So this build actually has 4 rares! Didn't realize that Paladin Class was a Rare. You can easily swap it out for another Aura if you don't have another rare to spare.

The thing that prevents light paws and other powerful commanders hard to budget with is the matchups against it. I believe it's in hell queue and so hard to claw back from once paws gets removed a couple times. The great thing about this deck specifically is that alot of the uncommons and commons are actually good here lol good shit dude 💪

Thanks dude! I sort of see our fox friend here as a win by like turn 5 or lose the game lol. I think some of the hell queue match ups are a bit midrange or longer gameplans so maybe that's another reason why this commander can do ok on a budget.

There's something about the simplicity of voltron that I really like. With all the complexity that exists in magic, it feels unique when opponents can't seem to deal with a single creature wearing pants!

It can be really satisfying to knock an opponent out in one bonk but so hard to setup sometimes. Thankfully Lightpaws knows how to show up with their fancy suit and shoes haha

​@@empty_g Oh speaking of, I finally finished building a mono-white voltron deck for Skrelv in EDH. An unusual choice for voltron, but having a commander that can force your giant suit of armor through blockers is sweet!

@@empty_g yes i have! It's surprisingly resilient and lets you diversify your threats quite well. The mite sub-theme gives you good insulation against edicts. The only time i was set back to zero was after someone boardwiped leaving me with just my indestructible big boi and then cast an edict. It's not the most inventive deck I've ever built, but reasonably powerful and a nice starter to introduce someone to magic for the first time.

I'm definitely interested in budget brawl. Would also be interested in a video demonstrating the matchmaking in historic brawl WRT what commander you choose. Seems like this could be useful information, where you pick a commander that is near the top of the non-hell queue.

I usually just pick commanders based on what I'm inspired to build around or seems fun. I haven't seen too many articles out that provide an in depth dive on what commanders let you queue with which tiers. From experience, this is largely dependent on what the commanders let you do. Snowball value engine, 2 card combos, way to cheat out cards are usually the higher tiers. I might be able to make a video after some more research.

I would recommend tossing in Leather Armor, basically a free +0/+1 and Ward 1.

I had thought about it but tried to limit the amount of non-auras in the deck. I can totally seeing that being a valid addition though!

@@empty_g after I made this comment I tested it a bit and you’re right, it saved Light-Paws for like one turn here and there but it was never the game breaker. Swiftfoot is probably a better include. I was actually surprised at how few evasion-focused Aura there are in mono-white, I main Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief and there are so many ways to make her hexproof in U/G it’s silly.

@@NeonPixels81 Yeah Ivy is a beast! Thanks for the update too after giving Leather Armor a test. Swiftboots is a good option too. I think my favorite white evasion spells are things like Gods Willing or Tef Pro. White has a lot of "creature gains protection from a color" spells.
