Match grip Big No No

His playing is great, though the match grip does make the snare sound a little heavier on some notes. But it’s not a big enough deal to detract from the music, only a diehard jazz drumming snob would even be able to hear the difference if you couldn’t see it. The only real con to playing this match is the cross sticks are really weak and soft. They sound more like rim clicks or stick clicks than cross sticks because the fat end of the stick isn’t on the rim.
