government has more than 1lk crore redemption due on sgb this year. government saves 9000cr on these redemptions from sovereign gold bond by cutting duty by 9%. As a sgb investor this is absolutely pathetic from the government.

Govt while issuing SG bonds increases customs duty and collects higher sale value, where as before redeeming gold it reduces customs duty and pays less to the seller. This as per my understanding is clearly unethical and illegal and should be challenged in the court. Request Indi alliance to raise this issue on behalf of investors

Government can anyday increase Duty on Gold.. And this they will do after Diwali.. Also, since India is not Producer of Gold, or Silver, lot of money outflow will happen, depreciating USDINR, in turn bringing a bigger upside as a result.. Expecting 88-90 USDINR by Feb/March 2025
