Budget Beast Sticks | Modified API Hunting Sticks

This video compares Dan Infalts Hunting Beast Gear Sticks to a set of modified API Huntin Sticks. The API sticks retail for 99$ for a pack of 3 while a single Beast stick is 80$ for a single stick. i had the xop single steps i hated them had 2 sets of beast sticks but i sold them like a moron gonna get the api sticks and mod them

I had the xop singles and were super heavy. The API’s make a great stick when modded. Hard to beat the beast sticks but the API sticks for the money are almost as a effective.

I will agree. The main place to shave weight is usually on yourself. The thing I look for in any stick is mainly zero moving parts, stacking, step length and then weight

I run some 22" diy APIs. With the artisan outdoors platform on my top stick. I run 3 squirrel steps for a ROS to walk all the way around the tree. I get my feet to 15 ft with a CAYG aider. My whole climbing method and platform/ROS weighs in at 9.2lbs. Good enough for me!

Im going to sit back for a few years and really let the market get flooded with new sticks so i can make the choice on which would be right for me. I like the look of the new tethrd sticks that are sub 1lb. Other than the short step spacing. But at 1lb a piece i might be willing to go with 4. Still be way lighter than my 3 i have

I run full length API and have been debating cutting them down similar to beast sticks with some EWO standoffs just haven’t brought myself to do it yet

I didn’t find a need to update the standoffs. The API standoffs I will admit seem a little crude but I thought the worked great. I know the EWO stand offs are deeper so that might be a reason I suppose. If you are considering I would buy a tube and 2 stand offs from EWO and make a 4th stick with the extra steps from cutting them down. Then you can see what you like better. Those stand offs aren’t cheap.

@@BowhunterChroniclesPodcast oh I know I was looking at em for a long time today deciding if it was worth it or not. But I like that they’re deeper so I can step on my steps properly and not be pigeon toed when I’m hanging my next stick lol

Yeah that may be a legitimate reason to upgrade. Starting with will let you see if it is necessary and by adding the 4th stick you will be able to get higher because if the spacing of the steps

@@BeardedSportsman Yeah I have had those issues especially when its cold and bulky clothing. When saddle hunting I have knee pads on so what I will do is put a knee up on the stick and then pull myself up that way. I’m 6’ 225z

For sure. I think the beast sticks are pretty much the standard. I am looking forward to getting a set of the shorter ones. The 24” ones I had were great but I see the benefit of the slightly shorter sticks.
