An interesting fact about Buddy that I just learned recently after my latest visit the Buddy Holly Center here in Lubbock. Buddy was planning to start his own recording studio in Lubbock. He had paid $5,500 as a down payment for some property here. It was to be called Prism Records. Business cards had already been made in Clovis, NM. He was going to use some of that property to build his parents a new home. He was also going to start a publishing house called Holly House. Here in Lubbock they are building The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences. It is going to be amazing and should be finished next year! A relatively new addition to the Buddy Holly Center is an original booth from the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa where Buddy, Ritchie, and the Big Bopper played their last concert on February 2, 1959. It's really rather sad to look at it and remember the tragedy that happened later. In regard to learning more about Buddy's life, I would suggest the music videos on KZbin produced by Paul McCartney. They are called The Real Buddy Holly Story. The are excellent!

@@dynjarren7523 Buddy really was a musical genius. He was so creative and innovative. His star was just starting to shine. As someone said, he was like a falling star burning bright, then he was gone. Makes me so sad ever time I think about him dying so young. What could have been. The music that died that day was the music still left in Buddy Holly.

Just watched The Buddy Holly Story again. I'm sure it plays fast and loose with the facts but it's still a great movie with Gary Busey's amazing performance. If he didn't get an Academy Award he certainly deserved it. Buddy's passing mentioning of a crashed helicopter can't help sent chills up the spine in light of his own life cut short. One can only speculate how he might have evolved as a musician as the music radically changed over the decades.

Dale Lowry has something of the manner of Bob Newhart, or vice versa. Holly's pronunciation of ' Not Fade ' Away ' has always surprised me. I've never been able to hear what's being said in the background, over the stage microphone. I wonder if there's a software that can separate it to hear ? I've never heard the whole Pat Barton interview, before. The humour about Mansfield wasn't noticed. I'm glad that I can now remember, too, not just Holly's mistake about rock ' n ' '' Going out quite a bit in the States '', with Robinson, but now, his correct forecast about nobody being able to take Presley's place. Since he knew him quite well, I wondet why he used Presley's surname ?
