Nice! Going to Jay March 11. They are getting snow so I hope this trail is open. Is this marked?
@mybadvideos Жыл бұрын
The stuff off of the ridge walkway I consider unmarked. I imagine there's no way that patrol there would want random people going up there other than to sightsee and come back down. Over the years I've seen a couple situations where patrol has had to talk someone down the Face Chutes. Folks really need to accurately assess their ability level.

Saddles really easy. One turn, then fall and youre good! A buddy and I stepped out on the edge after huge storm and it just gave out. Quick ride down.

You've become a much better skier since I first started watching your vids, which I dig, because you do vids of many of my favorite named trails. Would love to see some of my fav "not on the map" trails. The Church, "Three Little Pigs," Oh Fuck! (Though I *think* Oh Fuck! is no more since Pitch Black was cut.)
@mybadvideos3 жыл бұрын
Is/was OF! the steep gnar woods between Black Magic and upper Red Liftline? Will probably hit the Church next season. Since I deferred my Ikon pass this year, I haven't been to Sugarbush at all.

For an overall mountain positive mountain experience which would you recommend: Stowe or jay? Also which mountain would you say has the hardest and most enjoyable terrain?
@mybadvideos2 жыл бұрын
I enjoy the brief moments I have at Stowe, but overall I dislike the vibe of the mountain and I don't like how Vail has just accelerated the corporatization of the place. I really like the terrain, but I very much dislike the vibe. Generally you'll find me there preseason and post-season skinning up, and using the lifts maybe a couple days a season. Jay Peak I love the terrain I love the vibe, but you're unlikely to find me there in the first half of a season given the cold and wind making the skiing there unpleasantly cold and unreliable access to a large percentage of their terrain unless you're willing to hike up. Honestly I think it would be cool if when the time comes that Jay makes the towers shorter on the Flyer's successor and makes it a gondola. Less exposure to the wind and making wind chill a non issue. I think a bubble on the successor to the Bonnie would be sensible too. Overall I would probably give the edge to Jay. In a good year they have amazing spring skiing, they are more affordable, they get more snow, and they are often open until either the end of April or the beginning of May.

Vibe at Stowe is very “elite-centric” (you gotta pay$$$ to play) and the terrain is not everything the marketing department makes it out to be! There are better options in northern VT.

@@luckmc2874 I hope to hit it this season. It's referred to as "the saddle" and drops in to the left before Pumphouse.

@@mybadvideos Ah, thanks for the info. Going to Jay peak around April 10th and am looking to check out that zone if snow coverage allows. Are there any other lines off the ridge besides saddle and pump house?
@mybadvideos Жыл бұрын
@@luckmc2874 I imagine there are, but the usual routes off the front are 1) Tuckerman's Chute 2) Face Chutes 3) Saddle and 4) Pumphouse from looker's right to looker's left. Keep in mind, all the stuff off the ridge walkway is unofficial - and some lines are more or less doable depending on snow conditions.
@Colbyobrien3782 жыл бұрын
how do you get to the first line the you didn't do?
@mybadvideos2 жыл бұрын
There's a walkway from the top of the tram going left, it isn't always open. Depends on conditions. I'm guessing Patrol checks it daily. Definitely a sightseeing spot for more people vs those who ski the ridge.
