Taxes and economy are different subject. Taxes should not hamper economic growth. For sake of economic growth, sacrifice of taxes are better than later using taxes resources to patch up economic distress. Economic momentum should continue. Economy is like. Ship in Ocean if its speed momentum is reduced, later it will use more fuel to gain momentum. So at any cost economic momentum should not get hampered.

There were specific indications about weak urban demand. Rural demands were not that bad. BJP provided cheap lpg gas, microirrigation (PMKSY), and rural roads (PMGSY), kissan credit card, mudra loan, and respective state governments provide rewri to the rural people. But they consume basic things and do not contribute much to indirect tax collection, so they carry very little tax burden. If this is not enough, the unorganized sector must wait for the trickle down from the tax paying salaried people. A little money was given away as tax rebates can create a multiplier effect.
