I picked up one of these last month , I think its a great tent . We squeezed in three of and my two Beagles . The first outing we did get fair amount of condensation due to the combination of the heat source and three people in a single walled tent . I came up with a simple solution , I took two 5`` long 1/4 `` wood dowels , cut a groove at each end . Then I untied the top two zippers and used the dowels to space out the two doors . This provided enough ventilation to cut the condensation down dramatically . I also made two small pockets ( to hold glasses and small flashlight ) which I stuck on the walls with double sided velcro . Keep up the fun videos they are greatto watch .

@Shawn Blackwood so glad you enjoy the videos. I used a piece of firewood to do the same with the doors. Having a dowel for it is a good idea! Adding pockets is brilliant and I can’t believe I didn’t notice the tent didn’t have any lol. Thanks for watching

Im 5'11. I have a few tents, one being a teepee tent that I converted to a hot tent, it stands 7 ft tall, its 11.7 ft by 11.7 feet wide, Its massive , a nice size room, has a y pole system so there is no center poles, A great open space to live in and be able to do things like hangout. making it a suitable shelter living space as big as a room. More like a affordable Yert. BUT..i looked for a tent that was large similarly and uses a ridgeline system. For backpacking. Or easy car camping because the tent comes down small...and had to have the tent stove jack. Not just for heating but for cooking in the tent. I camp and live in a area where it rains a lot, so the ability to have a fireplace inside the tent, when it rains all day and night, to prepare meals, is a feature I looked at for a long time, to be inside the tent for a long time, large enough to make it comfortable habitat to stay inside for a long period of time. It is about 6.5 feet wide so I am able to place my cot that width, i have a large camp chair and a tripod seat as an ottoman, I have 2 tv tables, for both cooking prep and my laptop computer. My wood burning tent stove which to cook and keep warm. I lay a tarp on the ground and then a carpet rug, because when i have my fire going, its toasty and live in my underwear, walking around barefoot. Its about 6'5 hieght off a ridgeline that I use ratchet straps for a solid ridge, hanging LED decorative string lights on that are solar powered. I have a 100watt solar panel, power converter system to a 12v 1000ah battery , having a 12v electrical system like a rv camper..in my tent. the tent is about 10 feet long. Its a parking garage. So when im set up, I can stay for extended periods of time , not going out of the tent. The rain factor was a concern because I have electronics, music, movies and internet, I could have made any tent into a hot tent, buying a jack and sewing it in,. My stove? its not the fancy ones you find, It was 100 bucks, the cheapest one on Amazon..but ive had it a few years and use regularly because it works. I found a good solution for stoking, this goes for ANY tent wood stove, at Rural King they sell these bags of 12 hard pressed OSB blocks that are treated with some mind of tree oil, you start your fire like normal in your tent stove, then throw a block of the rural king in, that one block will burn for hours, you wont have to stoke the fire as much, getting a stove fan, you can keep your tent at 70F when its only 20 f . This tent is an extended tube tent, not really much to set up, if the wind blows its like a balloon, not perfect like the photos, but it does the job. At 6'5 wide. 6'5 tall and 10 ft long and you can actually have a hammock for a recliner chair, roll it up then sleep in a good sized cot. I use a hammock as my chair. Ive learned how to make it a comfortable environment , sure beats sleeping in a bivvy, I can stand up and walk around some, stand and use a jug to bathroom, can gab allday on my computer, can cook three meals a day, staying perfectly dry from rain, so it suits my survival needs.

One concern I had with this tent just from looking at it, the stove jack location seemed a bit close to the walls / corners, like it could burn a hole with a big gust of wind. Yours has more height, but that may primarily be a function of the snow skirts, I will be adding some on to mine most likely. My video should be up on the 10th. I'll actually be trying to do both a normal and a silent /asmr version

@Handful of Tranquility I had the same concern but this stove throws heat from all sides and I kept checking the side of the tent for too hot and it seemed fine to me. There would be very little play for the walls to blow with the wind, if properly guyed out in my opinion but time will tell lol. Can’t wait to see yours. Thanks for watching

Ive set mine up a few times, its a good tent size. However there is a problem, I went out to set up today and we had huge wind gusts. The main reason of setting up today was to test using hammock tree straps and a ratchet strap ridgeline for a more solid line for the tent itself. My main goal today. which it was perfect...however, the wind blew the tent like a parachute. Most lilkely wont have wind gusts like this in other areas, we dont usually have wind like this. I used two treking poles as front poles to sturdy up the door where my stove will be. I did have out my wood tent stove, which i burned off oxidation from sitting all winter outside, which because of how violent the wind was, i didnt do this in the tent. So as a precautionary, i wouldnt have a fire going in your tent stove if the wind picks up strong. Again, it was 70mph wind gusts which are really rare here. I learned the limitations of this tent however.

@Liam Alepta I’m surprised you were able to set it up at all lol. The last time I had my wall tent setup it got windy while we were taking it down. Parachute is a perfect word lol. I had to have Jay hold it while I was unhooking all the poles and stakes. Wind can suck sometimes. I haven’t had this one up in heavy wind yet. Thanks for sharing your story and thanks for watching

@@AdventureswithSpackmann I set out to test a ridgeline idea, using hammock tree straps and ratchet straps. Which the wind actually assisted my experiment. I did manage to get the tent entirely set up. it held up good, it blew up the ground stakes and looked like a blanket on a clothes line in a major wind gush however, It survived unscathed , No tears, no pulled out guy leads, no stake leads torn out. Just because of the high wind, this test was a success. The ridgeline of using a ratchet strap is an outstanding solid stable support for your tent or a leaning tarp shelter. Ive used rope and paracord, they all stretch, not very stiff to make a straight ridgeline, they sag over time, the ratchet strap didnt do that, So i have field test proof that a ratchet strap ridgeline is the best survival tool you can get for securing your emergency shelter. it was hilarious to see the tent like a huge parasail LOL The stakes pulled right out of the ground and went flying, , i have many of those large nail stakes in my camp gear box, i suggest those instead of the cheap aluminum the tent comes with. I literally have to use a claw hammer to pull the nail type tent stakes up, it would of stood fine with those in a 70mph wind tantrum.

@HilbilyRedneksOpinion I believe so. I stuff everyone one of my pieces of gear. Except sleeping pads. I’ve heard that stuff is better because there won’t be the same folds in the same place every time creating a weak spot in the fabric. That’s what I’ve heard and haven’t had an issue caused by stuffing before. Not sure there is a right way but stuffing has worked for me.

@George Scofield so glad you enjoy the videos! I usually don’t use a floor. I have a few videos on lightweight teepee tents that come with half inner, and the inner tents have floors. If you're using this with a hammock what are the options for a second person to sleep in there space wise? I know you mentioned two cots, but a hammock would go down the center so I don't know what that would allow for.

I've read that melt problem with several tents. I've been trying to find a hot tent for months, and your presentation might just have made up my mind. I'm concerned about it not being large enough to have two little and one huge dog in it with me. I would like for them to not bump into the stove and hurt themselves. So it's either this one or a Luxe one. I'm thinking about getting a huge tent just out of concern for the dogs. Luxe has a couple of "8 person" tents. But then, there's this one. And this is one brand that I see recommended quite a bit.
@AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann Жыл бұрын
@Anastasia E. Luxe Hiking Gear is a distributor of Luxe for the US. They were terminated by Luxe cause they have been taking orders for a year and not sending products. I do NOT recommend ordering from Luxe Hiking Gear. If you can get it from Luxe directly that’s different. This melting was my fault in my opinion but can happen to anyone. It maybe a little small for 4 occupants. Thanks for watching

Just wondering, how would you augment/reinforce the tent if you were to get a major dump of snow?
@AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann Жыл бұрын
@Rich Taber best practice is to clean the tent off as often as you can. It’s not really meant to hold a ton of snow. The walls are pretty steep and with heat running in the tent I’m not sure how much would accumulate. That being said I have no experience with this tent in major snow falls. I got about an inch overnight and it melted as soon as it hit the tent. To reenforce it I would: Run a full ridgeline Have poles on either end and possibly in the middle inside of the tent Best way to stay safe would be to set an alarm for every hour or so and clean it off if you’re expecting a lot of snow.
