I'm wondering, should one accomplish the green tara mantra before dedicating themselves to any individual tara? Also, are you familiar with The Smile of Sun and Moon, commentary on the 21 Taras by Khenchen Sherab Rinpoche, which breaks each Nyingma mantra into a creation stage, completion stage, and Dzogchen level explanation? Nice to see the many layers of the practice (and also potential material for a future if interested). Wonderful stuff. Thanks so much.

🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏 Thank you, and good question. Yes, it is desirable to accomplish Green Tara first, if possible, but it's not required. Accomplishing Green Tara is accomplishing all the Taras, but the individual Tara mantras supplicate specific activities. Normally, in formal practice, we'll do the Green Tara short or long Sadhana, which includes the 21 Praise Dharani (in any language, but ideally in Sanskrit) and then you focus on the particular Tara form and supplication. We're certainly familiar with Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche's english edition "Tara's Enlightened Activity: An Oral Commentary on the Twenty-One Praises to Tara" which is an amazing commentary and a frequent cited resource for our editors and writers. Thank you. 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏

Tashi Delek! I have Vajrayana empowerments but not for this practice. I had 2 questions: 1 - Is it permissible for me to chant the mantras without lung if I don’t self-generate? 2 - Is it permissible to share this video with a non-Buddhist who I feel might benefit from it, assuming I let them know about the importance of bodhicitta etc?
@BuddhaWeekly10 күн бұрын
🙏🙏🙏💚💚💚🙏🙏🙏Tashi Delek! Certainly, this is Karma Yoga of Atisha Lineage, permissible with frontal generation. It is also a practice of Mother Tara. The main requirement is only Bodhichitta intention, so certainly anyone can watch and benefit and chant. 🙏🙏🙏💚💚💚🙏🙏🙏

Hello, Please any body helpme correct mantra. Om tara tutare ture soha is correct Or Om tara tutare ture swaha is correct
@BuddhaWeekly4 күн бұрын
Yes both are correct. Svaha (pronounced a little like Swaha) is Sanskrit, the original language transmitted in Tara's mantra (Mahayana Sutras are most often Sanskrit). This is the "original language" transmission. Soha is the most common Tibetan pronunciation, although it's actually སྭཱ་ཧཱ sw'a h'a. So, often people use this because they received the mantra transmission from their Teacher in a Tibetan lineage. Pronounce as your teacher transmitted is the most common advice. If you do not have a teacher, you're receiving this mantra from Tara through her Sutra, so you would pronounce in Sanskrit: Svaha. Svaha sounds a little like a Svwaha when pronounced (a little like v with a wah sound.) Svaha (Sanskrit: स्वाहा, IAST: Svāhā). Here is is in other languages as well: Khmer: ស្វាហា; Thai: สวาหะ; Chinese: 薩婆訶, sà pó hē, Japanese: sowaka; Tibetan: སྭཱ་ཧཱ་ sw'a h'a; Korean: 사바하, sabaha; Vietnamese : ta bà ha Hope that helps. 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you soo much for this connecting all 21 taras in 1 video 💙💙💙 Just 1 question- Are All these 21 taras are incarnations of MOTHER Green tara ???
@BuddhaWeekly11 күн бұрын
🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏 Yes, Mother Tara emanates in these forms to show that she helps us with all four activities and in many different ways (pacifying activity, controlling activity, enriching activity and wrathful activity). Green Tara (the color green) is all the activities combined together. There is another practice, the 108 Taras, which we'll cover in future. There is also 1008 Taras. I often think of Mother Green Tara with the metaphor the loving mother of a young child -- normally kind and loving and nurturing -- but then the child is threatened, she rises in wrath to protect her child and becomes black Tara -- like the story of the mother who can lift a car when her child is trapped. When we recite the praises to 21 Taras we are praising all her forms as a Dharani praise. When we recite the mantra of one Tara, we are supplicating an activity. (We break down those activities in the video about supplicating mantras kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYS3i3uAlM2dkLs&t ) The forms represent her specialty activity, and the unique mantra of each is a request of supplication for that activity. Hope that helps. In kindness, BW 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
