I like to cut sponges in half because it doubles the life of the sponge. It can be odd to get used to, but it it feels less wasteful to me.

You got a lot of great stuff! I really think you should keep all of those dishes that you got from Habitat for Humanity though because you have to take into consideration that sometimes dishes might get dropped or accidentally crack and you want to have extras so in case anything happens you don't have to go out and buy replacements. Not to mention the more dishes you have the more clean dishes you'll be able to use before you have to wash again. And you might have company

Little tip- try getting a couple dish cloths instead of sponges, they will last much longer since you can wash them (saving you money), and they will be cleaner, and there would be less waste from throwing away old sponges :) Also, your new dish set is so cute

Sponges are germ breeding grounds ;_; I used to use them when I was younger when I moved into my first place but you should replace them after a week no longer if they are being used. I tried cleaning them by putting them in the dish washer like some Pinterest post said and it just disintegrated from the hot water and being tossed around lmao....

So happy to hear things are getting sorted out in your apartment! For your sink, I would recommend getting a little drain basket to catch all of the food debris. I agree to keep all the dishes. There are many uses for the saucers such as plant saucers, key and misc. items, etc. The dish at is to protect your dishes from breaking. You cold also use a foldable dish rack to dry the dishes. I use a small over the door towel rack for my dish towels and a magnetic hook strip on my fridge for my pot holders. There are dining chair covers with elastic at Bed,Bath amdBeyound you could get for your chairs. They may be pricy for now., but you cold get colored duck tape to match the chairs to repair them for now from a craft store. Family dollar and Walmart have utensil sets that come wth the drawer try for about $5 which may be cheaper in the long run. By the way, it seems that there is good lighting in your kitchen/dining area and looks cheery. Enjoy you independence!
