran into one of these. The part shown (Mór hall) has now been reconstructed. If I understood correctly, you were here in November. The Christmas market (Dec 24-25) in November is not normal here either. But that's how traders are... If you happen to come here again, look elsewhere in the country because Hungary is more than Budapest.

Guys you are obviously nice and friendly couple, really cool to be around. But frankly you should consider visiting Budapest at least one more time, because there is much more there you haven't really encountered , it seems. River cruise boat was not the best choice for a young couple - it is a little boring and probably expensive. However, there is a much better tour - on a small boat from Szentendre. In terms of baths, Szent Gellert bath is also a better choice for a winter spa visit than Szecsenyi. Also, Budapest has plenty of really cool, authentic and unique restaurants, clubs and cafes, galleries, modern concert spaces, theaters and museums. If Szechenyi bridge was closed down, you should have considered Liberty bridge or Margit Hid bridge - also incredibly beautiful constructions. It seems you were a little bored in Budapest, which is a pity. Its one of the best cities in Europe in terms of affordable entertainment and making a good time. Personally, I think it is better party or concert place than Berlin, not to mention Vienna or so.
