Thanks for presenting this discussion. Regarding engaged Buddhism is there any more useful practice as we sharply enter these karmic results of human overreach than to work actively to minimise suffering? Much engaged action is clearly based on attempts to save the world rather than acceptance of our plight from which we will work to minimise the massive suffering that begins to dominate our existence.

Basically Buddha was a guy who paid attention to his human functioning. What could be more simple than that? Suffering is a natural human attribute. It has it's usefulness. It's there for a reason. It's an auto correct mechanism. The prevalence of suffering in life is directly correlated with our behavior. So unnecessary suffering is really the problem.

Suffering is a natural human attribute. It has its usefulness. It's basically an auto correct mechanism. The problem arises with the unnecessary utilization of this function, or in other words, inefficient expenditure of energy.
