I know I did promise on the live video that you can already see the first part of my hiking trip this week BUT I takes a lot time to go through the material I filmed and I am not able to finish the video this week... So I will be showing you instead how I made a mosquito net for myself and I actually used it on the trip and it worked great! EDIT: I love you guys for the support :)

no matter, I enjoyed very much your latest video as I have all the rest! And just a tiny tip, if I may, on an english point: in Canada, where I'm from, and the US and UK sew ia mostly pronounced as so (long o). :)

Maybe a Velcro strip sewed into the triangular part/entrance would make it easier to enter & exit. Also a magnetic strip would do same, lightweight and close behind you :) Keep up the great videos.

Was sending you a message on Etsy to let you know the prints arrived in perfect condition. Thank you. Then wanted to thank you for what you're doing -- your tarp shelter video was the first one that I saw about a year ago and I've been a big fan ever since :) I've made a big change in my lifestyle in the past year and it's been very good for me. Having people like you for inspiration has been really important. Now, you post a video on making a mosquito net to go with a tarp shelter -- that's exactly what I have needed! I was going to go buy a 1 person tent because of mosquitos but I am going to do this first. You are awesome! Thanks again!

Super project. I made my own mosquito netting for my hammock and bought curtain netting from Ikea (Lill). You get 2 pieces of netting, 280x250cm for A$9. Cheap and quite durable. Good for bugs and mosquitos but maybe not midges.

I love your videos! I came across them because I was bored with what I was watching, and found a new channel to subscribe to. As a Texan, I have ZERO knowledge of Estionia. You have been an absolute delight to watch, and a great personality to enjoy. I both work and play outdoors. Hiking is a simple way to relieve stress, and enjoy life. I look forward to your next video.

You can't beat a tarp shelter with it's weight and price! Mine is made of 45micron painters plastic, weights 300g, takes up less than a liter in my backpack and I only paid 3 euros for it! A bug net could be a great addition to it! Aitäh Eesti õde. Peter Ungari :)

hand made, no expensive machinery needed :) I made it asymmetric (lower on the foot end) to save some weight. Laid out flat it's a trapezoid. With three peg loops on each side and two for the spine. Folded 2cm back twice on all four sides, used fiber reinforced tape on the attachement points, sewed the nylon straps on and taped it again. Then tied little elastic cords to six of them (on the sides). I also use a lightweight cord along the spine for extra strength and for hanging net or other stuff. It survived multiple storms and the only bad thing I could say is the noise it makes in windy nights. Other than that it's awesome! here's the sketch: drive.google.com/file/d/0B5bu-ne3mdgqQVk0ek13dUtGNEk/view?usp=sharing

Thank you Maiu. The tutorial was clear and easy to follow, you're a good teacher .. : ) : ) Producing your own gear makes the outdoors, so much more enjoyable because you become more independent of the market place and more assured of your own abilities. I have always respected, and admired the old pioneer long hunters, and voyageurs who could live in the wilderness with nothing more than a few basic hand tools for an indefinite length of time; and who had only their own skills and ingenuity to depend on. Be well and stay safe... Cheers.

The A-frame (pup tent) tarp shelter is about the easiest to add netting inside. Some of the other tarp tent designs can be a bit more difficult to put up netting. This stretchy, elastic netting looks great! I haven't seen it before, but looks like it might be good for making the odd shapes to fit other style tarp tents. I'm going to try it, if I can find it.

I did not like this video... I LOVED IT!!!!.... you are appearing to be more and more comfortable with every video that you post and I like it.... the DIY tarp and bug net setup is ideal for any hiker to save money and stay protected on the trails. truly a great concept and I'm glad you did this video I most certainly did thumbs-up it. if you continue this trend every once in a blue you should auction off or raffle off the items that you custom handmade built. nothing like a tried-and-true hiker in Estonia item. signed by you and stamped by Luna's paw print would make it a "truly priceless item".... love 💘 what u are doing!! keep on keeping on!

Another way, which would give you more room inside, would be to sew (or hook & loop velcro if you wanted them removable) larger triangles of netting to the tarp openings. I think it would weigh less than the tarp + separate netting since you wouldn't need netting on the top, only on the ends.

Duck Landes What about the tarp sides, & needing to account for variable heights of tarp to suite weather. I've used a hammock bivvy with mesh same way as in bid, it works perfect so this design is better all round.

Want to try tarp tenting instead of lugging around a 4lb tent, so I bought a Sea to Summit Nano insect shelter that you set up inside/underneath the tarp as per yours. Your'e pretty cool with the DIY skills... If you come to backpack in Canada or the US, though, you need a finer net cause we have.... noseeum's... and blackflies, they are really tiny and more annoying than mosquitos.

Luna sleeps with me inside the net and she doesn't mind it at all. Comes in easily when I lift up the edge. It also gives me a little bit of ease-of-mind in the nights because now she can't wander away.

Hiker in Estonia yes that must help hugely. My lurcher badger would only have to smell a squirrel or rabbit in the next country and he would be away in a cloud of dust. Knowing my luck I'd probably end up being dragged behind in the mosquito net!
