Budget Modern Deck Tech - Modern Elves ($57)

I watched this video for help on my modern elves deck. It is currently my favorite deck to play with. A card that makes this deck broken is parodox engine, anytime a spell is played untap all non land permanents. It allows me to play any cards left in my hand and kick a warcaller a whole bunch of times. Elves are the best!!

Love me some elves. I have had some legendary battles with my elf deck against my best friends damned speed goblin deck. We usually went 50-50. If the elfs stuck around past turn 5 they usually always won. Great memories. I still have my deck around here somewhere.

Any sort of Elf deck is a great entry into the modern format. The deck is fun to play, deceptively tricky, and can be competitive. Even the full version isn't very expensive, as long as you're not including Cavern of Souls or Horizon Canopy. I've personally gone 5-0 at a tournament with Coco Elves, and have a overall win % in the 60-70 range.

The big problem with Elves is constantly living in fear of Damnation, Wrath, Verdict, Anger, Electrolize, etc.

Another good Elf is Copperhorn Scout, it allows you to untap all of your Elves every time she attacks

Play mtg arena or mtgo, as long as you don't play ranked, you can really enjoy it. Ranked is trash in my opinion and I don't have the money to play it anymore anyway.

I am still dipping into modern little by little and I have manny of the pieces for the Elemental aggro but I also do have some parts of green stompy so that is what i would enjoy seeing next :D

I really enjoy your videos and it's awesome to see you play with these decks later on. I'm wanting to get my feet wet in Modern. Start out with something that will be fun on Friday nights but can be upgraded to competitive. Which of these budget decks in your opinion lends it's self to that. I like elves and soul sister but I'm not sure those are the best for what I'm trying

Descendant's Path might be able to find a slot in this deck. Bramblewood Paragon also seems like a good fit because of all the warriors.

tron cant be budget in modern, you need ugins, karns, wurmcoils and so on, its pretty expensive

I built this deck and it was really good even without upgrades but with them you can almost go infinite. My current list: (about $120) 4 heritage Druid 4 nettle sentinel 15 forest 2 lead the stampede ( I like 2 for extra draw compared to a full playset of collected company) 2 collected company 1 Nissa Revane (you don't need essence warden in the sideboard anymore and if you can: get 2 Nissa so you can draw into her) 2 sylvan messenger 2 Ezuri, renegade leader 4 elvish archdruid 4 arbor elf 4 Llannowar elves 4 elvish mystic 4 dwynen's elite 4 elvish visionary 4 joraga Warcaller Sideboard: 3 Gaea's herald 2 sylvan messenger 4 wrap in vigor 2 tormod's crypt 4 reclamation sage I'm going to get some Llanowar wastes and shaman of the pack as well. And with Nissa's Ultimate: you can get shaman of the pack as well as all your other in cons lol

Also Asceticism is a good card too. It's a little high on the curve but it's fun to play with and a pain to deal with for your opponents haha.

Giant Monster Games I actually brought it to FNM 2 days ago and it was a lot of fun. I ended most of my matches with around 70 life. I went 2 wins 1 loss. I'm looking forward to getting more upgrades for it!

Should actually play 4 wrap in vigors which gives all your creature regenerate for 3 manna. This doesnt protect against dmanation, but prtects against all else.

Thoughts on a single copy of Primal Surge to potentially dump everything from the top of your deck until you hit Lead the Stampede?

It could be funny, but it feels like a "win more" card in this deck. If you did want to run Primal Surge it would replace Lys Alana Huntmaster. Give it a try and let me know how it works.

I've got a copy in a casual legacy elf deck that I've managed to cast it on turn 3 in using Elvish Guidance and Arbor Elves (miracle hand with multiple Arbor Elves). A single Primal Surge is the only non-permanent in the deck, so if it resolves, you can literally put your entire deck on the battlefield, I always leave about 10 cards behind in case of instant speed targeted draw though. I'm just not sure if it's worth it in Modern where it won't have access to Elvish Guidance or Concordant Crossroads for it to be lethal the turn you cast it instead of the turn after. Like you said, I'll have to test it out in Modern.

hummmm I don think so. There hasn't been much int he way of elves in the last number of sets. I think the sideboard could be upgraded to better deal with the current Meta

Ashley Shorts if you want to splash white selfless spirit can save your elves from a board wipe and you can chord or Coco into it. Most that splash white just use razorverge thicket and temple garden to make the white. You might cast it once in a while but you will most likely tutor or Coco for it

Question for y'all I have this deck built. I recently got 4 collected company, 4 shaman of the pack, 1 cavern of Souls, and 2 nykthos. What should I take out to put these in? Also would like to put champion of elves and nyleas presence in there what should I do any advise would help.

Collected company is an upgrade to Lead the Stampede, so take them out. Shaman can replace the Lys alana and some of the Sylvan Messengers. I don't think you need the Nyleas Presence. It is too slow for this deck. as for champion of elves I think All the other Lords in the deck are just better. I would also recommend getting 4 nettle sentinel and 4x heritage druid.

for now I would not put in nyleas or champion, if you are playing at an FNM you will find that both these cards are too slow in the elves deck. That's what makes nettle sentinel and heritage druid so powerful is there abilities can be used the turn they come into play.

Alright for the upgrades section here is my secret tech: Westvale Abbey. With all the mana you can make why not transform them into a huge flyer however, DO NOT EVER DO THIS IF YOU ARE PLAYING AGAINST A WHITE DECK path to exile will kill you if you put abby in there

Kill the Elvish archdrueds and any other lord he plays. If you are sideboarding you need to put in more removal. Target the creatures that let him win.

I try to reply to most of the comments. I enjoy interacting with people. For me personalty budget is not a big problem but I generally try to make the decks budget so new players or players that don't have much to spend can get into the game and play a reasonably competitive deck. Otherwise yah fauna shaman is awesome.
