I love unistrut!lol made my rack more or less the same, I used the solid strut(no holes) for the 2 parallel lengths and drilled my own fixings to suit, plus used capping on top to stop any standing water👍🏼 Genuinely though, I am a little concerned you only used 3 m6 rivnuts to fix on each side. Rivnuts are a strong fixing but for this application..you have to think if wind gets under your panels whilst driving creating a “sail effect” the surface area those 3 or 6 nuts have with force constantly pulling up and shaking is really minimal. The roof steel is only 1-1.5mm thick at most and the rivnut contact/pinch area is like a mostly sucked polo!haha …couldn’t think of a better description 😂 If you still have access I’d strongly advise you to use bolts straight through the strut holes and a penny washer inside to spread the load. You can still alter the layout anytime but the main rails will always be permanent regardless. Sorry for the long comment. It’s not a knock at your work mate , purely a safety thing 👍🏼

@@ourworldonwheels hi. Thanks so much for the advice. This is why I love getting the comments from everyone. So don't worry about sending me free advice 😉. I've actually got 6 nuts down each side. I guess the video made it look like 3. But I hear what you're saying. I could drill a few more and use the other type of rivnut. I forget the name but the spread out much more than the basic rivnut. I'm obviously just copying what I've seen other on KZbin do. The University of KZbin 🤣

I think you are absolutely doing the right thing. I had a TIA earlier this year which I'm slowly recovering from but it taught be a valuable lesson. You only have ONE life. Its not a practice. Its real and you only have ONE go at it. My mini stroke taught me that siezing your life and making it what you want it to be is the right way to go. I thought when I had the stroke-specially waiting in A&E that I was going to die and its a sobering thought. Now I'm on the mend I have decided to sell the house early next year when I know I'll be ok, and sell Viv and buy a van ready converted because I originally paid a con man good money to convert Viv and found out he was rubbish. So I had a warp spasm, ripped the whole lot out and then spent 12 months redoing viv- and the effort and stress triggered my stroke. I think you're amazing. I think the kids are amazing and Ive loved- and commented on every video. I honestly believe- controversial comment- that this country is finished and I cant wait to get the hell out of it. So, take that leap of faith and give your family that life they deserve. I'm sure your wife-and their mum, will be looking down from above cheering you guys on! ONE LIFE- LIVE IT. Absolute respect🙏- Kenny. PS- the roof rack is looking awesome

I fully agree with what you said on your little walk about mate, I did try to email you however I cant find your email address. For what its worth I dont think you are the only one, I am giving my house up very soon and plan to rough it in a van on my own until I have the funds in place to go off traveling. I am self employed and I dont get on with society (never have) and how the world is going I want no part of it, there is a whole planet out there waiting to be explored once you get off the hamster wheel of "norms!". regarding adverts, the best thing you can do is to get a front loaded 10 second preview of the rest of the video content, then hit the video intro, and then place a mid roll at a natural break kind of like "so we will see you in the morning" MID ROLL AD "welcome back and today....." Good luck with it all Im routing for you guys! and hope to follow suit in the near future.

Love what you are doing. I will be starting my van build in January 2025, with the intention of touring part of Europe with my wife next September and we will be bringing our 3yr old grandson on daytrips and weekends away in Ireland.I am really looking forward to that. I am currently growing my stock of tools and accessories so that I do not cut into my budget for the van conversion when I start. I cannot currently decide between a Sprinter or a Transit (both hf and lwb) and I am researching both. However I cannot get accurate dimensions on the intetnet for the proposed living space (bulkhead to back door) and width I keep getting conflicting information. Also I know it is personal preference but I have calculated (roughly) that a 300ah leisure battery set up would be more than sufficient, however 3 x 100ah batteries or 1 x 300, I like the redundancy aspect of multiple batteries in case of battery failure but then again 1 battery is appealing too, as lithium ion are really reliable regardless. Anyway, you are doing Great, with the kids, with the van and with the your future planning.

You're a brave man, quit your job and go see the world together with your children. I think you're right, we are not build to work every day just to fit in society, we're just made to believe that is the right way. But having all kinds of (financial) obligations is not making it a easy choice, you have to be brave for that, and I'm certainly not brave enough. I have had some difficult times in the past financially, so now having a decent income it isn't easy to give it up, I made the choice to enjoy as much as I can with the time and money I have. Also not being in the best of health I enjoy these moments the best I can, and having a stable income and a place which I call home gives me the comfort to treasure the time off and the trips I can make.
