He said heartbeat releases in a few days in the interview. Let’s say he meant two days. Which would make this November 3rd which is two days before heartbeats release. And buddy died on Feb 3rd 1959 making this exactly 3 months before his death
@georgepoth8339
@georgepoth8339 4 жыл бұрын
His song “Heartbeat” was released on November 5, 1958. He says in the interview that (starting at 1:48) “The last night of this tour is three nights from tonight in Richmond”. Buddy did two shows in Richmond on October 19, 1958. So the day of the interview was Thursday, October 16, right? And that means that it was exactly 110 days before his death, or 3 months, 2 weeks, and 4 days.

A friend of mine's aunt taught school in Lubbock, Texas. He tells me she said, "Well I taught all those Hollys and they were just the trashiest people!" Funny how people's perceptions can differ. Such a talented, humble, and cool dude. It’s insane how young he died, Eddie Cochran as well. A couple years into their musical career and tragedy struck both. It rattles the mind thinking what they could have written, recorded, produced and done had they lived a much longer, deserved life.

If you get the chance, visit the Buddy Holly Center and his gravesite in Lubbock, Texas. The BH Center is a wonderful museum with lots of artifacts from his life. They have his motorcycle, quite a few of his clothing items, his famous glasses, and some of his personal correspondence with representatives from his record label. Unfortunately, taking photos and video inside the exhibit area is not permitted. His gravesite is also in Lubbock and is worth visiting. He was 22 when he died. As of 2023, he wound be 87. RIP Buddy Holly.

@@darkash900 Right.......... yeah I am sorry mate. So did not actually check his age at the time of his death, instead i just calculated in which he year he was born and in which he died. Now that I think of that too was wrong. Anyways I will be editing this comment so anyone who reads this, give some credit to @darkash900.

For a high school kid, Ronnie King did a nice interview. Today's "journalists" always ask long, rambling questions that funnel the subject into a predetermined angle instead of letting them say whatever comes to mind.

Buddy Holly was the OG of rock and roll in the 50s Elvis was more of a singer and mainstream but Buddy was doing proto punk rock. But at 22 you barely know anything just imagine if Buddy had lived to see the 60s cause I know he was wild anyways, poor guy.

It's funny that he says he doesn't like jazz because he went on to do those very jazzy songs with the orchestra
@ActivateBeastMode1
@ActivateBeastMode1 4 жыл бұрын
This was 3 months before he died, so he didn't go on to do anything musically unfortunately. The orchestra stuff was done at Decca and Buddy didnt like the sound at all of it and left Decca to get more of a rock n roll sound.
@rattyeely
@rattyeely 4 жыл бұрын
@@ActivateBeastMode1 yeah I know he didn't really like it, it's just funny he did it. Also he did do something musically after the orchestra, the Apartment Tapes, which show a return to rock n roll.
