E.Michelle this budget planning was informative. It made perfect sense with you explaining it. I hadn't heard of a sinking fund, so I learned something new. I am proud of myself, bc I moved a little money from my checking to a savings account. I now realize I need to move it to another savings account, where I can't touch it the other is at the same credit union that has my checking account. I have been intimidated by saving money. This is my year to make it happen. Thanks for the advice.😊😊

Christmas sinking fund, birthday presents for boyfriend parents etc...
@samanthacromer53785 жыл бұрын
Christmas would be another sinking fund to add. Save up.over the year and because you are saving a little at a time it's hardly noticeable but it adds up. For example I budget $300 for Christmas currently so that is 25 a month over 12 months and getting paid bi weekly it breaks down to $12.50 per paycheck.

Thanks for explaining it so well! I was on the phone with a friend who I plan to vacation with in May. We've decided we're going to commit to creating a sinking fund for our trip so we're not busting out the credit cards.

Wanted to say thank you. Your budget is more like mine... tight. I was feeling like EVERY video I watched dealing with sinking funds, the person has a job that brings in a LOT of $! Being able to put over 1,000 into various sinking funds... We are not so fortunate, although my husband finally got a job with an actusl career path, finally. We're still reeling from the time between jobs... still behind in payments, and never able to quite catch up. Thats when i started learning to budget and all of this. We're at pre-baby step 1 lol. I have hope now, that even with a tight income, i can STILL save money back. It might be 1$ here and there for a while, but i'm determined. Thank you for being realistic... for being REAL.

So would you call saving for a purse money you take out from your personal spending or would you place it as a sinking fund?
@MichelleElaineOfficial5 жыл бұрын
I would create a sinking fund for it. Give yourself a goal date and figure out much you have to save a month to make it happen.
@0rignallity6015 жыл бұрын
So, some is it a general decision a person will make if they choose to make something a sinking fund or personal fund? Also, what's the difference between having a "personal fund" or "Sinking fund?" I'm a overthinker lol it may sound repetative but i just want a clear distinction so that i may know how to label something I want under the proper category.

This may sound a bit crazy to ask. Do you have advice for single moms who want to budget on low income or dream plan for those who are unemployed. Cus guurrll i wish i had the same monthly income as you to pay off debt and bills and save to move on my own again. I feel as such a failure. I'm having a hard time finding employment opportunities right now. So im just curious if you have any advice
@Dee27dg6 жыл бұрын
jenavione goiser What you will need to do is first gather all your essential bills I.e. grocery, rent, utilities, transportation. Then gather your monthly or bi weekly fixed income statement. Create a budget for the essentials ONLY. After that any extra funds allocate for a small clothing budget for the kids/yourself. With all that being said any extra money goes towards making all essential bills current. If bills are current begin to save a baby emergency fund of $500 .
