It does not have to always be made from scratch. I get so tired of cooking at times. Cooking burn out is real. Tonight I took some dollar tree garlic toast put 4 pepperoni on each piece sprinkled with mozzarella and bake took less than 20 minutes total cost me less than 5 bucks everyone is fed and happy

I look for discount french bread and make pizza We make what we call "Garbage Pizza".Lol! Once a week I get everything out of the fridge that Could be in anyway misconstrued as a pizza topping I use what I have-literally.Tortillas,french bread,etc Then, we make pizza It turns out just fine! It's worth a try

I save all my rotisserie chicken carcasses, put them in the freezer and make broth or soup too! I usually wait till I have a few. But, anyone that throws those away, doesn't know what they are missing!

Funny you mention Catalina dressing goes great with Taco Salad. Growing up one of my favorite snacks was pouring Catalina dressing on those frozen Tina’s bean and beef burritos. So good!

These are all great ideas. They can also be adjusted for diabetics. Such as swapping the bun for a whole wheat bun, whole wheat or multigrain bread or whole wheat tortilla. I can't afford that carb smart bread, they can keep it - it's too expensive! 😆

My besty used to ask the deli if they have any meat or cheese ends. Pieces to small to go thru the slicer but perfect to chop up for salads. Usually they had two-four different meats or chesses theyd package together for her and gave her a great price.

There are only two of us I'll ask for a dinner cut of ham,etc I only get two slices, usually I dice it up and add to something It's often cheaper than a whole package of some kind of meat I spend a ridiculous amount of time figuring these things out I'm human , sometime I fail In those times I feel like it balances out

I eat salad every day at least one meal! I will throw about anything together & call it salad!!lol Brooke- the Catalina dressing -- I do still but it sometimes ( now I'm wanting it after this vid) my Aunt would always always have this dressing when I was little & she bought the old Movie Star magazines ( way back in the 60's ) so I would read about the movie stars & eat iceberg lettuce with Catalina dressing!! I always try to have chicken Pattie’s/tenders or nuggets in my freezer along with frozen French fries and tater tots and frozen pizza for easy meals when things just don’t go right during the day. I usually keep taco meat in the freezer too and it makes a quick meal. We can’t get out of a fast food restaurant for less than $50 most of the time and it is ridiculous in my opinion. My husband and I have a favorite restaurant we like to go to after he has a doctors appointment up in Chandler(we live in AZ for now) and after eating we go to the discount grocery store for our monthly trip. We went last week and it was $35!! For our meal!! When we first discovered this restaurant we could eat for a little under $20 and we didn’t want to eat anything the rest of the day. But it is our once a month date day, so I guess it is worth it.

Bob Evans potatoes taste better than I can make them. Lol I love them! When it comes to stretching ground beef or chicken in a Mexican dish, I always add instant rice when I add the seasoning it. Extra water, extra seasoning and it tastes great!

OMGosh that salad looks so yuumy!!! I am going to the store tomorrow and buy everything for it!!! I am so happy I found you!! I have made up all of your self stable meal idea except the Chicken Pot Pie (because we do not have those packets at our stores) and have them in a big bin with a can opener and a case of water sitting on top...peace of mind is worth so much!!! One of our grocery stores had Hamburger Helper/Tuna Helper/Chicken Helper on sale today only for 99 cents limit 4 for we all went in and got 4 so we have several shelf stable meals in addition...I just like to have those in the pantry for like you said "lazy meals"!!! HA They also had eggs 99 cents limit 1 so all of us went and got 4 of those also...and may go back this evening and get more!!! I love it when I find a good deal!!! Thank you so much Brooke!!!

If you pressure can pints of hamburger then you have an entire meal on a shelf. It's about a pound per pint jar. You can raw pack and can or brown the meat first and hot pack and can.

I ❤️lazy dinners! When I have to work late and it’s 100 degrees outside. Fast a food in So Cal for 5 adult eaters costs us around $75-$95! We use 1000 island on our taco salads and I might add some boiled eggs to the other salad to pump up and he protein.Can’t wait to try the ALDI chicken! Thanks for the ideas!

Made the huge mistake of going to Taco Bell on account of my husband's instructions to get "the 12 pack of tacos." Okay well I think it's actually called a Party Pack? It was about $20. :( We won't be doing that much anymore. That's over a dollar a taco. We can make as many at home, if not more, for half that price, and less if the ingredients are on markdown/sale.

Catalina dressing is bomb on taco salad we use the trip color spiral noodle drained well add all topping and dressing mix and either crunch Doritos in it on put on top of Doritos (cool ranch works well too)

I can hamburger meat. It's great to can if you find on sale but have limited freezer space. It also lasts 2-3 years (maybe a little more). Cooking tomorrow's dinners at today's prices! Try this hamburger soup: One jar (or lb) of hamburger meat, two cans of mixed vegetables, a jar of spaghetti sauce and two cups of broth or water. Makes a ton of soup for very little money and you can even throw in some macaroni to stretch it further!

I think Bob Evans makes good products. The mashed potatoes are delicious as are the sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese. With the rotisserie chicken and veggies, it's a fast and delicious and also nutritious meal for a family. Much better than any fast food!

@@SouthernFrugalMomma The sweet potatoes are also mashed, not whole sweet potatoes. After I heat them, I add a little butter, a pinch of cinnamon and drizzle just a little honey over them! But, that's just how I like them! They're just as good with a little butter! I've also seen Bob Evans stuffing, but I think that's usually around Thanksgiving.

The copy cat Chick-fil-a sauce recipe is -5T mayo, 1/4 cup Dijon mustard, 3T BBQ sauce, 3T honey! I love that sauce and have bought it a couple times!
