Having previously forked out the cash to build a lightened, balanced, ported, studded keg, I can very much appreciate how good it is to be lucky lol

This series will be awesome inspiration for my own build. Mines not quite as intense but still fitting an engine that was never supposed to fit where it’s going. The CAD and custom parts are on another level to me tho. So nice to watch someone who knows what they’re doing. It seems like you worked out how to do everything before making your video series - which I’m sure everyone appreciates.

If you somehow want to significantly port your 13B someday I highly suggest you’d go for semi-peripheral porting rather than bridge porting. The “bridge” in a bridge port isn’t meant for long term use considering the rotor edge only has that narrow piece of metal to travel along. Other than that, you have a studded block and lightened rotors. Wow. Can’t wait to see the rest of the project manifesting.

probably REC in Canada did the studs with their CNC service. They also provide CNC intake porting as well. Given how nice the porting is it may have been their work.

That’s interesting. The motor came from a JDM swap retailer in Canada. I’ll have to look into that further. Thanks.

I watched a lot of wankel horror stories at the drag strip in the early 2000s. I actually never gave them much consideration until I got sucked into Rob Dahms videos.

Those studs are going to be essential with your front engine mount. I was going to post on your last vid that there is a reason the REW has rear engine mounts. They reduce the torsional stress on the engine. These studs will go some way to compensate for the backwards mounting.

ngl seeing everything from a rotary laid out on a small table has me thinking an FC RX-7 may be in the cards for me as a project car one day. they seem incredibly simple compared to a piston engine, and as a Subie owner i already have an affinity for high maintenance motors 😹😹

Its not a crack. It's the partial outline of the passage from the rotor housing. The shapes of each casting dont perfectly align. It's just more pronounced on that side compared to the other.

@AdamBath8 ай бұрын
Not sure those are REW rotors, should have machined surfaces in the pockets on each face if I remember right from the REW rotors I ran in a Turbo II build years back.
@AdamBath8 ай бұрын
Yeah, just confirmed that with a quick Google search. Guess it would make sense if they were doing a low compression high boost build.
@CouchBuilt8 ай бұрын
Interesting. I’ll have to look into it. I wouldn’t mind a little higher compression as it’s not the early 90s anymore and tuning is a bit more precise. Lower compression and more boost would be just as good.
@CouchBuilt8 ай бұрын
After researching, these appear to be 87-88 turbo rotors, so 8.5:1 vs 9:1 of the REW parts.
@jmirsp4z8 күн бұрын
looks like they could be done by REC
@CouchBuilt8 күн бұрын
That seems pretty likely as the motor was shipped from Canada. Someone else dropped REC's name a few months ago and I reached to see if I could get any history on the motor. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough info for them to connect the dots as it's a pretty standard higher HP spec setup.

Small recommendation to take your editing to the next level: try to remove the instances of lip-smacking, tongue clicks, and other mouth noises from your voice tracks as much as possible. Since they have a tendency to immediately follow a period of silence right as you start speaking again, they're a very sharp, distracting noise that many viewers will find off-putting. That fact that your audio quality is generally very good makes it even worse. I believe that most modern video editing suites have filter either built-in or available as a third-party addon that can automatically remove these, but you can also manually remove (or at least, muffle) them by zooming into your audio track and searching for instances of peaks immediately following a period of silence.
@CouchBuilt6 ай бұрын
100% agree. Figuring out this editing stuff as I go. Most of my audio efforts have been clipping out excessive uhhh ummm moments. 😅
