Asking for some prayers from this community. My sister lost her oldest son this weekend. He had pneumonia and his heart gave out. He left behind two daughters, 16&20. They lost their mother a few years ago and now their father. My sister is beside herself and can use some prayers! ❤

I have a 104yr old house decorated in a Victorian style, so I'm all about the vintage and moody! I love those gift boxes too, and painted mine to look like wood, and I added old vintage tarnished brass drawer handles and knobs to the fronts. I was picturing yours with little brass drawer pulls. The shelves are beautiful for the summer! ❤

I love that idea to do plants on your dining table. You also chose the two (Rosemary and Mint) that tend to keep the ticks and other bugs away (good for your fur babies) 🙂 I will say be careful with the mint. It is very invasive. I decided to grow it one year and one of the neighborhood squirrels decided it needed to be in EVERY pot. I had mint growing in every pot that year and had mint coming back for about 5 years 😂 Edited to add - I would add the leather pulls to the boxes. This would tie in the darker tones of the living room.

Omgsh how funny about the mint!! The rosemary has one bunch that isn’t doing well, but I’m wondering if it’s sick? The rest are doing great & I love the life it gives to the dining room (not to mention function!) and yess! I’m thinking I’ll add the leather pulls to those boxes 😍

We live in NW Phoenix. I hibernate in summer and count down the days until October when the weather is reasonable again. Winter is really the only time a person can comfortably go outdoors here! I can't wait until we can afford a house up in the mountains and enjoy summers again.

I love your idea for a living centerpiece! I think those leather pulls would look great on those boxes. But if you wanted to do something like a button-style pull, it could be a nice chance to add some gold tone. So much of your thrifted stuff is like that. DAE recognize what that long, low metal box is for? I saw it immediately. I want to say it's not as obvious as it once was, but I can't say why or I'll give it away. I simply love the summer decor. I especially love how the boxes turn out. I like the idea of the brown straps you showed. Definitely put them in the boxes. If you want to attach them I would use a brass screw or you could use a small knob. I think the knobs could add texture you are looking for. I like all the thrift things you used. It would be great to see how and why you chose the final subscriber's homeas your 1st rescue as well as each of your picks in the series. I love the moody vibe and decor. I like the mix of lighter and moodier touches. I find it to be more of my style. I'm not one that will decorate for spring nor summer, but like you its the time of year to reset my home from some darker, heavy textures. I also minimize my decor in the warmer months. Less to dust(clean) and after Christmas time where more is more, I need a cleaner slate. The boxes turned out beautiful. What a great DIY that looks luxe with little paint. Hi Amanda, I just watched your video but had something to do, so Im a bit late to comment. I love summertime even thoe we we're busy with my son sports it just is such a relaxing pace. A time when my son and I just seemed more relaxed and easy-going. I liked your idea about planting the herbs you use in the house. Such an easy-to-use idea. I really like your lamp you put in the dinningroom. I did the same with a cute little. Lamp to highlight a picture in a dark corner. I like your new summer items. I have some of thoes those boxes also. Inface I use them a lot to keep different items in. Infact a craft store here called Michael's they have the boxs on sale for $4.99. I love the moody, calm and cool summer decor… it’s beautiful. I don’t think the cactus on the top shelf goes with it though, just me ! I think the lamp you put in the dining room is gorgeous. All of this new style decor really changes the look and feel of your home completely. I did some boxes like yours but I chose some wrapping paper that I loved and covered the lids with spray glue and wrapping paper. 😊

I adore that moody feel you achieved, but honestly absolutely any way or vibe you style in looks amazing and really motivates me to get into my shelves, clean, style and redecorate. The lamp in the dining room adds a TON of great ambiance and changes the whole feel in there. I absolutely love it. One thing I would suggest. You mentioned that your dining room window isn't centered and I was (sort of) bothered by it also. So I started thinking about a solution that doesn't involve tearing out windows. lol...My thought on that would be to extend the right side of the curtain rod and curtain length all the way over to the far end of the window frame making it look like there's more window behind it, and tricking the eye. It will also inject more light into the room as you won't be covering the window at all with the curtain until you decide to close the curtains. I hope that makes sense. Just my two cents

Since you're leaving the plants inside be careful, both mint and chives (if you add them later) can be toxic to cats if they eat them. I know I can't have live plants inside without my cats nibbling on them. For the handles on the boxes you could use a brad to make it look like it had the screw/rivet and add some metallic texture! Hammer them really flat on the back and still glue it if you don't want to damage the boxes more.
