Right on! To anyone watching this video thinking about building a car. He is spot on 100% correct. Go out there and have fun #1. I race at Sycamore when I get time off which isnt often. I've also raced a couple Enduros at LaSalle Speedway. Tried to race at Rockford last fall but I was 15 minutes past the pre race cutoff. Take Care and remember safety #1 Have Fun #2 Meet new people in the pits #3 and maybe try for a trophy #4.

Thanks man! Come say hello if you ever see me out there! I dont race at Sycamore anymore, last time I was there someone drove me down the whole back straight right in to the wall on purpose. So that was enough for me. lol.

Even with the 1 inch lugs and studs purchased from Speedway Motors, my cavalier I built a few years ago and raced at Madison International Speedway on the Ring of Fire, with the stock steel wheels, the center of my RF blew out completely during a feature race. Bassett racing wheels are definitely better if the rules allow them. I also bought my cage kit from Lefthander chassis.
@thatracinglife2 ай бұрын
@Kartracer95 those Cavalier wheels are notorious for doing that. The 1 inch lugs also have the wrong taper for the stock GM wheels. So if you use those, it's almost 100% it's going to break them. Use stock lugs on stock wheels or run Bassetts with the proper tapered racing lugs. That's EXACTLY why that 1 inch lug nut rule is STUPID and wrong.

400$ for that enduro half cage Integra isn't a bad price at all! We race 4cylinders too! We race against Dodge Neons, Chevy Cobalts, Chevy Cavaliers, Ford Escorts, Pontiac Sunfires and Integras too! My family drives Chevy Cavaliers at the race track. I Upload videos of my races on youtube. I am the #81jr [Michael]. I upload videos of my entire team from the GoPros we have mounted on each car. I've seen way worse too! I've always studied safety and have learned how to properly build a car after 15 year of being in racing. This car is the least safe of any I race too. Next build I will make my own custom cage. Should be quite a bit better! New build series coming soon!

I have been told to take my enduro car up to Jefferson for the enduro, but it's a car that's cost me maybe 300 and I've had it for almost 2 years now, and it runs perfectly fine, but it's not got a cage, it's got a bar across the car behind the seat to keep it from going smush, but that's it. I learned how to drive stick in it, in the goblin at Rockford that had 213 cars in it, so back in 2016.
@thatracinglife7 жыл бұрын
Nice! ISS races clean. Not like the Goblin. lol. You will need at least a plate over the drivers door to pass tech if you don't do a cage. But I highly recommend doing a cage. You don't need a fast car to do well, just survive to the end!
@benjimotorsports6 жыл бұрын
The car I have has one dent in it, otherwise it's still dent free. It's a matter of driving style for me. But I already have a racecar which has a cage in it. so it's not exactly cheap to do that to another car.

chris wright I've raced over 170mph in 3h+ endurance races for years and never had an issue. Every time I've seen that type of failure it's been because the wheels themselves cracked from being used for years. The stock type steel wheels don't handle that abuse for very long. Always inspect the areas around where the lug nuts go on the wheels, Front and back for cracks.
@chriswright1146 жыл бұрын
Sounds reasonable I'm not to sure how old my buddies wheel was but it defiantly pulled thru lol 2 laps on a 5/8 mile track was probably one of the roughest tracks on the east coast not to mention lol

@thatracinglife3 жыл бұрын
Tires or wheels? Want to learn a lesson? Aftermarket wheels have a taper shape seat for the lug nuts. Stock wheels have a conical shape. So do stock lugs. If you run taper lugs on a conical wheel, they either crack them or they come loose because there is not much surface area holding them together. Guess which style is on the oversize lug nut? YOU must be new...
