It took me a world religion class, a lot of reading, a great courses series, and finally attending a local temple to get to know what is taught here in any real detail. I just want to add, this is a really well done overview that I wish I had available when my little journey started. 🙏🏻

So smoothly spoken, literally like eating candy, it's so easy to understand. I have a lot of reading to do but now I know where to start. I was so stressed trying to straighten things out before this. THANK YOU

I started taking a course on HarvardX about Buddhist Scriptures. I found myself getting frustrated with it. This is a LOT more comprehensive than the HarvardX course! Thank you!

my girlfriend just got me a book that I've been wanting to read it's the first volume in a series called The Library of Wisdom and Compassion and I've only read a few pages so far but it is pretty good about making it a bit easier to understand from what I've read but I would like a buddhist teacher as well.

What Buddhist tradition are you interested in or a general location? Perhaps I can offer some suggestions. If you have a Buddhist temple nearby, that would be your best bet. You can also get our free 14-day Buddhist practice plan which might be a good place for you to start: alanpeto.gumroad.com/l/BuddhistPlannerCOVID

@@AlanPeto I'm not sure though I did find a Buddhist temple like 30 minutes away from where I live and I know that they meet at like 9:30 on sundays for meditation then after I think they go into some of the teachings but I'm not sure there wasnt much on their website from what I remember, just like dates, times and location. and I'll have to look into that practice plan though I dont have a lot of money right now so I would only be able to do the 14 days to start but will probably continue once I have money and if I like it enough

Do you know what tradition/school they are part of? Completely understand about the financial constraints. If you want to start off your practice, you can use the 14-day planner I linked in my prior comment (alanpeto.gumroad.com/l/BuddhistPlannerCOVID). You'll also find links to online sessions by a variety of Buddhist traditions linked in the guide. You can also follow this daily practice in 14 videos here on KZbin: kzbin.info/aero/PLRFx_swvvCHomD_6zwI5y7XlZ0XxJDbWY

@@AlanPeto I'm not sure what tradition they are apart of. I havent had the chance to go yet. I kinda want to go this sunday but I am worried because I've had trouble with meditating myself and I'm afraid of not being accepted and like what do I wear idk I'm trying to get better about not letting my anxiety control me but some days it's easier than others.

This was very insightful. I had purchased the Lotus Sutra long ago, but my mum lost it >:( will definitely check out your book recommendations though. The only Buddhist temples is Sakya Thubten Ling but it is still very far away. Hopefully I can try it out some day though

Welcome! For temples, note that there are quite a few that are offering services online, which might help between the times you can't physically get to a temple.
